Can someone explain the screen mode Full Pixel vs. Normal for me?

From what I understand, when turning on Full Pixel, you are essentially seeing a full 1080p image. The downside is that you may see slightly more than is intended and could send vertical lines on the screen in the corner.

So with that said, as someone who wants the picture to be as the director or the source is intended, do I want Normal or Full Pixel? Full Pixel to me almost seems as it's zooming out per se and showing what wasn't intended. Is this not the case? Is Normal cutting off the picture and Full Pixel is correct?

Thanks

You want full pixel.

Normal makes the picture slightly blurry.

For Blu-Ray or DVD their is no downside, only broadcast TV (even HD) will give you the occasional scan line at the top of the image. But that is getting to be less and less of an issue as time goes on.

Greetings

Consider giving this article a read. It talks about the two modes you are inquiring about and what really happens to the image ... as well as the trade offs.

Perfect. Thanks for the explanation.

I guess what is weird to me now is I use the PS3 for Blu-rays and Games. When in Full Pixel mode on my TV, I see a vertical line on the left side of my display. Is the PS3 overscanning? I would think that the PS3 would support Full Pixel but based on the line, I guess not. Anyone else have this problem?
