Do we have a time line for the standard Calman 5 release for those getting the free upgrade from 4?

I am assuming our license keys from 4 work on version 5, or will we be getting a new license via e-mail?

Thanks,

Jason

Free upgrade from 4? I have a DIY license, do i qualify?

They have stated that if you have purchased version 4 within about the last year or so then you would get version 5 for free.

Upgrade from 4 to 5 is free within the first year of having 4 or having a current maintenance contract. With the features included in 5 I can't imagine anyone not wanting to upgrade.

Found the info at SpectraCal's site.
http://store.spectracal.com/support/software-maintenance.html

Received an email from Spectracal today, offering free Calman 5 upgrades to control and enthusiast depending on the package you currently have - cannot find any info on either control or enthusiast - anyone have any ideas?

Anybody using CalMAN DIY now would be a good time to get your license current if needed and have at least one add-on license. If both these conditions are met it will be a free upgrade to v5 Enthusiast. I've been using v5 for quite awhile now and can honestly say this is an upgrade not to be missed out on.

I'm really glad I'll be getting v5 enthusiast... it has everything you could want and more from calibration software.

With V4 DIY owners being upgraded to V5 Enthusiast, is there anything in this for existing V4 Enthusiast owners? We paid quite a bit more than DIY + an add-on.

I suggest you contact SpectraCal directly. I'm sure they will do what they can so nobody feels they are getting shortchanged. Although with everything that is being offered with Enthusiast I'm not sure anything additional would be of benefit to most.

Yes anyone that has at least one addon and is current with maintenance will get a CalMAN 5 Enthusiast license. We are doing away with the addon model and just going with a straight 3 level license for CalMAN Home and Business.

CalMAN 5 Home Video: Basic, Control, Enthusiast

CalMAN 5 for Business: Expert, Professional, Ultimate

Other CalMAN 5 products: Studio, CalPC, CalMED, CalGEO

Yes the upgrade from CalMAN 3/4 Enthusiast to CalMAN 5 Enthusiast you get access to many more features and hardware than CalMAN 3/4 ever had:

I don't think that was what he was asking. Looks like current DIY+ users are getting the same benefits that current Enthusiasts will.

As a previous V2/3 Pro user, I have been "downgraded" to Enthusiast over the years, and newer DIY users are getting "upgraded". Does not seem exactly fair.

Hi cal, I'm not sure what happen in your situation, but if you had Professional in v3, you should have received Commercial in v4 and Ultimate in v5 assuming you were in proper maintenance fee level. perhaps contact support/sales there

Edit: I see from a previous post (5/27/2010 on SpectraCal's forum) that you elected to renewal maintenance at a lower price level (Enthusiast vs Professional Maintenance starting in v3, from a Pro License in v2)

Hi Cal,

It's true that current DIY users are getting a screaming good deal. Anyone who is not a current DIY user is missing out on a truly sensational opportunity.

In your case, as Derek says, anyone with Enthusiast is being uplifted into a whole new realm of power and functionality.

If I can paraphrase your situation, it's "In v4, I have a license called Enthusiast, and in CalMAN 5, I will still have a license called Enthusiast, so I'm not getting anything." Perhaps we should have called the CalMAN 5 license something more razzle-dazzle, to emphasize that it's vastly more powerful. You're getting color cube (3D LUT) functionality, just to mention one example, that was previously only available to professional colorists at a price of thousands of dollars. And lots more. So call it "Super-Duper Enthusiast With Technology Previously Unavailable in Home Theater," and see if it feels like more of a step up.

As Turbe says, you intentionally chose the downgrade from the Pro to the Enthusiast level. If you'd like to step back up to pro, PM me, and it can be arranged.

Anyone else with upgrade questions, please feel free to PM me as well. SpectraCal wants people to be not only happy with all the additional features and power they're getting in CalMAN 5, but ecstatic.

Derek, when can we expect touchdown of Calman 5 for home users?

Hi guys, I purchased the CalMAN DIY Software w/ OEM i1Display package (link below) about 5 months ago. Will I get a FREE up-grade to Calman 5 Basic or Calman 5 Control? Sorry, I am really unclear as to what up-grade I will get!!

Thanks in advance.

Paul

No. v4 DIY has native support for the OEM i1Display. Just add CalPC or Interactive. It will be money well spent.

the confusion probably is from July of last year , about DIY including the Colorimeter addon for the OEM i1Display.. but as far as I know, that meter is supported natively as praz posted...

The v4 DIY Colorimeter Addon is for the Chroma 5

back when I bought the OEM i1Display, I got a colorimeter add-on license... I supposed they changed support shortly after that.
