I've made it through all the saturation sweeps and some of the primaries/secondaries sweeps and they look good so far. I have one suggestion for work flow and that is to place the calibration sweeps right after the saturation sweeps for each luminance level:

100% luminance - Saturation Sweep
100% luminance - 100% Saturation: Primaries/Secondaries Sweep
100% luminance - 75% Saturation: Primaries/Secondaries Sweep
100% luminance - 50% Saturation: Primaries/Secondaries Sweep

75% luminance - Saturation Sweep
75% luminance - 100% Saturation: Primaries/Secondaries Sweep
75% luminance - 75% Saturation: Primaries/Secondaries Sweep
75% luminance - 50% Saturation: Primaries/Secondaries Sweep

50% luminance - Saturation Sweep
50% luminance - 100% Saturation: Primaries/Secondaries Sweep
50% luminance - 75% Saturation: Primaries/Secondaries Sweep
50% luminance - 50% Saturation: Primaries/Secondaries Sweep

25% luminance - Saturation Sweep

100% Saturation - luminance Sweep
75% Saturation - luminance Sweep
50% Saturation - luminance Sweep
25% Saturation - luminance Sweep

I don't think I would ever use the luminance sweeps but someone else might find them useful.

Zoyd,

thank you for your excessive testing. I am using the luminance sweeps for chromapure.

I am looking in to a new menu system to make it all a bit more easy to use.

not sure if its a general problem but by Phillips BDP9500 take about 1-2 seconds to change item in the menu so will have a look on what other software I can find to author the disk, If I have no joy I will have a look in optimizing the workflow (well I will look in to this no matter what men u system I use.)

I am having a play with adobe Encore to author the Disk
could you please try to see if the attached ISO file will play on your player
(dont work on PS3 - test of solution in progress)

the iso file contain a bit of menu navigation and 2 test patterns
its just to know if I should proceed down this route - the actual patterns are incorrect and chapter splits are not set either, further more do I have some resolution problems.

it work on by BPD9500.
the advantages going this way is:
sub-menues
fast navigation
more customizable

please let me know if it work?

could interested please test this
http://www.sendspace.com/file/3rxk3c

this is just a test of the navigation system.

since I now can create sub-menues is there any preferences on how this would be used best? I was thinking something like this

due to the sluggish menu system in MultiAVCHD is the priorety now to setup the menu system in Adobe Encore. When this is done I will start creating the patterns for APL, I dont really want to put a time scale on it.

This did not play on my PS3, it shows up as "Data Disk" instead of "AVCHD"

edit: I see you have a new test disk, I tried TEST_BD_ISO and it did not work, I'll try the other one.

I uploaded 2 versions of the ISO file, did you use the one that I link to now?
could you check the iso file on your laptop.

in the BDMV folder there should be this file "index.bdmv.bak"

I just tested the second disk Adobe_Encore_test and it worked fine. The proposed menu structure looks good as long as you can pop back either 1 level or to the top level. Can you also add a gray scale to the 1% APL patterns? APL background should be full field 25% so as not to trigger ABL on plasmas.

for some reason when pressing menu in a pattern it goes to the same menu, despite I have set it to go to another.

the layout is not brilliant and need some working. If anyone is good at stuff like that and fancy helping out let me know

testing and working ok, hitting menu within a pattern or at the top menu always redirects to 25% luminance page?? I could take a look at your .ncor file if you want.

Thanks but it won't import in encore (Mac version), maybe it's not compatible with Mac version. I'm not an encore expert anyway so I don't know if I would spot anything. You should PM Alluringreality and see if he would help.

I have some more pattern specs for your color test menu which currently has the 2 skin tones. I will post RGB values and coordinates for the 15 EBU recommend swatches.

I am looking in to optimizing the menu layout, and to be hones I am not happy with the layout (both visual and functional)

I would like to repeat what i wrote earlier if anyone would have any interest helping with menu pictures etc please let me know.

also is there any suggestions on what patterns should be together on same menu - to minimize navigation? (workflow)

eventual I will be looking in to pop-up menus - to navigate across sections, but this is not until I got a menu system I think works

I was thinking something like the following

Main Menu:

10% Windows
1% Windows APL
Skin Tones

10% Windows:

100% Saturation
100% luminance - 100% Saturation: Primaries/Secondaries Sweep
75% luminance - 100% Saturation: Primaries/Secondaries Sweep

25% Saturation - luminance Sweep

Grey Scale

10pt gray Scale
20pt Grey Scale

where bald/underlined is a separate menu?

The Skin menu would contain the skin patterns

The 1% Windows APL would be build the same way as the 10%

any comments is much appreciated

Grey scale will be added, just misted it out, the main point of the above is to get the menu structure right.

Not sure what you mean by 100% saturation is wrong?

Oh 1000% - just a typo

Suggestion: Skin tones chapter->EBU Test Colours

Included test colours will be:

Code:
EBU 1
Dark Skin
EBU 2
Light Skin
EBU 3
Light Greyish Red
EBU 4
Light Yellow Green
EBU 5
Light Bluish Green
EBU 6
Light Violet
EBU 7
Foliage
EBU 8
Medium Red
EBU 9
Medium Green
EBU 10
Medium Blue
EBU 11
Dark Red
EBU 12
Dark Green
EBU 13
Dark Blue
EBU 14
Medium Yellow Red
EBU 15
Medium Purple

For menu organization I would simplify and pull out the non-essential sweeps from each heading so that for example:

100% Saturation contains the prim/sec sweeps at 100% saturation + just the luminance sweep at 100% sat
100% Luminance contains the prim/sec sweeps at 100% luminance + just the saturation sweep at 100% lum

Zoyd,

please forward the EBU R'G'B details when you got them ready. do you think maybe a separate submenu under 10% & 1% windows would be better? I can See EBU 1&2 and partly EBU8 is skin tones but the remaining is more general color test patterns?

regarding menu structure,

my thought behind it was not to have to navigate through menus to much, however the simple the better of course also apply, I think some trials is required.
I think I will change it so that instead of having a box with some text (as it is now) maybe a picture of the pattern and some text either above or below would be better (sort of like it was with the MultiAVCHD version)

attached is a test mimic of the menu:
what do you think?

as anta1974 says, very great!

I decided to go with the more widely used color checker series instead of EBU.

dark skin
light skin
blue sky
foliage
blue flower
bluish green
orange
purplish blue
moderate red
purple
yellow green
orange yellow

Updated spreadsheet with R'G'B' for those is attached.

edit: version 3 of the spreadsheet with added targets for camera gamma and color checker patterns.
