I'm thinking about hooking my 360 up to an LCD monitor, for convenience purposes. I want a monitor that is at least 24", which means I'm likely looking at 1920x1200 resolutions. I have a premium model 360, with all types of cables available to me (hdmi, vga, component.)

First off, which cable type would be best? I'm guessing resolution on the 360 is capped to 1080p, so should I just stick with HDMI?

Second, has anyone done this? Could you let me know what type of results to expect?

Here are some of the monitors I'm considering. If you have any experience with them at all, please chime in:

Hanns HG-281dpb (28", hdmi + vga)

Scepter X24wg-1080p (24", no HDMI, would have to use HDMI-DVI cable)

Asus VW246H (the only native 1080p monitor I've considered, but for pc I'd rather have 16:10)

Asus VK266H (26", non hdcp compatible, which I read might cause issues for the xbox)

It works fine.
Seen it on Westinghouse and Gateway 24" displays.
Yes, 1080p is the limit.
It works with component, VGA, and HDMI (or DVI) so the question is which port do you have available.

How well it works depends on the monitor and how it handles 1080p input; the ones I've seen letterbox it.

Yeah this is how they do it, small black bars on top and bottom if they do 1:1 mapping. Either VGA or HDMI would work fine....

I've done on a Samsung 24 via HMDI to DVI, I played at 1080p (No opition for 1200) and forget to turn on 1:1 but still it looekd quite good.

Good to hear. I think I'm gonna go with the 28" Hanns, and hook up both xbox and pc via hdmi with a hdmi switch from monoprice. Seems like a good deal price per inch wise. Thanks-

just check, because the last time i looked at that monitor (which was last year, before i decided to go with a 32" HDTV over a LCD PC monitor) it didn't have 1:1 pixel mapping, and you DO want 1:1 pixel mapping on whichever monitor you decide to go with...
