WOW! The Jasper has been found!!!!!

WOW, and Thanksgiving to boot!!!!

Guess I will have to venture out on Black Friday

Apparently the key is:

10/23/2008 0843X FDOU Team

last digits of the serial indicate 8 = 2008 43 = 43rd week in the year.

Update: Also appears that this one has the Jasper:

0842 CSON

Systems have been opened and we have Jaspers!!!!!

Good luck with that. Most of the stock I've seen on the shelves is a few months old with a sprinkling of builds from right around the time Jasper was apparently put on the assembly line.

The 150W PSU looks like a good clue to Jasper, but it still isn't proof. Come back and try again when you have pictures of the inside, with physical measurements. As it stands, wegafan, you are propping up conjecture as fact.

my 1 month old xbox 360 has a 175w AC adapter and it says 14.2A on the back of the console so something has changed...

it could be.

There could be another change that means the console needs less current.

Perhaps the VRM is more efficient? Perhaps the new DVD drive needs less power? Perhaps the 175W was already more than enough?

Until you post pictures of a smaller GPU, it is conjecture.

Its the internet.. you will always have someone questioning something. Even AFTER you show proof.

The drop to 150w, 12.1 PSU is surely enuff for me to believe..

I think it is a pretty good bet it is Jasper. The 12.1 and the 150w shows something has changed. Which means it is either a great photoshop job, another version inbetween Falcon and Jasper....perhaps the Cougar??? Or it is in fact the Jasper. As I mentioned I will go looking for one tomorrow. I guess technically until they are opened up nothing is final, but it is good enough for me. Plus one of the guys says it runs cool as ahhm something cool. That is not a direct quote though. Good Luck!!!

Pffffft!!! You all are cracked.

The Phantom is where it is at. It doesn't even need a PSU. It has it's own mini hydro-electric plant built in.

One of the guys in my adult gaming group said his 360 just RROD'd. He claims it was a Jasper. I asked how he knew that but I haven't heard back from him. I'm pretty skeptical that it was a Jasper but who knows. I will post back if I hear from him.

Good Q. Not sure.

However, one has been opened and there appears that there is more confirmation.

http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=668104

Plus the guy who opened his, says it runs cooler than any 360 he has used even in game. Good news perhaps. Also mentioned that it appears they went with overkill on the heatsinks even with the smaller chips to make certain there is no overheat. Time will tell. Only Arcade has confirmed at least as far as I have read.

I have never seen a console in my life that gets this amount of buzz each time a new revision comes out. Its like a relaunch of the console all over again. People get that excited and just have to get it. Watch every one trade in there falcons now....

I would only be excited if they get rid of the X clamps as that seems to be the root of most of the problems , I mean a 65nm chip can still overheat .

Hey cool! The machine now has 256MB of flash built on-board. No more 256MB memory card shipping with the Arcade systems. I wonder if that same 256MB will be there when Jasper migrates to the 60GB and Elite?

Is that what the site says? It's blocked from work. I figured they'd put more memory on board for the NXE, actually.

Anyway, I figure most of the systems on shelves are a few months old. Obviously because of Christmas and because they wanted to put out that press release about outselling the Xbox 1. MS loves these BS sales milestones, while the Wii is kicking their ass every day of the year.

Will be interesting to see if there are two different versions. One with one without. Does not seem necessary with HDD versions unless I am missing something. Plus, having the memory card helps with moving profiles. Who knows...

If only we could have average time used statistics between the 360, PS3 and the Wii. However, we do not have this info.

As for my percentage for my three consoles:

360: 96%

PS3: 3.9%

Wii: 0.1%

Now that is just a rough estimate; however, I think the Wii percentage is a little high. Could be the least used $200 purchase I have ever made. The PS3 is a little high too; however, I did not know whether to give them blueray credit toward percentages...so I did.

Nope...They are just requiring 256k memory card for it. I think it is a way they are pushing folks to get a HDD.
