Today we are releasing CalMAN 2016 Version 2, available for download now at SpectraCal.com

Release Notes


New License Manager


CalMAN’s license manager has been enhanced to improve its security and convenience.


· Existing licenses are automatically upgraded to the new license scheme the first time you launch CalMAN 2016 Version 2.


· New license portal allows you to see and manage your customer account and your licenses.



Additional Meter Support


· CRI CR-300 Spectroradiometer (Ultimate, Professional, Studio, Studio Lite)


· TopCon BM-7A Colorimeter (Ultimate, Professional, ISF, Expert, Studio, Studio Lite)


· TopCon RS-3AR Spectroradiometer (Ultimate, Professional, ISF, Studio, Studio Lite)


· JETI Spectraval 1501 Spectroradiometer (Ultimate, Studio, Studio Lite, Professional, Expert)

Additional Pattern Generator Support

Additional 3D LUT Support


· Flanders Scientific BoxIO. 1D LUT, 3D LUT, and internal test pattern support. When a 1D LUT or a 3D LUT is written to a selected memory slot, the LUT is written to both the display output and the internal pattern generator output. The LUTs can be separately enabled or disabled for the internal pattern generator output on the Source Settings tab, for flexibility when verifying the LUTs. Requires firmware 1.45. (Ultimate, Studio)


· Black Magic Teranex Mini. Added 3D LUT entry in the SpectraCal Cube Generator (Ultimate, Studio)


· Atomos Shogun Infernal, Shogun Flame, Shogun Studio, Ninja Flame, and Ninja Assassin models. 3D LUT ready to be manually loaded, internal test pattern support (Ultimate, Studio)


· Murideo Prisma LUT Box. Added 1D LUT support and autoloading LUTs by CalMAN. (Ultimate, Studio, Professional, Enthusiast)


· Lumagen Radiance Pro. Added HDR pattern generator support. This is pattern generator support only; we do not yet recommend HDR AutoCal with the Radiance Pro. (Ultimate, Profesional, Expert, Studio, Enthusiast, Control)


· Lumagen Radiance. Added a new 709 CMS Mode drop down in the DDC controls for the Lumagen Radiance. This option allows the user to set how the Radiance applies the LUT: Linear or Source (perceptual space). Linear is the default and this is how the Radiance has always worked prior to this new change. (Ultimate, Professional, Expert, Studio, Enthusiast, Control)




Issues Resolved


· CalMAN can now correctly create ICC Profiles for Client 3 when a gamma formula was used that used measured black instead of 0 for black. (Ultimate, Professional, ISF, Expert, Enthusiast, Studio, Studio Lite, RGB)


· HDR Workflow has been generally enhanced. AutoCal button on the Color Management System Adjust layout in the HDR Workflow now operates correctly. (Ultimate, Professional, Expert, Studio, Enthusiast)


· Quantum Data 804. Resolved an issue with display of the ANSI Checkerboard pattern. (Ultimate, Professional, Studio)

I tried to update and the software is asking for my License "Password"...I never received a password with my license. I just upgraded to Enthusiast two days ago. Any ideas?

I have the same situation. I have enthusiast, but it didn't transfer my license and I am stuck with Evauation mode.

I had also a valid license it also showed me the splash screen wich told me that my maintenance is valid but now it don't work. The support told me to renew my license wtf? And now they ignore my emails good support by the way I'm going to make a trade in with Lightspace what kind of sales marketing is this?! I was a loyal customer for years

The main update worked for me, but it did break my secondary install.

I probably shouldn't be using a secondary install, but the way I like to work is: laptop is the primary - the one I use for calibrations. The secondary is my PC - the one I like to experiment with - eg design mode for creating workflows - bigger screen makes it a lot easier.

But the new "convenient" license manager is now smarter and inconveniently won't allow the secondary install to run.

So, for anybody out there using multiple installs: beware.

Here is what worked for me.

I went to the account login page, entered my email address and clicked on "forgot password? I received an email that provided my customer ID and password as well as the licence IDs and passwords for the products I own. I then logged into my account with the customer ID and password. I can now view and manage all my licenses and activations along with my customer information.

I would go back to an elder CalMAN Version if this is the case, and like you know LightSpace has a good Trade-Up offer if you´re not satisfied with customer service of Spectracal.
The customer-support I experienced with LightIllusion so far was really flawless!

I am also SpectrCal customer for years, but the support was much better in the past...

I also had to get a new username and password emailed to me. Dolby Vision Calibration doesn't work after this recent update either. I have reached out to CalMAN and they have been responsive to me. I was told a fix should be coming today for that. It was a longer weekend with Presidents Day. So they have been pretty good at replying imo.....

Hello,

Case description:

- Sony VPL-VW550ES projector (4K + HDR)
- Lumagen Radiance Pro

What's the way to go calibration wise?
I mean, the projector has only one User profile that you can calibrate, and the Lumagen is more versatile and can save different calibration profiles (CMS + LUT)
So do you calibrate the projector for 4K + HDR + Rec.2020? what happens to all the Rec.709 material?
And what about the Lumagen do you also run only a Rec.2020 calibration? or also a Rec.709?

Hi, after 15 days, nothing came to fix that issue, a temp solution (until SpectraCAL release a fix) is to rollback to an earlier CalMAN Open Beta which don't have time-bomb from here: http://www.spectracal.com/forum/view...p?f=135&t=6141

CalMAN 2016 R2 Home Theater version 5.7.2 RC3 released.

Changes since previous RC

Resolved an issue which would cause CalMAN to crash when displaying Dolby patterns.
Resolved an issue which would cause an error message to popup with pattern changes on the Quantum Data 780 and 804 series pattern generators running the latest firmware.
When setting the Murideo Six-G for HDR-10, we now default to RGB Limited instead of RGB Full.
