Good luck, Kinect issues aside the core game is supposed to suck. Stand in your living room for three minutes, wait for a mech, kill it, load next mission. Some of the video review are pretty funny.

Now playing: Destiny Beta, Wolfenstein

The first co-op mission, Urban Warfare, is a lot of fun! You're on a city grid with 3 other VTs and you have to seek out and destroy some enemy antennas while handling troops, vehicles, mines, etc. And you have to do it within a certain amount of time.

I do wish the levels were longer though. Like the Urban Warfare level was a lot of fun but it ends after a few short minutes.

They ramp up the difficulty to keep the levels long by having you repeat it because it's quite easy to die. I don't think I've ever gone without dying once because the levels are so scripted. There are plenty of things you can't do until it's time to do it. But the difficulty, man, it's kind of like a Japanese platform game where you have to learn the level pattern and the enemy pattern in order to succeed.

Like on the level I'm on now, you have to go down a tight city corridor, flanked by tall city buildings so you know a lot of bad guys are lurking on fire escapes, rooftops, around corners, etc. with RPGs and machine guns. There's a guy around one corner at 3 o'clock and the first time you do the level, he'll start pummeling you with fire while you're distracted by the guys at 11 and 12 o'clock. So after you die, you know that when you get to that intersection, you have to immediately turn right to handle him before taking out the guys in front of you. And they give you such a limited supply of ammo in this level that if you weren't extremely efficient at the early parts of the level, you can't finish the level as it ends with some heavy vehicles attacking you. Some of the levels have variability in where the enemies are but other levels, they're exactly in the same locations so once you know where they are and have a plan of attack, when you die, you have a much better understanding of what to do.

here are some videos I made:
720P vid of mission 3 which is the first online co-op level. If you're wondering why I'm firing at the ground so much, there are tons of mines planted in the ground. The first time I played it, my VT got ripped to shreds. I was walking on one leg and the other half of the VT was dragging on the ground.

here's the first mission. A lot of people have seen the intro video which is from the trailer. Not many have seen the level finished though:
here's some more 720P vids I recorded:
mission 8. this is another co-op level and is crazy hard. armor on the rear flank of VTs are weak and a shot can take it down instantly whereas the front has heavy armor plating. blowing out legs also works great but is risky since if you miss, the time it takes to reload is long enough for them to hurt you.
mission 5. this mission was hard as well
mission 10
mission 12. this is one of my favorite levels.
this is one of the hardest levels in the game!
some good shooting in this one...

As part of a new dashboard feature that launched today in the US called ‘Kinect Central’ - the Xbox LIVE Arcade title ‘Haunt’ will be FREE for a limited time! This promotion runs in the US from Tuesday, June 26th through Monday, July 2nd and can only be accessed on the new ‘Kinect Central’ homepage on your dashboard. So head on over and get your free game.

Again, do not look for Haunt in the games marketplace as it'll be the normal 800 Microsoft points ($10). Look in the Kinect Central hub.

did anyone see this yet? it's wildly crazy for the average person. but for the person that makes some great money and wants to design a great home theater, it's pretty darn cool:

http://www.engadget.com/2012/07/10/winscape-virtual-window-makes-the-leap-to-kinect/#continued

Reminds me a lot of the Johnny Lee Wii head tracking demo where the camera angle and perspective changes based on the orientation of the person. There's zero reason why this is running on a Mac since it appears to be using FAAST and OpenNI. In fact, I think it'd be better if they use those new tiny fanless PCs based on Fusion or Atom. Or maybe the Apple TV device.

I was doing a random play of my library and hit this song (Freckles by Natasha Bedingfield). I remembered a conversation with a friend who hated freckles so I thought of her when this song popped up. A good time as ever to play with chroma key and Avatar Kinect. 720P video. This is dedicated to you, Miss Kissy! tongue.gif Using Avatar Kinect for the Xbox 360 to make the video and Adobe Premiere to put it all together.

What is the best way to extend The Kinect usb cable for, say 35 to 60 feet, please. Also, is a wireless solution possible/through two walls? http://support.xbox.com:80/en-US/kinect/setup-and-playspace/usb-extension-cables-and-hubs-kinect-sensor has me a bit hesitant to make a cat6 to usb termination and fail. The wired install would not be easy.

Thank you very much

there are multiple posts and threads about this question. in this thread. and any threads concerning projectors. check those out. some search terms include projector, usb, active extension, etc.

but the basic gist is a USB active extension cable.

don't forget! the basketball DLC is on sale for only 200 MS points for Kinect Sports season 2. I think the gem of the bunch is the alley-oop one.

I was checking the status of Xbox Live last night and saw this... it's active!

anyone out there have them? they look neat. I have no interest in them because I'm outside the target age... But I'm curious. And I'm wondering what is running on Xbox Live for those discs...

The Kinect Sesame Street game comes with a year of Sesame Street TV and it's only $30, the same price as SSTV by itself. I got it from the Microsoft store so I paid $30, got $20 in points, $10 off my next order, and a $30 SSTV subscription. I feel like an extreme couponer. biggrin.gif

I understand how to extend the Kinect cable over a longer distance to reach my stack. How has everyone been terminating the cable at the wall and mounting the sensor on the wall? I guess a usb wall plate would work but then theres several feet of usb cable between it and the sensor. Any ideas/pictures? Thanks.

Scored a free Kinect from my credit card points and have to say this thing is pretty fun. The more I use it the better it gets. The Kinect Adventures is a good start, kind of dig the after shots! Checked out a mess of demos. Kinect sports looked cool, as did Rise of Nightmares and Steel Battalion.

Ended up getting the Kinect Sports Ultimate. KS1 is ok, didn't mess around with much but liked the boxing. Seems very limited though. KS season 2 is way better. Was a bit disappointed in football that you only get offense and just watch the defense. Baseball and golf was fun. Its sad I'm so out of shape though...

Ordered Rise of Nightmares and Steel Battalion from Gamefly at $21 for the pair. RoN seems fun in a general slasher, mayhem kind of way. The demo won me over so I'm not sure why everyone was so down on it. SB:HA on the other hand, I can see why so many people hate it. The controls are off...but I want to give it a shot. Played the demo quite a few times and think it would be cool for $10.

Tried Tiger Woods 13...not so impressed. I think KS does golf better. Really wanting to try Madden 13, only get to call out vocally but think it would be cool.

Is there any decent golf, football, or boxing games that are somewhat realistic and not so arcade feeling?

if you want tips on the Kinect games, ask about them. I'm a huge Kinect fan and can probably help out on most of those games.

I'm surprised you preferred KS2 over KS1. The table tennis is fantastic. And being from California, I loved the volleyball. KS2 looks better, but it has less multiplayer than KS1. For KS2, I like the skiing and golf. The basketball DLC is fun but hard to find people to play it win.

if you're having problems with Steel Battalion, check these videos out. they might help:

gameplay videos for all the levels

I can't wait for boxing or fighting games with Kinect 2.0. And definitely the exercise games should work better with the new Kinect (which made it surprising that no exercise games are launching with the system unless you count Zumba Fitness).

KS1 just has games I'm not a big fan of. Bowling and boxing are about it. That said I haven't tried the rest. KS2 had a more immediate response. May not play much tonight...gads I'm sore from cutting grass and playing last night.

Saw you had videos up for steel battalion. Waiting on it to ship. Think I've decided to take my time with it and treat it like a new campaign each time rather than a chapter affair if that makes sense. See how long I can stay alive each session until I can beat the game.

The SB controls are very odd and nuanced but like you say in earlier threads, patience helps. The single biggest Kinect issue I have so far is figuring out where I'm at in my play space in relation to where I'm supposed to be in game. Especially in SB picking up and putting down the controller.
