MCC with Grunt Funeral turned on is sheer bliss

also (apologies for not reading the entire thread, first time here) my best bet for xbox deals is a slickdeals alert with instant email anytime I get a hit.

For those still shopping for consoles, I have to share my best buy story... three weeks ago, Best Buy was running a $175 trade in (towards XBox One) for an "S" 360 but I asked a manger (not service counter) to price match Wal-Mart's bundle which included an extra controller and Watch Dogs and they agreed. I could give a rip about free software but the extra controller is good value. I walked out with Destiny, Garden Warfare, 500GB MCC XBone, Watch Dogs, and extra controller for $240-ish after my trade in. Oh and I got a $20 bounceback reward zone certificate to boot.

Apparently a lot of people are having success with that deal - BB apparently will rotate it on and off at regular intervals.

I did not hear this. Even more reason why I'll wait before getting the Taken King. Wont be preordered by me nor purchased until discounts are applied. HEAVY discounts are applied.
I really don't like how, and I think this is more Activision than Bungie, they are managing content.

here's the retail disc link :

https://www.destinythegame.com/taken-king/wheretobuy

nevermind on the second one - I went back to the destiny site - it's $40 straight up for JUST The Taken King which does not include the two previous expansions.

So the best you can do is that $60 disc and then figure out how to dump your previous disc

sorry for the confusion - my bad.

I think the previous expansions will be marked down to $10 each once The Taken King launches.

Me... I'm level 15 finding my way through Venus so I have a ways to go before I need any DLC

Yeah--the $60 disc includes the root game, the first two expansions and The Taken King; it's $40 for The Taken King by itself, which is only available as a DD and requires that you already own the other expansions. Given that I paid $60 for the pre-order version of the game and $35 for the pass that included the first two expansions the $60 disc is an incredible deal over the $135 I'll have spent if I buy The Taken King. (If you want it all digital you have to buy the $80 "Digital Collector's Edition", still a $55 savings over my outlay ).

the value proposition of the initial $60 seems kinda okay - from what I've heard these DLC offerings are just incredible rip-offs though (not that I won't play them, mind you...)

"Incredible rip-offs" is pretty strong. I suppose that on reflection The Dark Below and House of Wolves together may or may not have been worth the $35 they cost me; probably not worth the $20 each they cost if bought individually. I'd definitely say that they're worth the current $25 sale price for both.

Bungie is insisting that The Taken King is not just DLC but a new game (yeah right ). It does add a healthy dose of new gameplay, with new locations, new enemies, new story missions (with, apparently, cinematic cutscenes as you go along of which the first two expansions had none of), new gear and new capabilities (subclasses) for each character class. (There are three types of elemental damage, being Void, Solar and Arc; to this point each of the three character classes--Warlock, Hunter and Titan--had two subclasses built around one or the other elemental damage type: Warlocks Void and Solar, Hunters Arc and Solar, Titans Arc and Void. A new subclass is being added to every character class so that they'll all have subclasses for each of the elemental damage types).

All and all Destiny has had pretty strong "legs" for those of us who've really gotten into it. It can get pretty repetitive, but the combat is a lot of fun and the graphics are gloriously beautiful. You can play it alone or co-op with a couple of friends; in any case you're never entirely alone in the game world and there are frequent events in most areas in which every one around can participate and get rewarded for. I'm about 400 hours in (having started the game 690 times) and I know people with more than twice that. It's easy to imagine ways in which the experience could have been improved but I think that I've had my money's worth.

fair enough - I haven't played them yet. Still slogging through the main campaign. There's an awful lot to like in this game. It just doesn't measure up narratively to Bungie's prior offerings.

Walmart has the Microsoft Xbox One 500GB Console Halo Master Chief Collection Bundle + Extra Xbox One Wireless Controller + Choice of Xbox One Game for $349 with free shipping. This bundle would be over $400 if purchased separately on Amazon.

The MCC bundle includes a headset and The Master Chief's entire story with Halo Combat Evolved: Anniversary, newly remastered Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo 3, and Halo 4.

Apparently there is a coupon inside Post cereals (like fruity pebbles and golden crisp (the one with suga bear)) that gives $10 off $25 at microsoftstore.com. People have used the coupon for Xbox live currency as well. Coupon is valid till May 2016.

Pretty good deal. I'm not sure what to do with the cereal though, lol.

Best Buy is taking $45 off two select Xbox One or PlayStation 4 games (discount reflected in cart). Mortal Kombat X ($60) and Borderlands: The Handsome Collection ($60) are $75 with free shipping. That combo would be $90 on Amazon.

One set of discounted games per person.

Free Xbox One Controller w/ purchase, limited offer

Edit: I ordered one of these Sun night, but just checked and it's over. Guess it was limited. I needed a reason to spend the extra $50 on a 1TB unit - the additional controller convinced me - it was a great deal!

Not a deal but I notice that Amazon now has a large selection of Xbox One digital downloads as they've had for PS3 and PS4 for years. Every one of them, however, would seem to be full price while many of the disc versions of them are significantly discounted. The only good reason to have them there is if they can discount DDs over MS' price. Otherwise I might as well buy it from MS without having to input a code.

Xbox One for well under $200 yet again, after factoring in the freebies.

Console + $50 Gift Card + Extra Controller + Game

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/null/fre...at395100050000

Warning: no Kinect but there are plenty of options including that upgrade and/or a 1GB HD.

This offer is especially tempting since you can pick up the latest controller revision as part of the deal.

Go ahead and pick up that needed extra $65 controller or just go ahead and jump on a second, third, or even fourth extra console for just a few bucks more... decisions..!
