Hey all,

spent a little time building some custom patterns.
Attached you will find 6.5% (THX size I believe) and 4% window sizes, with 0-100 grayscale in 10% steps, full saturation patterns for primary and secondary colours and 75 lum CMS patterns also for your primary and secondary colours.

Unfortunately since I am not in posession of a decent BD authoring tool, I have only managed to create these as single standalone disks which need to be burned and played separately, ie grayscale needs to be burned separately from CMS and so on. This means you will end up with 3 disks in total for each window type.

Note the disks play immediately, there is no menu system, there are however 30 second gaps between chapters so you will be using the pause button alot no doubt and they have all been recorded at 24fps. Oh and before I forget, i didnt mark any of the patterns with markers to identify them, hence the need for a small chapter guide. Next time i'll try to figure.

To use these patterns they need to be extracted and burned to disk using ImgBurn. .The files have been compressed using 7zip, which you'll need to install to extract the BDVM and CERTIFICATE file.
Once ImgBurn is open select mode, then build, then goto the options tab, ensure file system is UDF and the UDF revision is 2.5.
Drag the extracted BDMV and CERTIFICATE files into the large empty window on the left (second window below where it says 'source'.)
Put an empty DVD in and record!

Maybe If I can afford it, I may invest in Encore, but until then this is as good as it gets!
Appreciate your feedback.
Enjoy!!

6.5% THeX Size Windows.zip 652k .zip file
4% Windows.zip 706k .zip file
Windows chapter guide disk 1,2 and 3.zip 7k .zip file

Ps - if there any are custom pattern requests let me know, i have it down to a fine art!!! (i think!!)
Im thinking 12% and 15%

Just wanted to thank Alluringreality, dr1394 and visca for their assistance!

These are smaller - may help with some TV types - I know some of the pros have reported good results with smaller patterns on the VT Panasonic series.
I'll be running a full calibration with these at the weekend on my VT30.

The 6.5% pattern disc went berserk in both of my BD players. It wouldn't play and made a whole lot of noise.

6.5% Grayscale.zip 282k .zip file
6.5% CMS.zip 217k .zip file
6.5% Saturation.zip 555k .zip file

Try these - work absolutely fine on my Denon 2500BT.
Ensure you put each file on its own disk.

Just in case, follow step 4 in the following link.

@ndaa

I downloaded the 6.5% and put it on a disc....It works ,but it is hard to navigate without chapter skips and the % values being shown.

Could it be possible to make a mp4 version with 5 minutes per chapter like how that guy did it in Chad B. 4% thread.Thanks.

Hi Peter

My verions work with chapter skips with no issues.
Are you saying that the disk just plays as one chapter?

Let me know.

Cheers

I just build another one using UDF 2.50 and now my 310 would not even read it,It plays on the PS3 as one stream without chapter skip.

I think it needs to be an iso like how avs709 is...

But an mp4 or mkv with individual chapters would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks neil for all your effort.

Im just burning a copy now - did you uncompress files first (maybe a silly question!)
FWIW works on both my Sony and Denon BD player as a BD disk - I'll run it through my PS3 in 10 mins.

Definitely doesnt work on the PS3, comes up as a data disc. Popped it in the Denon, no problem, its there with chapters. Not sure about your BD player tho, will try as an ISO.

Try the attached - work fine on both PS3 and Denon 2500BT BD player.
Burn in the same way as previously advised.

Now it works on my BDT310 with chapter skip...It just needs the % value per window for future reference...

Also ndaa are the windows up to spec x.y,Y wise to have a reliable calibration?

Because i plan to give it a go later on...Thanks for all your time and effort.

Yep, these are good to go!

Just tested the 1% windows in HCFR with an unprofiled i1D3 - VT settings were allat default, gamma 2.2. Ignore the 0% on the GS and Saturation shifts.
Not a bad result.

I just did a spot check with the 6.5% windows on my GT30 in THX mode and I get a 2.14 gamma reading. With 10% and higher I would get 2.06.

Sm avs apl are the only one that give a 2.2 reading...

Ndaa everything worked out well with your check guide...The pause button and chapter skip where my best friend..

Over the weekend I will hunker down and try to get a good cali.

Thanks buddy.

Ill post the updated 1% patterns - they seem to have given me the best result on my vt30 so far. They also have the % marker for each pattern.
Ive also gotten into the habit of 2 pointing 75 and 25 stim instead of the usual 80/30, i find this gives me an overall tighter grayscale. I then recheck with a 21 point to ensure nothing unusual is going on with the gamma as these sets tend to show obvious contouring and posterization if anything is out of place.

GScale 5% steps AVCHD.zip 1036k .zip file
GScale 10% steps AVCHD.zip 426k .zip file
Saturation AVCHD.zip 764k .zip file

These are all labelled 1% windows and work very well on my Panasonic 55VT30 (Euro model) in conjunction with Calman 5 Enthusiast.
Both the 5% and 10% Grayscale disk includes 2 point WB patterns for 75% and 25% white stim. This is at the beginning of the disk, chapters 2,3,4, and 5.

Did a full calibration of my Pioneer 8g Kuro yesterday with the 1% pattern disks (grayscale, gamma @2.25 and CMS). Checking with real world material, results seem great. With 10% patterns I get can get all the numbers looking right, but the 1% patterns seem to give a much more consistent picture.

I’ll have to do some more testing, but for now the 1% patters are my new favourites.
Keep up the good work ndaa75, and thanks for your efforts.
