if the frame rate and colors and animations are this good I am super hyped for this game, plus the sheer tension and satisfaction of blowing away some zombies. It all there, the sheer number of new weapons, guns new shotguns pistols, melee weapons, and explosives. Its like Christmas level excitement.

Looks great! I think this is the last new game of the year I will be getting Day 1 after OpFlash2 tomorrow and DJ Hero in a few weeks. Can't wait to get some blood on my boots.

So why couldn't this be $20 DLC for the first game?

Now playing: Destiny, Madden, Diablo 3, PvZ: GW
Recently Finished: Infamous: First Light, Watch Dogs
PSN & XBL: Scuzzlebutt33

Because they make more money off of it this way

Honestly, it is as much content or more than the first game from the looks of things, so if people were willing to pay a full game price for the first one then people should be willing to pay full price for this as well.

As for me, I picked up L4D for $15 on a Steam sale. I think I will wait for L4D2 to go on sale as well, probably wont be too long after release that it does.

Looks like much of the same from the first game. The video never showed how the adrenaline was used or how melee weapons are. Is this game going to retail at $60? If so I'll pass, for $40, I might consider it.

im totally willing to pay full pop for this if it has as much content as the first. There was tons of game playing hour in it if you played on expert.

Why isn't it DLC? for the same reason, Madden 10 is not DLC. or Guitar Hero 5 is not DLC they make more money.

My guess us Valve has found a yearly update franchise, in a year there will be Left 4 Dead 3, with vehicles, and eveyone will buy that one also.

Its pretty clear to me, the industry is moving towards, year

I wouldnt... What fun would L4D be if you could get in a tank and crush all the little zombies easily, and blast the big ones away with the big gun? Not like a few people could pound a tank to death so you would be invincible from everything but the "tank" or maybe a boomer and his vomit. Even then the vomit attack isnt acidic so that wouldnt really work either. Vehicles would just be a dumb idea to add into the mix.

HEADS UP L4D2 Demo...

Buddy of mine just messaged me and said there is now one of those download & burn/USB stick demos out there (I guess the usual places as he didn't send any links). He did mention it's around 1.5 gig, if anybody finds it please let the forum know .

I had heard somewhere that if you pre-ordered you got a code or something for the demo early. That may have been PC only though not sure but I have heard similar things today about the demo.

Yeah it is the 'Pre-Order' demo, it's 1.68 gig.

Single player demo, Campaign = "The Parish" - Chapter = 1: "The Waterfront"

Pretty nice graphic upgrade from the first game.

The audio quality took a major hit when compared to the 1st. I'll definitely be getting the PC version.

After playing through the demo a couple times it just doesn't have the flair of the first L4D. The graphics start out seeming to be more impressive than the first but as you progress it looks about the same. The first game had a more ominous feel to it, of course this is just a demo and probably not the best of what part 2 has to offer (at least I would hope not). I agree that (based upon this demo) it feels like it should have been DLC.

The daylight scenery was a bad move and should've been kept out. 360v will be a rental for me simply for the avatar rewards.

I must have been in a coma during the console generation where DLC even remotely came close content wise to what you get with L4D2.

Paying $10 for some ****** map pack with three maps is the right way yo.

My point is that it could possibly be $30 worth of DLC vs. a $60 'new' game (again based upon this demo). In other words there is nothing in the demo that shows me it could not have been an add-on. Nothing in the demo makes me want to rush out and grab this on launch day (even though I probably will just because the first one was so much fun) .

In the land of insulting $10 map packs for generic war shooter #564, and Valve's own L4D DLC(2 maps) for $7, why would anybody honestly think something with as much content as L4D2 would be put out for $30?

Simply because there is nothing substantial enough here to warrant another $60 game IMHO (I was expecting more of an upgrade), again this is based upon the demo obviously since none of us has played the full game as of yet (maybe the demo is not the final code?). They could have done a weapons pack for $10, a character pack for $10 and then a map pack for $10. It has yet to be seen if the full game is truly worth the $60 price tag but I'll certainly have no trouble eating my words if it delivers far more than the first game without feeling like L4D 1.5 (which is exactly the feeling I get from playing the L4D2 demo). I am not knocking the game here either, it's fun, but I am getting that ODST vibe here all over (especially when you consider that Valve is notorious for expansions).

Just my honest opinion and no need to argue about it .

That's where we agree to disagree then, as I would never, ever pay $30 for what you mentioned.

Instead, I'd rather pay $50-60 and get(off the top of my head)

25 maps
4x the weapons
4 new characters
new regular infected
several new special infected
new items
a better looking game
a new game mode

...and stuff which Valve said couldn't be patched into the first game:

dynamic weather system
new animation
AI director 2.0
levels that randomly change paths
and who knows what else

It was bad enough when whiny PC gamers thought they were entitled to loads of cheap/free content, since at least there was some sort of precedence there. Why anybody who owns a console and is used to getting gouged would parrot that same thing is perplexing to me.

You are taking what I am saying the wrong way, I am not saying that I would pay $30 for the content that I mentioned either, what I am saying is that based upon this demo this feels more like it should be an expansion/add-on vs. a whole new game (that is my point and nothing more).

Have you played the demo, does it honestly feel like a new game or just a few add-ons?

I will say this again... my opinion is only based upon this demo .

I traded in the original L4D to the purchase of the new one and got the early demo access. Trade in value was $20.50 and the selling price is $54.99, so for $34.49 it's not too bad. Played the demo, and it's pretty much the same as the first except for the addition melee and gun weapons. I felt it was kind of an add on, but with the trade in, it's kind of worth it I guess?? Still believe they could have just stuck with the original one for another year at least.

I downloaded the demo and burned it, since I sure as hell would not buy a game from Gamestop

I also understand what you are saying, but you could say that about any game. I could say Modern Warfare 2 should be DLC since it uses the same sub HD 600p engine, it just adds some more maps, levels, weapons, etc. It's not going to feel like a new game, which is kinda the point. I think you are missing my point that this game would not exist if it was DLC. Or we would be paying $120 for it in **** micro-transactions.

I've played hundreds of hours of versus alone in the first game, and L4D2 feels like a sequel to me. Everything has more weight, image quality is improved, the lighting is a lot better, and the new special infected and new items will absolutely change how versus mode is played. There is a much larger jump than something like Gears 1 --> Gears 2 or a myriad of other games. I'm also not playing the demo in a vacuum, as I've heard what else will be in the game.

My only point is anybody wishing for DLC should honestly take a look at what most DLC currently offers.

It sucks for you xbox people, always paying so much for everything. I got this game on PC for $34, with access to the demo early, and updates are free for us. Even brand new, games are still only $50 or less. If all of you are complaining so much about prices and having to pay for everything, go get a PC. Its a better platform anyway
