Well, I think I may have convinced my friend to buy a 360. He wants to be able to rip his blu ray movies to an external HD and play them on the 360. I told him this would be no sweat, but I just want to double-check before he buys one. Anyone doing this right now? Thanks

it doesn't have to be lossless, just good quality 5.1 surround.
not sure if i understand the 2nd question but he's going to be ripping straight from the disc... i haven't really researched which format is best to convert to yet

also, i more just want to be sure this is physically feasible and not ridiculously difficult to do

well it goes from free and somewhat difficult to $50 one time fee and relatively easy.
