Yeah I just checked and see the achievements but no Vietnam weapons/pins/insignias... Maybe they took them off already?

wow, couldn't possibly agree more. vidgames just do that to me. negotiating rush-hour traffic is at least ten-thousand times more frustrating, and i don't cuss like i do during gaming. and not just bfbcs2... (Super Street Fighter 4 is HARD!)

although i sometimes wonder if i'm annoying my squadmates, i agree that most gamers probably aren't bothered by cussing. the game itself cusses on occasion, so i'm certainly not infringing upon virgin ears, at least! short of that, i expect that my pals will kindly TELL ME if i'm raging too much, or my tv is too loud, etc.

but the last part i identify with, the most: if you hear me bitching, it's 99.9% because i've let myself down. done something dumb, hit the wrong button, fired the rocket off .8 seconds later than i should have, fired half a clip into the air two feet above a guy's head. most gamers simply don't have the ability to make me mad, like *i* do.

Fo sho. It's gaming-induced Tourette's, usually triggered by, for example, suicide by way of RPG into the tank 6 inches in front of my face. That's guaranteed to cause me to let loose with a stream of obscenities.

I find myself cussing a lot at myself, as well. Or more specifically, the ingame character. They are so damn clumsy and cumbersome. I get stuck on stupid rocks and boulders and other crap way too often. I get killed a lot that way, actually. It's not like I don't know my way around. All games are like this but with the pace of the action and the intricate design of the levels, I often get stuck on something and it really sends me off into a cussing fit.

This may have been asked before and if so I spologize, but is there anyway to practice flying the helos without going into an online game? Thanks.

Sadly no. Although I read there is some onslaught level where you may be able to fly? You'd have to buy that DLC though.

Here to help and learn. Thanks AVS.

Thanks guys.

I have been watching some videos on this and one guy feels changing the controls to the original Battlefield setting for flying are a lot better. I will give that a try so I apologize up front in case I make some of us eat some trees or dirt!

I looked at the control mappings, and I think the original is better. I really wish I could modify the controls to more closely map real controls (left stick to the collective, right stick to the cyclic, and the left and right triggers - or bumpers - to the anti-torque pedals). That would be more intuitive to me.

At least in the original, the left stick is a combination of the collective (tho reversed) and the anti-torque controls.

I just need to get some stick time to practice.

regarding chopper lessons - just freakin jump in. It's the only way to learn. Coincidentally, it's also the best way to learn. If you want some help, just ask if anyone's willing to die to help you out. I'll jump in and gun and give you some pointers. I'm sure others would, too.

Yeah, closest thing is Onslaught mode, private match, choose Atacama Desert.
The first spawn has an Apache. If you're the only player in the match you will have unlimited lives/respawns. You can do the same on Isla with the Blackhawk, but all you'll be able to do is practice dodging rockets with no gunner.

I can't believe they don't have a "tutorial" map on this game. I remember in 1943, you could always start up the tutorial essentially gives you access to all vehicles on an empty Wake Island to practice.

I got a little bit of seat time today. Felt like I was getting the hang of it, tho I was not the nimblest cat at the ball.

Tho I got in a Blackhawk on Heavy Metal, went into a hover with the collective, yawed left with the anti-torque, and promptly exploded. Must have smacked the tail into something being that low to the ground.

i totally agree. to hell with people who whine about this kind of thing-- everyone had to learn, sometime. so i second the notion-- i'll be more than happy to help in any way i can.

i screwed up the multi-quote and am too lazy to go back and do it right, but Scott-- totally agree. i love how my well-trained, highly-specialised killing machine is too damn feeble-minded to traverse a six-inch bump on the ground, without a full-on Bob Beamonesque leap. So what control style are people saying is the "right" style?

I've been considering ditching the "plat guns" plan and instead answering my true calling - chopper whore

exo, how'd you like your training op on Atacama?

From what I saw, you had the basics down pretty well. I'd suggest a couple things:

1. Get used to using the rudder to maneuver. Sliding left/right will help confuse the enemy. I often fly at a slight angle b/c it throws people off and looks cooler.

2. Get used to the angles you can pitch the chopper. Flying around level like you were makes you super-easy for tracerdarts.

To the rest - great games tonight. We rock'em hard on White Pass and as usual, everyone dropped. I have a couple new guys who got the game used from GameFly for $15. It came with a VIP code and he joined at the very end (as most of you left). I stayed on with him and taught him some of the fun basics. I then joined the other team and taught him how to get raped. He's a BC1 veteran, so he already knows a lot about the game. GT is Tapeworm. Another friend will be joining us around Christmas most likely.

Zath,

It was not to bad since that was the one of the first times trying the different control setting. I will probably do some more this afternoon if I get a chance. I will give that Onslaught a go like lowgn was referring to.

A definite for the transport chopper. That's saved me so many times b/c I can see the rocket as the poor guy tries to vector it in . Plus I can laugh at all the tracer darts that fly by.
