Doing some precal runs after setting all the pic mode settings the same.......it seams that Cal dark and Cal had the same grayscale and CMS.
Vivid and game matched the grayscale of the Cal's and standard was different. The CMS of vivid, standard and game shared the same CMS which differed from the Cal's.
For the most accuracy, use Cal and Cal Dark.
I calibrated DV today and the CMS is still hosed.... Nothing crazy. Everything was pretty much a 4 dE and less but saturation was very high for many colors from 0 to 80% color sweeps.

@Matt McRae I'm disappointed you posted year old DVGR files. But I am glad you posted them. No other manufacturer is. DV color saturations are very wacky unlike HDR 10 and SDR.
Please, please fix...I beg. 😉

2016 Vizio P Series Calibration Thread

@skschatzman So I'm not alarmed by any of your pre-cal data at all. The full saturations of the colors are pretty typical. Red is always a little short on these. Green is the least of your worries. The rest can be corrected for the most part with a hue adjustment and some saturation tweaks. Pay the most attention to 25-50%. That's where your skin tones live in SDR. Don't try to hard to get your dE for full saturation low. 70% of your calibration is gray balance and alignment to the gamma curve. Once gray balance and luminance is correct throughout the scale, focus on hue alignment in saturations sweeps and then get your 25%-50% saturations tight. Let full saturation do what it does. Overall, you should be able to get you hue alignment pretty good, but 100% will always have some variance in both Hue and Saturation as you dealing with the extent of the panels capability. After you've done your saturations sweeps, do the color checker and focus on skin tones. That is going to be a saturation adjustment for the most part unless you didn't get the hue correct in sweeps. There are some other problematic colors but don't go nuts over it. Be VERY careful with the CMS brightness setting for primaries. In SDR, large brightness corrections (more than a few points) can cause odd posterization in your falloff to white.

@beardontwalk123 , a couple of questions.

1) For HDR10, you're leaving Color at 58, correct? I know you've been asking about this in the owner's thread and haven't seen a response.
2) For DV and HDR10, does it matter if you use Calibrated or Calibrated Dark? Are they both identical at default with Gamma 2.4, or are there under-the-hood differences?
3) My P65 is in my living room, with a window and sliding glass door behind it that I don't have curtains or blinds on. I find Netflix DV content, like Iron Fist, to just be too dark. Is there anything I can do, or am I stuck a) dealing with it in the daylight or b) waiting and watching DV content at night?

Correct, I am leaving HDR10 and DV on stock settings for now. I only use 2.4 because that is the best preset for SDR and I don't like switching Picture Modes. You could use stick Calibrated, which you should find to be much better for your taste and defaults gamma to 2.1.

I understand how to do that via my Sony UHD player etc, but what about from a casting source? I'm currently trying to change the white balance for Dolby Vision on Netflix via Google Cast. Thanks for the assistance. Your settings rock.

It won't be possible for Dolby Vision... Sorry.

Edit; Unless when you are starting a DV program and pause it before it ramps up 4k? That might be possible.

Thanks for update....No dice with pausing before ramp up to 4k with Dolby Vision. Are you able to get around it because you are using a test pattern? Also was it a major change with the beta 3.2.8.3 for Dolby so if I change Color Tuner but not white balance I'll still be relatively good in your opinion?

If you only do CMS I'd probably set gamma to 2.2 though you might be fine with 2.4. Just have to try it.

So when a DV program starts, it kicks straight to 4k?

Ok I'll do that (2.2) but no it ramps up so I can pause it via Vudu or Netflix in 1080 and it stays there with DV activated but it still gives the 4k error that I need a calibration pattern to make changes. It was definitely a nice suggestion. Guess I'll just have to wait on a hot fix

@shoman94 glad to see you go back to 2.2 gamma. 2.4 gamma just felt like it was crushing blacks without making a difference to 0%.
Curious as to what changed your perspective?

Don't bother with DV 11pt settings because it will go back to 0, right?

For DV 2pt only, lower the backlight to 40 for DV content.
