not the best translation... lol

XBOX360 console ready to go, the new host CPU and the GPU is an integrated, small form factor and very different from the current 360, the first 5000 prototype testing phase has been carried out into the plant, the host is running fast, the host All buttons are touch-type.
想入XBOX360的朋友,等等吧!
XBOX360 would like to join a friend, and so on!
看人家索尼出了ps3 slim,微软终于忍不住了,(其实是忍不住X360红机的惨败)搞出了个不红的360薄版机。
See people out of Sony ps3 slim, Microsoft has finally could not resist, and (in fact, could not resist X360 red machine fiasco) to produce a red 360 with not a thin version of machines.
具体详情静候微软对这款新主机的测试结果吧!
Specific details of the wait for Microsoft's new console on the test results of this bar!
看来老版X360又一轮降价狂潮就要来了!
It seems the old version of X360 has a wave of price cuts should come!
消费者对XBOX360厚机的印象一向不好,尤 其是红过机器的朋友再次购买360都会心存芥蒂,我不是圣人,至少我会这样。
Consumers XBOX360-thick plane impression has always been bad, especially the red had a friend once again to buy 360 machines will be held a grudge, I am not saints, at least I would.
新款机的推出让X360的玩家又多了一个选择,主机防散装光盘方面也应该有所改进,想要刷光驱玩散装光盘,估计 没机会了!
The introduction of new machines to X360 players have an additional choice of the host anti-CD-ROM in bulk should also be improved and want to brush CD-ROM to play discs in bulk, it is estimated no chance!
或许也像PS3一样来个在线升级(个人猜测)。
Perhaps the same as the PS3 to a line upgrade (personal guess).

I wonder.... if the gpu and the cpu are on the same die won't it be faster in pratice due to less bottle necks such as bridges?

The 360 architecture has always had dedicated lines between CPU, EDRAM, and GPU with a view to its eventual integration to a single chip in the Valhalla Motherboard which has been generally expected this fall.

So if they're going to move the Valhalla by fall, it makes sense to be running test batches in the spring.

BTW, this mobo does *not* necessarily imply a new formfactor or case is coming. The chip integration is done primarily with an eye to cost-reduce the 360 Arcade to (eventually) $99.

The photos analyzed and disected:
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/di...lim-blog-entry

A couple interesting details:
The mobo directly supports digital audio out - no dongle needed
The mobo has two SATA connectors for in-case drives
The mounting holes are significantly different.

Also, there appears to be connector for an external power brick so an internal power ssupply doesn't appear to be in the design.

#1. Whats the die size ?? should be 45nm

#2. Watts power consumption is way down Jasper is 150 Watts or less I am guessing this one is 90 Watts like the 45nm PS3 Slim.

#3. What have they done with the 10MB EDRAM buffer, what makes the 360 have an edge over the PS3 and frame rate alot of time is that 10MB EDRAM, which has been credited for allowing the 360 to have 2xAA in many games that the PS3 does not.

#4. Whats the Data Transfer Rate ? A little known fact is that the old 20GB 360 has a 100MB/sec DTR hard drive to system. The Elite Jaspers with 120GB HDD have a 150MB/sec DTR not huge but a difference in addtion to an extra 6MB of Hard drive cache buffer. 2MB vs 8MB on the 120GB Jasper Elite.

#5. Hows the external HDD going to connect?

#6. Like the PS3 Slim, I am guessing Vertical placement would be discouraged because its so slim and unstable? But we need to see the case.

#7. With every die Shrink we have seen a $50 price drop
$399 to $349 to $299 this should then be $249.99 just in time for the Holiday 2010 madness.
But keep in mind what they have always done previously is drop the system price so that everyone buys up all the old model back stock. Then when all the old stock is gone they come out with the new Slim.

Sony did the same thing with the PS3 Fat Exactly the same thing Microsoft will do.

Sony dropped the 80GB PS3 Fat which included KillZone 2 and MGS 4 only $299, these Bundles FLEW off store shelves.

Microsoft will drop this bundle to $249.99 by Halloween I am guessing

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Microsof...&skuId=9808888

#8. Microsoft will show off the Final design at E3 2010 in a couple months. Which is great because SONY has basically shot its load already. SONY has outed the wand controller MOVE, and already launched God of War 3 which has sold well but not broken or even come close to touching HALO 3 numbers. So SONY's 2 biggest guns are done for 2010.

So at E3 2010 its all Microsoft, new console design, new peripheral Natal (final name was rumored to be MOVE but SONY stole that). Alot of Halo REACH and Gears of War 3 videos.

I guess that the 10mb embedded ram will be like a L2 or L3 shared cache.

i dont think you'll see an xbox slim, i do however think that mobo is legit, and eventually the power supply will make it inside of the xbox.

The price on the 360 will continue to drop as it ages. Im honestly surprised the Arcade is still $199.. The system is 5 years old now and the arcade has only dropped its original MSRP by 33% ($299 when launched). I would have thought it would have been priced at $149 by now, its amazing to see a console in its 5th year with so little reduction in price.

It seems as if the big 3 have agreed on a pricing structure and will not battle for absolute lowest cost. The Wii is priced the same as the arcade.. and the PS3 is only product that has reduced its priced by atleast 50% after being available for 4 years now.

As long as the nasty RROD nightmare haunts the 360.. MS will continue to refine and simply its architecture for reliability, lower manufactering costs and smaller form factor. Its in their best interest to do so as far as profit and customer satsifaction is involved. Its also gives a good jump start on their next console, the 720, to have all of the 360's major issues ironed out before launching that.

Its pretty amazing the 360 is still in 2nd place and ahead of the PS3 after so many years. I imagine if RROD had never occurred, and the 360s internals were more refined at launch.. the 360 would have a much larger installed base maybe even challenging the Wii. The main argument PS3 only enthusiasts have the 360 is that is unreliable & noisy.

Daekwan you bring up a good point. Now a days electronic drop in value as soon as it hits the shelfs. The 360 is an old system. I still have the orginial component cable 360's. Went in for RROD a year ago and it's been working ok now. Fingers crossed. If it craps out, most likely I'm going to buy another one. The PS3 has it's share of problems as well. The customer service of xbox is 10x better than the PS3. The games is what make the system worth it. Multiplayer makes it even more interesting. I'm not trying to system bash here but if Xbox comes out with a slim, people will buy it. Just like the MW2 stimulus map packs. They know about the problems, but yet they still buy it.

I'm looking at the picture and it looks as if the front USB are going up. side by side length wise.
Also even at $200 xbox is still the cheapest and easist way to play semi HD games. PC gaming rigs capable of playing newer games at close to 720p still cost more than $200-300 the xbox will cost. And it'a not nearly as easy.

If its as quiet & small as the PS3 slim.. I'll pick up a 360 slim for the bedroom. The media streaming capabilities are worth $200 alone. Throw in gaming and its a no brainer for $200. The main reason why I chose a PS3 slim in my bedroom instead of a 360 is.. you guessed it.. its quieter and wifi is included.. PERFECT!

I use my PS3 for the blu-ray, music storage and playback. 360 for gaming only. Yeah, the orginial 360 is really noisy. I sounds like a microwave. I just don't use both systems enough.

If a 360 slim comes out, most likey I will buy one.

To be fair, it is ahead by the amount it sold prior to the PS3 release. If you align the release dates they are pretty close.

But if you start playing with numbers you make just about anything possible, just ask the guys at enron.

I'm contasntly amazed how much the 360 bleeds to PS3 for the PS3 being such a better and easier to use media player.

Heck my parents have one, they don't have tradiontal highspeed where they live and connecting to live to download a codec everytime they want to watch something isn't an opition.

The part I'm amazed by is Microsoft not doing something aggresive to stop this sort of bleeding, surely it can't be that hard, windows, windows media center, and windows 7 make for awesome media players.

No matter how you compare it to go from 1st place to last place is quite a shocker.. Playstation was the console leader for 10 years, 2 console generations and sold records numbers of PS1 & PS2's that still have yet to be defeated.

The PS3 is great for all it does.. I use my PS3 (media only) way more than I do my 360 (gaming only). But its still absolutely amazing it hasnt sold as well as its predecessors. The PS3 paid the ultimate sacriface to win the HD disc war..

I feel like it's 2007 all over again.

If the PS3 is in "last" place, so is 360. The Wii and DS are killing.

The other internal SATA port doesn't necessarily mean an internal drive. It could be cheaper to just internally use a cable to connect to an external hard drive caddy than to put the connector directly on the board.

But, with the new news that a coming update will allow a USB drive up to 16GB for game saves, Games on Demand, and even installed discs, sounds like the memory unit connector is a goner.

i have to say, i couldn't see buying a ps3 for its media ability alone, but then i use my 360 as a media center extender...i have two atsc tuners in my computer upstairs and so the 360 does everything i need it to, plays live hdtv, plays my mkv's (via divx windows 7 tech preview), plays hulu (via playon), plays southpark (playon)

then i can pop in a disc and play games with my friends...

now i'm not saying that it didn't have any issues...but then i paid $6 for the console, bought the hdmi cable and PSU from ebay cheaply...i love fixing cheap 360's...

but it was loud...it is much quieter after fixing the cooling problem...i added a baffle in the heatsink shroud so that it splits the fans up, now one fan only cools the gpu and the other fan only cools the cpu...

you can tell a difference in the heat coming out of each fan, while playing a game the gpu is hot, while playing media center the cpu is hot...

i have to say i'm looking foward to where teh xbox 360 is going, and with newer game engines that allow even more detail, the 360 and ps3 are going to have good long lives and that means a cheap ass like me can enjoy it even more

Noise & No-wifi pretty much kills the 360 as a media streamer-only.

Unless of course you get one for $6 bucks and can fix the cooling.

Xbox Live & PSN gamertag- Daekwan

Noise isn't that big an issue with latest Jasper units (I have one Jasper Arcade in bedroom compared to my 1st batch of Elite). And if you do any type of HD streaming, wi-fi simply can't cut it. You need either cat5/6 cable or one of those Moca cabling. I use Moca and directly Cat5e for my two XBoxes and that's the only way for trouble free Live TV display.

As for why MS didn't pay more attention to fix those media playback issues, just remember this: MS makes money out of you whenever you buy and play games. It makes no money or even lose money (probably not any more or current hardware) if you simply buy it as a media player. I can't understand how Sony can sustain its business on PS3 like this if most ppl simply buy a PS3 for BD playback or media player. So far, XBox 360 still has the number one game attachment rate (purchased games per console) among all three consoles. That's the only thing matters in console business. Most ppl I know who bought the wii never bought more than one game and most simply no longer use the wii anymore.

The main argument PS3 only enthusiasts have the 360 is that is unreliable & noisy.

There are plenty of people (like me) who bought a 360 and decided that it did everything we needed it to. I'm not looking for a consolidated media system like the PS3 provides.

I owned all of the last generation boxes primarily to play the exclusives of each and I've owned 2 or the three this gen (360 & Wii.) There really isn't a reason for me to spend the $ on the PS3. The Wii isn't even in my house any longer...

The 360 does exactly what I need it to...

Salminella has become legend (or something like that):

I had a ps3 purely for BD, and you have to remeber every time a Blu Ray get's made, produced, and sold sony gets a cut. So while Sony may lose money right away on the PS3, I suspect it safe to say people that buy PS3's simply for BD are also the people who will start blu-ray collections.

Also I've streamed HD content from my WHS to router to wifi N to my netbook and had it play and look fine.
