Welcome to the forum. Using a home theater set up/calibration optical disc program will help you understand and adjust the picture controls on your TV. Some popular titles are available on both DVD and BD. Some are only available on one or the other format. There is a free program that is available for download through this forum for HD calibration: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...t=avs+709+disk .

A very good title available in both DVD and BD is the 'Disney World Of Wonder' program. It is entertaining and has beginner, advanced, and expert levels of information. You may also benefit from reviewing this thread: 'Display Calibration: Root Fundamentals.'
