Anyone know if there is a programme that can convert .yuv10 file to RGB or YUV file format?
I can download some test patterns but cannot open the files!!

I'm sure you want to open some of the Studio Monitor Measurements - Test Patterns (EBU TECH-3325) Patterns wink.gif

Try Adobe Priemier, but i'm not 100% sure.

when you try to open the files change the picker to all files, then select the right format, and it should work, just tried it and work fine,

To be sure, were talking about .yuv10 file format - its not the same as a standard .yuv file.

Here's a utility to convert yuv10 files to 8-bit bmp or tga files.

http://www.w6rz.net/yuv10torgb.zip
Code:
usage: yuv10torgb <-bv6> <horz> <vert> <infile> <outfile>

Defaults are tga file, 0 to 255 RGB and BT.709 matrix.

-b for bmp files
-v for video levels
-6 for BT.601 matrix

For example:

yuv10torgb -b 1920 1080 EBU_3325_1080_3_06.yuv10 test.bmp

Cheers Ron,

Dont suppose theres one that can downsample a 10bit YUV to an 8 bit one? Just might make the process a little simpler!

Hi Ron,

Just tried to convert a file, and it all seem a bit odd. I have tried the following

1) play the .yuv10 file in Vooya

(out depend on the video format setting)

2) converted the .yuv10 to .bmp

3) converted the .yuv10 to .yuv converted to .tga

all 3 results bring up a complete different pattern

see below

1
LEAD Technologies Inc. V1.01

2
LEAD Technologies Inc. V1.01

3
LEAD Technologies Inc. V1.01

could I get you to have a look at what could have gone wrong?

Neil,

Try the following to open the yuv10 file

LEAD Technologies Inc. V1.01
LEAD Technologies Inc. V1.01
ensure you change to all files or you will not be able to select yuv10 files

For others reading the thread, the patterns can be downloaded from:

http://tech.ebu.ch/docs/tech/tech3325_testpatterns.zip

The only interesting pattern is EBU_3325_1080_7.yuv10

EBU_3325_1080_7.png

The file format is interleaved 4:2:2 YUV (UYVY) with 10-bit samples in big-endian 16 bit words. This format could handle up to 16-bit YUV, and it's pretty much a waste of space for 10-bit YUV.

100% Agree, all other patterns are not something special, most of them are for measuring panel uniformity or topic contrast of different a parts of the screen.

That's the reason i used only this pattern to my 2010 Calibration Disk (unreleased to public) wink.gif

The pattern has below black and above white, so it's more interesting in video level RGB.

Thanks again Ron for your help, reaaly appreciated.
One more question i have is that im looking at designing a few flashing and moving custom test patterns but alas ive not been able to locate any details or information on how to create these within a .avs script.

Wondering if anyone knows or could point me in the right direction?

Thanks

The way I have done it in the past (am sure there is an easier way) was to load the relevant still pictures in the first part of the script (like normal) and then at the bottom clip 3 equal clip1+clip2+clip1+clip2 for as long as required, turns out like a long script.

With the -v option. For example:

yuv10torgb -v 1920 1080 EBU_3325_1080_3_06.yuv10 test.tga

You can also combine options.

yuv10torgb -bv 1920 1080 EBU_3325_1080_3_06.yuv10 test.bmp
