Jumping over from the LG OLED thread where we just talked about the CR250-RH firmware upgrades...

So, I've not upgraded my firmware since purchase, and I'm not having any problems with my calibrations, that I'm aware of...

Have there been any critical updates since launch where perhaps I DO need to consider a firmware upgrade??

I'm currently only calibrating LCD, OLED TVs and SXRD projector, but have a JVC Z1 laser incoming in a couple of weeks.

Thanks.

The Firmware upgrade just adds a few new features...should not affect the way the meter reads.

Hi Mark. CR250RH at earlier firmware, they added new improved sync mode, so this affects readings in a good way, faster, more stable etc.

There also firmware update at past for CR-100 which improved a lot (sync) and also the near black measurement performance significantly.

There meter updates where any user can perform (this is why they make them available for download to public), but there some times where the meter or hardware has to come back to the factory, to install the newer firmware (which will require meter re-certification also).

Do any of the public firmwares, eg the current one, need any of the factory ones first? Or are they completely different types of update? In other words, could I go ahead and do the update to the current firmware without worrying about the factory-only stuff...?

I understand how you load optional color matching functions such as the judd vos into the utility program but how do you tell the CRI app whether to use one or not?

I tried loading it into the utility app and assumed that the CR250 would just use it until it's removed but my x,y,Y results in CRI App are the same with or without it in the utility. I also unplugged the spectro after making changes for the changes to take from what I underststand in the manual.

I'm using a 65B6P and for all I know, the reading might be the same both ways. I don't know but based on a statement about Judd Vos adding about 10% blue, that appears to be more neutral to the eye.

On the CR250RH, synch modes of PAL, NTSC and CINEMA have been added to None and Manual with this latest firmware update.

So if you're using this on a North American display using a OLED panel that's 120hz, do you use NTSC which I'm guessing is 60hz or use manual and adjust the frequency to 120hz?

Edit: I think I may have answered my own question. NTSC is the old analog standard that was discontinued, so it would seem that I'd use manual and 120hz? or am I missing something here???????

Klein K-10A, CR250, i1D3, i1Pro2, Calman Enthusiast, LG 65B6P, Panasonic 65VT50, and a great wife that puts up with all this.:)

Hello Jim

Ok...here is the way I understand the new setting.
PAL is 50Hz or multiples of that frequency
NTSC is 60Hz or multiples of that frequency
CINEMA is 24Hz or multiples of that frequency

so NTSC would work because 120Hz is a multiple of 60Hz

Hope that helps.

Ray....

Can you review how the Color Matching Function works in the utility program. I know we talked about it but for the life of me I don't remember what you said. Sorry. ...and I now see a CIE 2006 as a downloadable CMF.
