CalMAN 5.5.1 Preview - Build: 1964 Released @ 02 July 2015

''With the holiday weekend swiftly approaching, we decided to do a 5.5.1 preview release to the forums. This is basically 5.5.1 final, but is not going up on the web site until next week.''

Release Notes

Added support for OSEE as pattern generator for Ultimate, Studio, and ColorChecker license levels.

Added the OSEE file format for cube calibrations in SpectraCal Cube Generator.

Added a check box on the Source tab for madVR to force it into full screen mode while CalMAN takes readings. The window will be returned to its previous state when readings are done. This requires madVR version 0.88.14 or higher.

Resolved issue where Target lines on deltaE charts might not display once enabled.

Added Rec BT.2020 UHD and D65 P3 Gamuts to Studio Express and Studio Lite licenses.

Resolved an issue where Pattern Auto Advance would apply to an automated pattern generator.

Resolved an issue on the Lumagen Radiance (all models) where CalMAN would not reset the internal 3D LUT at the start of a cube calibration.

Resolved an issue where CalMAN would not recreate a settings file on startup if it were missing. This would cause CalMAN to crash on startup.

Fixed typo on the ColorChecker button on the last layout of the Studio Introduction workflow.

You can use multiple meters in CalMAN. One of the goals of CalMAN is to make the software as flexible as possible.

You might need to lengthen the exposure to get a valid reading.

Eyeglass on works on PCs, so it doesn't make a great tool to validate video paths, unless your HTPC is setup in a very specific manner.

What 3D LUT device are you planning on calibrating?

Colorchecker is a trail and good software to check display accuracy.

The eyeglass bit is a bit of marketing tack-on. Depending on the product you're looking at and your use case if you talk to the sales dept. they can do a better job getting you the best demo of the product.

Dear Sotti,

Is it possible to correct a general meter by a reference meter with Calman before I start calibrate?

Yes you can create a profile at any time.

You can connect multiple meters and connect to them at the same time. Or you can always go do another search from the Meters Tab.

Also on the meters tab is a drop down with meter profiles and a new/edit button next to it.

Thank you for the details release notes, as usual. Not all software companies do this, which can be frustrating, so I just wanted to point out that it is very much appreciated.

hi,

is there something similar to argyllcms black output offset in calman 3d cube calibration?
because i'm stuck with bt.1886 curve based on measured black, even when setting custom black level target.
let's say my tv black is 0.0138fL but i want a curve with 0.0069fL black level, setting argyllcms black output offset to 50% give me exactly what i want. how about calman?

Thanks.
They are closer to RGB LED or OLED, but we haven't had those specific displays in our lab.

CalMAN 5.5.1 Final - Build: 1964 Released @ 06 July 2015

New Features

Added support for OSEE to function as a pattern generator (CalMAN Ultimate).

Added OSEE file format for cube calibrations within SpectraCal’s Cube Generator (CalMAN Ultimate).

Changes

Changed the default pattern delay setting for Eizo displays.

Added a check box within the source tab for madVR. This button will force the patterns to go into fullscreen mode while CalMAN is taking readings. The window will return to its previous state when the readings are finished. This feature requires madVR version 0.88.14 or higher.

Disabled the "Include Stabilizing Delay for Read All" setting by default.

CalMAN will no longer calculate Contrast Ratio unless both black and white readings have been taken.

Resolved Issues

Resolved issue where deltaE chart target lines might not be displayed once they are enabled.

Resolved issue where Pattern Auto Advance would apply to an automated pattern generator if going from a manual pattern generator to an automatic generator.

Resolved crashes that occurred when CalMAN would not recreate a settings file on startup if it were missing.

Resolved an issue that would occur on the Lumen Radiance (all models). CalMAN would not reset the internal 3D LUT at the start of a cube calibration.

Fixed a typo ColorChecker button on last layout of Studio Introduction workflow.

New Features

Added support for Prisma 3D LUT Box (CalMAN Ultimate/Enthusiast).
Just to correct the above release notes I posted (that later changed by SpectraCAL).

Prisma 3D LUT Box is supported for 3D LUT AutoCAL's via VirtualCube from CalMAN Ultimate and CalMAN Studio (Full) licenses, and not from CalMAN Enthusiast.

Prisma is supported as a Pattern Generator from CalMAN Ultimate, Studio, Professional, Enthusiast, Control, and ColorChecker licenses.

CalMAN is not supporting the direct upload of the generated 3D LUT correction tables, it requires a simple external uploading procedure from the user.

CalMAN 5.5.2 Open Beta - Build: 1966 Released @ 14 July 2015

Release Notes posted from SpectraCAL's Support Team

''So, we've got a new build that makes changes to the Radiance. Specifically we've changed how we connect and how we perform resets to 3D LUTs. This should speed up performance in these areas.

I've worked on this with a Radiance XD, 20xx, and 21xx series models and everything looks good, but we'd really like to get feedback from the field. Let us know how its going for you, if you have any issues, etc.''

I'm assuming this should also work with the Radiance Mini3D, yes?

Yes, but not expect noticed difference since the 3D LUT table size is small and it takes a lot of faster to reset it vs. the 20xx/21xx models.

I'm recommending to my clients to Reserve it that you're on the list. Then wait several months and checkout whether the fallout is + or - .
Myself, and most likely Spectracal have had Windows 10 Betas for awhile, to test the Calman program with, and to check out.
For myself, glad to see in the latest Beta, 2 of my 3 suggestions are now in the latest versions!.
Last suggestion, just passed on to MS, recommended they do something with the eventvwr.exe program that the fraudsters are using to suck millions, if not billions of $s out of computer owners. (Or as I call it, `The Eventvwr Scam!' )

Os x

Certainly would be better if CalMan ran on OS X, rather than the soon to be DOA of OS's. But I suppose Spectracal has invested too much to date to get out from under Windoze.

From the main menu you can open the meter profiling tool.
You can also access the tool from the meters drop down.

Will the pattern display automatically? And can I use a full field and single measure approach?

All of the standard pattern generator settings and automation is used, so you can configure it how ever you like for your situation.

What's the difference between expand video to pc levels and expand built in patterns to pc levels? The former is unchecked by default and the latter is checked by default.

What are you using for a pattern source?

The functionality expands the Video range patterns from 16-235 to 0-255 with the expectation that something else down the line will re-compress them back to 16-235. These checkboxes have no effect in PC range.

You can also access the tool from the meters drop down.
After a profile is done, is there a way to see what difference there was between the 2 meters at the RGBW points?
