Hey guys, I can't seem to find the white balance settings on my Sony Bravia KLV-40EX43B... it's not in the advanced option. Where can I find it? Need to bring the reds down cuz the red is really screwing up the whites in Cinema / Warm mode. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance guys!

There is a color temperature setting you can try.

Greetings

Looks like it is in the service menu somewhere. You will have to go there to fix it ... but be sure you know what you are doing or you can kill your tv in there too.

The Cinema/Warm mode is the closest to 6500... so I will stick to that, but the whites are red tinted, making whites look brownish. I have entered the service menu but there are no white balance controls there, which I find is weird. Does every Sony screen have a white balance control? Im tuning it by eye, while waiting for the DVE disc to arrive. It is known that most Sony panels are red biased, especially in Warm... btw, the screen has only 3 colour temperature settings, which is Cool, Neutral and Warm.

Sounds like my JVC LT-32DR9BJ. Just a shame I can't find any information on the JVC service menus to familiarise myself like I did with my old 2006 Samsung to calibrate.

Greetings

Most do, but the budget level units might not have it ... or the ones that sony farms out for others to build.

Download or Buy the Official Service PDF Manual of your Display.

I don't recommend you to do anything without official instructions.

Maybe there no White Balance Controls inside the Service Menu. frown.gif

Maybe the Factory Calibration Controls are available only via Sony's Service PCMCIA Card Slot Connection, and not at the menu you have access at your attached picture.

Your Service Manual

Don't try anything at this menu, a wrong entry will damage your TV.

I don't see the White Balance Controls to be available to your Service Menu. frown.gif

Why would you think that? Sony doesn't even make all the TVs they sell. When you contract another factory to build your TV, they are often quite different than the ones you make yourself -- and that's exactly what happens with Sony and just about every other manufacturer. In fact, it is common to see calibration controls in the "best" models a company sells, and those controls tend to disappear as you move down the model line, even if the manufacturer makes their own less expensive models.
