Does anyone have a copy of the Sony Image Director 3 software that they can send me? I just got a used Sony projector and the guy who sold it lost the copy that came with the unit. I cannot find it on the Sony site.

Thanks,

Larry

I used to have Image Director (can't remember which version) on my old laptop, but I only used it a few times and forgot to put it on my next laptop. Now I wish I'd remembered, because it seems it's nowhere to be found.

You could just make a shared folder on dropbox and stick it in there. I just downloaded ver 2.1, and it's only about 8 megs, so it doesn't seem like your iso file would be very large.

SONY top level tech support told me the links on page 41 of the user manual for the new HW50ES will connect to a download site in a few days time.
He was unaware of the problems everyone is having and is trying to get it fixed.

Someone knows how to get imagedirector work on the HW50? I bought a usb => serial adapter but somehow it won t connect to my HW50..... I selected the right COM connection. Maybe I have to change some other settings in the RS232 settings in my hardware properties?

It's been a long time since I've tried it so I don't remember for sure, but did you try putting a null modem adapter in line with it, or using a null modem serial cable? Many times that is needed.

Asked this before but did not find a solution yet. I m trying to get Image Director 3.1 work so that I can fine-tune my gamma curve and greyscale on my VPL-VW1000ES. I installed Image Director 3.1 on my W7 x64 system (with all latest Windows updates installed). I also bought a RS-232 to USB adapter from Sweex: http://www.sweex.com/nl/assortiment/connectivity/converters-data-linking/cd005/. Windows automatically installed the correct drivers for this and it is listed in my system/hardware in W7 as rs-232 to usb (COM5) port. Next, I connected the RS-232 plug to the VW1000 'REMOTE' input.

Image Director does not find my projector. I DID notice that Image DIrector TRIES finds SOMETHING because when I config Image Director to eg. PORT2 or PORT4 it IMMEDIALTELY tells me 'no projector found', but when I select PORT5 in Image Director (the actual COM port that was installed my windows) it takes something like 10-15 seconds before I get the exact same notification the no projector is found.

I think it MAYBE has something to do with the SETTINGS of the rs-232 to usb port under windows. I can set quite some things there:

- BITS PER SECOND
- DATA BITS
- PARITY
- STOP BITS
- FLOW CONTROL

Maybe someone can help me further on my way with making it working?

For RS-232, a standard setting is 8N1 (8 data bits, No parity, 1 stop bit). The adapter should be able to negotiate the bitrate with the projector assuming a robust RS-232 implementation in the pj. If you can, try setting the bitrate (BPS) in the adapter's driver to 57600, as this will allow the adapter to negotiate speeds down as needed. Flow Control is commonly set to None or RTS/CTS. As Chad B said, you may need a null-modem cable or adapter. One final thing to consider is that your pj may not be supported by the current version of the software.
