The i1pro 1/2 do not have a sync function because they don't need it, their base integration times are long enough to provide stability at the light levels they are designed to measure.

CalMAN 5.3.0 Build: 1450 Released @ 12 March 2014

New Features

Added a new Sliding Power gamma formula. This is a Power formula with black compensation and a target exponent which behaves similarly to the BT1886 formula.

Added Grayscale Priority Interpolation for 3D LUTs.

Added Brightness and Contrast ramp patterns for the Virtual Forge, Video Forge Classic, Video Forge II 4K, and Video Forge II HDMI generators from within CalMAN.

Issues Resolved

Resolved issue that limited the 3D Cube report to license levels with design mode.

Resolved issue that when disconnecting from resolve as a pattern generator.

Fixed a broken navigation button in the SI Pro workflow.

Improved 3D LUT compatibility with Resolve and the IS Mini, improving results at the low end of grayscale.

Made adjustments to the Monitor – Standard workflow to deal with changes to VMware Fusion.

Resolved an issue where the gamma exponent was not being properly restored when loading a workflow or data file.

Corrected issue with dE 1994 calculation.

Changes

Added Saturations AutoCal to the SI Pro workflow.

The default pattern size for the Client 3 now defaults to full field. Those users who have already connected to Client 3 as a pattern source will default to whatever their last setting was.

Notes

SIP based meters, such as the C3, i1D2, and Chroma 5, appear to have an issue when trying to take readings on displays which are still stabilizing after a pattern change. This can cause them to stop responding. This in turn will cause lost connection errors in CalMAN such as Error 6 and Error 7: Display Type not supported. Another symptom of this issue is when CalMAN appears to hang on a meter read or a meter read takes a very long time.

A solution for this issue is to increase the pattern generators Delay setting, allowing the display to stabilize before we start a reading. The Delay setting can be found under the Source tab.

Where do you find the release notes in the new web site?

What is "IS Mini"? I just want to be sure it's not a type of my "3D Mini".

Great news on the Sliding Power Gamma function. The 2.4 built into BT.1886 is a little steep for my setup. I'd like to try a BT.1886 with a 2.2 upper end.

Yes, I saw this and there are no release notes for CalMAN 5.2.3 on that page. The link TEDD provided has the release notes but I see no way of navigating to that page from the home page. You just have to know the URL.

OK... so that's off their professional page, somewhere I'd never go. Looks like a target for an email announcement I didn't get. They'll get this new web site figured out soon, I'm sure. Thanks, TEDD!

EDIT: Now there are release noted on their "home" products download page. Either I was blind (a distinct possibility) or they just put the link up. Sorry to make a mountain out of a mole-hill, but I like to be able to find that info on the vendor's site! smile.gif

It's Release 5.3.0 - Final, not 5.2.3

OK... The 5.2.3 release noted are under the "CalMAN Home Video" heading, not the "CalMAN version 5.2.3" heading. I've got it. And I've taken up enough bandwidth with this dumb little confusion of mine. Thanks for your patience. As I said before, I'm very interested in trying other gamma powers with the BT.1886 low IRE "tail".

Every manufacturer is late this year in getting engineering samples to us. We just got the new Panasonic AX series displays in this week. Still waiting on JVC and others. We will post when we have had updates.

This is probably due to continuing spec changes as bugs, problems and issues are found. No sense sending you a `Work in Progress Working Model'. Once they figure they've got it down to about 95% correct, then they'll send the sample. (There's also the issue where a Model comes out, only to disappear 6 months later - seen that with my LG 55LHXs ! Also the LG Active 3D units, that suddenly got dropped as they switched over to Passive 3D))

Hi, I don't believe that JVC released unfinished products, just at JVC they don't interested to give DCC to CalMAN so they didn't send a sample unit, because the intergration (hardware-software) always is preparing before the products release date, before the product is available at stores.

LG 55LHX is a fully backlit LCD/LED with 3360 LEDs. Fantastic Blacks and Colour, but the only good viewing area is 15 degrees each side of the sweet spot. (Blooming)
OK for me because I'm only watching in the Sweet Spot. LG started Manufacturing Aug 2009, discontinued March 2010. As Calman improves, so do they. (Have a his and hers)
The LG 55LV9500 was sold originally as a fully backlit, Active 3D, 240HZ as, I believe 55LW9500. 3D and THX were shut off before selling as the 55LV9500. But several Service Menu tweaks later, THX and 3D back up and running. Once inventory ran out, that was that. No matter how much Calman was applied, great Colour, but headache producing 3D!
At least they made it into the market. How many Models just become Vapourware? (ie. New Samsung 7000 Plasma)
55LV9500, now replaces my wifes's upstairs LG 42LH90. The 9500 downstairs has been replaced by the Samsung PN64F8500, that just recently passed the 500 hour mark, and has dropped it's Plasma Glow for a completely Black Panel. Surprising thing with it, with the Plasma Glow, and now without, Calman's reading for Black never changed!

i currently have a JVC X700 projector with approx 31 hours on the bulb, i finally picked up a lumagen mini 3D 2 weeks ago and also a darbee DPV-5000, i'm about to try the calibration stuff out. I have calman 5.3 and have used it with my Panasonic vt plasma.... which was super easy with autocal, my question is for a projector i read lots online where some people say the meter should be at 1/2 the viewing distance(20ft viewing, put meter at 10ft), i read some saying it should be 6-10inches from the screen and others 2-3 feet... I use a Eye1Display2 meter, curious on what most people here use for meter placement? I know at some point the autocal stuff will work on the new JCV line but is it possible to select the older JVC model for autocal? are the menu layouts the same? or is this something totally not recommended/and wont work. Since theirs no autocal yet for this projector and i see lots of people asking about autocal for the new JCV lines, has anyone else here used calman on there new model X500,x700,x900 JVC unit? if so what was the best picture mode to do manual calibration? i assume i should turn off all the 4k Eshift options and disconnect the darbee? or set the darbee to 0? for calibration? any input would be greatly appreciated.

I can't answer all your questions but I can answer two.

Position the meter about 1-1.5 feet from the center of the screen, making sure the meter is angled slightly so it is not pointed at its shadow. You can take a continuous reading of a 100% pattern with CalMan to find the sweet spot where you get the highest fL as you angle the meter.

Don't worry about the Darbee. You can leave it as you normally have it set. It won't interfere with your calibration at all.

Yes, your Accupel will generate the required patterns (8-bit RGB Triplet combination) by performing a virtual correction (AutoCAL) and when it's finished; it will automatically generate a 64-Point Cube file (10-bit cLUT) and will automatically transfer it to your active eeColor memory slot.

Thanks Ted. That sure makes getting into LUTs calibration a lot more feasible.

So basically, all I need to do is purchase Calman Enthusiast, purchase a eeColor box processor, have my i1D3 and i1pro2 profiled to a 1211 (scheduled for Tuesday night), use my existing Accupel 5000 and I should be ready to go for about $1,300 out of pocket.

Sounds almost too easy. Am I missing something?

How is the profile matrix at the bottom of the meter profiling window suppose to be read? You have XYZ for both your headers and row titles.

What you're seeing is a profile between a Jeti 1211 and a i1D3 for a Samsung 64F8500 plasma display.

What you're seeing is a profile between a Jeti 1211 and a i1D3 for a Samsung 64F8500 plasma display.

It's a linear transform matrix. Three equations in three variables. The matrix takes the results from the iD3 and scales them linearly so that they "match" the Jeti 1211 results

The matrix equation is basically i1D3 x T = Jeti 1211. Where T is the matrix you posted.

Didn't really notice that. Intensity? Indentity? I've only seen the 3x3 method used. Perhaps Joel can explain further. smile.gif
