Hello,

I have a two-week license to test calman 5. Is there a way to have access to an early beta version of this disk?

Hello, The mainly porpose of the disk is for automaTED 17-Point Cube Profilings with no user prompt exept the initial synced mouse click from inside LightSpace Software.

The Disk has chapters inside of 11/21-Step Grayscale and 4/5/10-Step Saturations Patterns for CalMAN use.
If you need to perform a Normal 1D LUT Calibration you can use other disks available free like GDC Disk for example.

I will keep the topic updated when the disk will be ready for downloading.

Just a Quick Update...

I was busy lately, with no so much free time to complete it but we are too close now, Encoding is slowing down and it takes a lot of time.

Currenly the disk ISO is 16GB and will be Blu-Ray ISO only. No Plans for AVSHD disk.

I have update the menu layout and it includes 10-Step Saturations + Luminance Patterns based at CalMAN's Targets.

Color Checker Classic - SG - SG Skintones has been encoded and tested already.

Some modifications to LightSpace Hybrid Mode pattern order due to our Internal LigthSpace Testing will need some new encoding.
iMario likes this.

Ted I found your post in the Calman 5 calibration disk thread to be interesting, but I did't want to hijack that thread. So I posted it in your thread.
Quote:
I have no limit problem to LightSpace CMS Calibration Disk because the Software sync with the total time of each chapter, so I have 4.913 patterns in one chapter. Also the pattern order and each pattern RGB Triplet is fixed becasue 4.913 calibration takes 4.913 reads. This is not possible with CalMAN right now since a cube calibration will request any of 16million RGB triplets during the AutoCal.

This makes impossible for anyone to author any 3D Cube Supported disk for CalMAN right now.

What I found to be interesting is the difference on how LS works with a pre set of patterns and CM not using a per set of patterns.

This shows exactly the Power of LightSpace's Engine, It reads 4913 and it performs a global correction at all color points at once without need to re-measure each point.

Don't forget also that LightSpace is used to generate 17-Point Cubes (4.913 Color Points) Profilings since 2009 @ Professional World Industry....

The Chief Color Scientist of LightSpace has developed the colour pipeline for ILM (Industrial Light And Magic), WETA and Park Road Post (King Kong, Lord Of The Rings, and The Hobbit, etc...), Star Wars pipeline also, and was responsible for the colour science in TrueLight, as you can see there's a large ammount of colour science knowledge behind the LightSpace's Engine. wink.gif

Yes Ted I am sure on a pro level (meaning time is money) LS has a clear advantage over CM. And that is the one concern I have about the future of CM and large LUT's.
For me running a 3375 LUT takes about 3 1/2 hours, yes I would like to bump my next LUT to a 4096 point now that it seems CM and my setup is working. So the time factor is not a concern for me, its the end result that is.

Also it seems to me that I have to run a 21 point GS before I start the LUT calibration. Why that running a 21 Pt GS gives me concern is that it moves the setting for Green in some of the points. Not saying that the movement of Green is bad but if it can be avoided all the better.

I'm working on it every single day....

There some good new disk features.

I have add Support for LightSpace DIP Mode 1 & 2 sec per Patch for users with Klein K-10A

Now they will be able to perform a Fully AutomaTED 17-Point Cube (4.913 Color Points) for 1 Hour + 22 Minutes only! (for 1 sec DIP Chapter)

.....without any user prompt (exept the initial synced mouse click to start measurements)....

I have add support for ChromaPure's 4-Step Saturation/Lumuinance, Color Checker, 21-Step Grayscale etc.... with Target RGB Triplets that Tom has provide me.

Also there almost 50 new Color Reproduction Patterns I have add, the following pictures is a small preview of them.

12 Color Amplitude (23-Step)

Cyan - Chromaticity (23-Step)

Siements Star Chart - Bar 72 Bands (Magenta)

Zone Plate Sine (Blue)

The Blu-Ray ISO is almost 12GB so far.

I will update this topic when I will be closer to the finish line. wink.gif

Hi ConnecTEDDD,

how do You exactly sync LS with a Player that includes Your disc? Can LS control the player somehow?

thanks!

Hi ConnecTEDDD,

Hi, LightSpace's Pattett Order per Each Cube Size is Fixed and LightSpace reparates profiling from calibrations, that means one pattern is measured only one time from the Software.

There is a Mode that is called DIP Mode that you can select the time each calibration patch is displayed.

To find out which time chapter is for your display there is a Meter Time per Patch Finder Chapter that displays the Darkest Colors (Dark Colors with a meter is taking more time) of the selected LUT resolution and LightSpace tells you what reading was the longest (loging down each meter's read to an excel file, in milliseconds). After finding that longest numben then you decide which disk chapter you can use for your currect display/meter/meter settings.

In DIP mode different values are required to be set for different probes, and even for different display types, as displays with deeper blacks will require longer times.

iD3 will take 4 - 7 Seconds per patch or Klein K-10A 1 to 3sec per patch only.

For more details you can see the my first post of this topic. wink.gif

Should have read Your 1st post before asking smile.gif. Totally unstand.
But I have a 2nd question. Right now I own Calman v5 and C6 meter. Sometimes the meter "stucks" when reading patches for some reasons. Did You see similar on LS? As this will mess up the sync.

Don't think you can use a C6 meter with LS.

I know C6 is locked for CM, just asking in general and C6 is basicly the same as I1D3. Going to get I1D3 and I1pro2 bundle when purchasing LS.

You will find the guys here on AVS to be very helpful when you start to use LS, as is Steve.

I sold my C6 when I got LS home, but I didn't get the I1D3 I got a different meter. I think Ted and other users of LS use the I1D3 with LS.

The read time factor is really dependent not only on your meter but what type of display you are using.

I have the same meters like these you want to buy.

Check this post and watch the video .

C6 has adaptive mode and takes more samples that 1 to some patches. exposure time is dynamically adjusted.

i1D3 with Lightspace you are setting the meter intergration time (for example 1.2sec per read). Then you are measuring with LightSpace the Darkest patches....

For example the 17p Cube Darkest Patches measuring my KURO with i1D3 with intergration time to 2.0 sec are:

Black:

__ Y_____ x____ y__ Meter Read
0.0071 0.7265 0.2752 4102ms
0.0069 0.7265 0.2752 4243ms
0.0067 0.7265 0.2752 4383ms
0.0069 0.7265 0.2752 4322ms
0.0073 0.7265 0.2752 4087ms

Red 4.71%

0.0844 0.2977 0.5209 5741ms
0.0848 0.3012 0.5198 5523ms
0.0854 0.2997 0.513 5460ms

Green 4.71%

0.0308 0.652 0.3489 5647ms
0.0309 0.6526 0.3484 5647ms
0.031 0.6522 0.3488 5647ms

Blue 4.71%

0.0193 0.2148 0.1039 4306ms
0.0193 0.2131 0.1034 4243ms
0.0194 0.2139 0.1038 4149ms
0.0193 0.2132 0.1034 4243ms

For the above meter settings to this display it's safe to use 7 sec. DIP Mode Disk Chapter.

Currently i'm using 1.44 sec intergration time with 6 sec DIP Mode Disk Chapter

A Low luminance read will require more time for the meter (as happens with KURO), so measuring other displays that measuring times will be reduced

thanks a lot ConnecTEDDD!

so the above mentioned stucking readings I got with the C6 are caused by the dynamically adjusted exposure time and CM. And this can not happen with LS as the integration time is set manually. Am I right?

LightSpace has a feature for iD3 users that is not available at any other software I have used.

You can now manually set the integration time to any value....1.56....2.32...etc with editing the integration time value box, rather than using the LightSpace Intergration Time Slider.

This, according to X-Rite, will help with plasma profiling.

So, if you know the PWM Rate of the source you can set the integration time exactly... to do this:

1. Set the integration time to be an integer multiple of the PWM frequency of the corresponding display.

2. So, as an example, in PWM-based Display (Pioneer KURO with 24p signal), the frequency of the panel is 71.93Hz (PureCinema In Advance Mode) so the integration time should be an integer multiple, i.e., n*1/71.93Hz so if n were 100 then we obtain the following:

integration time to be = 100*1/71.93 = 1.39 seconds.

The more accurate you set, the better will be the results, gaining more stable repeatability...

If you need to practice with different integer multiplier, there is a Measure & Log feature of LightSpace that it exports to an Excel file all your readings, xyY + the actual meter measuring time in ms. of each reading (3800ms, 5430ms.. etc).

There will be 2 Versions of the Disk:

1) Blu-Ray ISO Disk (Single Layer Blu-Ray Disk will Required)

2) Media Player Edition with All Chapters at seperate Video Files (Video Level 16-235 Patterns... Data Level 0-255 Pattern will come later)

No Plans for AVCHD Disk because of the project high capacity (~13GB Space)

WOW, great job Ted.

I don't have a Blu Ray burner, but may just have to get one for your disc. Of course I will be using your disc for LightSpace.

Thanks,

ss

Thanks SS, I'm using an Unfinished Version or my Disk from December 2012 to perform AutomaTED 17-Point Cube Calibrations without user prompt using my Blu-Ray Player as a Pattern Source with 100% Success, It's time for all the users to gain this access to this great free capability that is currently available only for LightSpace users.

When Other software solutions will improve their AutoCals to take only 1 meter read for each color point: 4.913 Colors = 4.913 Meter Reads (Like LightSpace does from 2009) Then I will add support for other software solutions. wink.gif
