Regional differences in displays and sources can screw you aswell.

It can be difficult to varify what is going on without a reference of some type. This is not stating that HDMI from PC's does not work, but more about attempting to atleast try and varify that it is working as you need.

Test with as many sources as you can, consensus tends to favour the majority.
exactly why I am renting the PG.
my laptop and BluRay player
are different on green and then blue.
green the worse and then blue and red is equal.
minor differences, I believe the laptop is closer to ref.

If your after a reference tested Bluray player, check out this site...

http://hometheaterhifi.com/blu-ray-p...s-reviews.html

They test the HDMI output using a high end HDMI analyser, I got my Panasonic DMP-BDT210 after finding this review site and it only cost me $75 off ebay, which was given the following reference table...

received the rental at 1 pm.
well packaged and a nice setup.
unpacking, reading, installing, hooking up and running patterns @ 40 min.

I have it set for 10% windows and the first pattern is full screen white.
last pattern is full screen gray.
is this changeable?

so far I am impressed with this little gem.

Just shipped it back.
overall happy I rented it.
I was able to verify the Bluray and laptop I currently use.

If I was a pro I think the DVDO would be in my kit.

Not in the configuration I was using.
The laptop/ I had set to use the GPU(vid card) color settings.
I had to select "use program settings" option.
The original settings were close but after selecting "program" they were
within a tenth on x/y.

The Bluray was closer than I thought because I was comparing it to the laptop which I had set wrong.

After getting the subtle vid card HDMI settings sorted out, the Bluray on YCB 4:4:4 limited was closer than I originally thought.
Not as precise as the Laptop after correcting settings but not as far out as to botch a calibration.

Errors were in the low grayscale, 0-40. pushed a little blue and was lite on green.
And Color errors were Blue and lesser green.

The original settings I was using were not majorly out just a little out
But those little errors would be built on.
The reported values needed to be adjusted for and those adjustments require other adjustments.

With worries over meters and ref spectros and profiles, having a pattern source in question just added to the " is that right"? dilemma.

hope that makes sense.

Well done.

What this shows, despite assurances that PC HDMI outputs can be accurate, is that you have to set a number of settings correctly for it to output somewhat accurately. Without a reference or a way to measure directly the output you may never know which combination of settings is right. This is the basic problem with PC outputs, there is no consistency between brands, models, variants and drivers of video cards to be able to state strict settings.

Ironically, in the strict settings sense, models of DVD/BD players that have been validated are arguably a better reference because there is less to screw up.

ATI Radeon HD 3200
I found a bunch of different driver version on line.
I am using the orig from 2012. I thought it was 08 but after looking at all the versions, it is 12.
It was so close to ref that I did not try the 3 other newer versions.
I had my hands full trying to make the testing accurate that driver changes were only if there was a big difference from the PG.

Thanks. I was leaning to the vid card being more accurate.
but I found the Bluray was better until I straightened out the vidcard settings.
now they are real close.

learned a few lessons too boot.
