There are many threads detailing the pros/cons of the games themselves, and likely buried within the threads is the essence of this question. However, since GH:WT instruments will work in RB2 it begs the question (since you can now choose) - which guitar would you use for RB2? Would you stay w/ the intended RB2 guitar or would you get a GH:WT guitar?

FYI, I have smaller hands (so I'm assuming the RB2 guitar would be a better fit). Also, I really don't want to replace these things very quickly, so reliability / quality build is important.

What say you guys?

*I had this question buried in a differant thread, I thought it made more sense to start a thread dedicated to this particular question*

Which game do you play the most, Rock Band or Guitar Hero? That pretty much answers the question, doesn't it?

End of thread.

I prefer the rockband guitar, some of my friends like the GH guitar (I have both) we have been through 2 GH3 guitars plus 2 GHWT guitars (broken out of the box) still on the original RB instruments.

If you play Rock Band even 1/3rd of the time I'd say the calibration feature is worth the cost of admission on that guitar alone. It could be psychological but I'd venture its even helped my singing scores being properly calibrated.

I hardly ever use the lower frets so I don't think the touch strip would interest me any in GHWT unless I was heavy into the song maker where it has special features.

Before RB2 came out I preferred using the GH3 guitar over the RB1 guitar

But now I much prefer the RB2 guitar over the GH:WT guitar.

-auto calibration is very nice...my accuracy and scores are much better with RB2 guitar than with the GH:WT guitar
-i actually prefer the more flush fret buttons on the RB2 guitar
-i prefer the "softer" strummer
-i know its silly but the RB2 guitar seems a little less "toyish".

GH = geared for Kids to young adults.
RB = geared for mature adults.

My personal take on this.

I returned my GH:WT setup for 2 RB2 guitars and the game. I'm happy w/ my decision.

I never had an RB1 guitar, but I did always like the GH3 LP. But I have to agree with every point you've made here, even the 'less toyish' one.

one con of the ghwt guitar is the touch strip doesn't work in rock band 2. i know this seems like it doesn't matter but there is an acheivement in rock band 2 for getting 100% in a solo using only the bottom fret buttons. no can do with ghwt guitar!

edit: don't get me wrong though, i actually prefer the guitar hero (les paul and new pseudo-caster) to the rock band ones. don't know why, the fret buttons just feel better to me. i do admit, i have never used a rock band 2 guitar so maybe i shouldn't judge. i just know the rock band 1 guitar's strummer sucked and i never liked the fret buttons. i think there just wasn't enough tactile difference (too recessed) for difficult songs.

I've been using the Fender Precision Bass Replica (for Rock Band) and tried to use a Guitar Hero 3 guitar and I hated how the frets were separated. I'm sure there are logical arguments to be made here, but a big part is going with what you're used to. That argument could also be made for Rock Band vs. Guitar Hero as well, but that doesn't taken into account the fact that Guitar Hero just blows.

Agreed. The RB2 guitar is very nice. One day though I'm hoping they use button right before the normal ones for the solo buttons. The solo buttons are useless for anyone with decent sized fingers.
