I have a Samsung LN-T3253H lcd tv. I noticed by setting the DD in the 360 to disabled. And setting the HDMI color space to source. My PQ really jumped up on the gaming side of things. Did anyone else get the same results with their Samsung lcd tv?

New settings
720p
HDMI black level tv: Normal
HDMI black level 360: Expanded
HDMI Color Space: Source
Display Discovery disabled

Old settings
720p
HDMI black level tv: Normal
HDMI black level 360: Expanded
HDMI Color Space: Auto
Display Discovery Enabled

I should have added using HDMI in my OP. As for the version of the system. They are all the same.

Right around the time NXE rolled out, I remember catching a few posts on the boards here saying the expanded setting crushed black levels.
Long story short, recommended settings for HDMI were Rec 709 & standard.

Expanded or Standard only works in conjuction with the settings you have on your TV. Having it set to expanded means your TV's black level option must be set to standard, or if your 360 is Standard, the TV has to have HDMI level set to Low. There is no clear winner. Just make sure to calibrate your TV with whatever settings works for you.

No one TV is the same.

Ironically, I have owned 5 Samsungs (LCDs and LED-DLP) in the past 3 years and they all share a consistent optimal brightness setting. Brighness at 44, with the HDMI Level at Normal, and the 360 to expanded. I say this, because on my PS3 and other devices, Brightness at 44 also happens to be the optimal level with the settings I use, so it keeps my settings similar.

So what are the best settings to have the 360 look better?

There is no 100% purely correct setting, though setting color space to RGB or Source are the most ideal. Black level is purely dependent on what your TV's current settings are at.

I always thought display discovery was only to auto switch resolutions if you ever switch from a 720p to 1080p or vice versa. I turned it off and I switched my 360 to my smaller 720p set, and the 360 didn't switch from 1080p to 720p. In any case, I just leave it on.

Hmmm. My settings don't look bad. Just same games I play in my ps3 doesn't look as good on my 360. I'll post up pics of some gears game play. See what I mean.

The best settings are what look best to you on your set up. So unless someone else on here has the exact same setup as you, you likely won't know.

And then there's what is correctly the best setting and what you think is the best. For example I like my games a little on the brightside.

And then if you own a LCD and have a big playing area your going to run into viewing angle problems.

And finally different games are made for different colour/RGB settings.

Its a bloody nightmare. So grab a game you like, set it up to how you like it the most and forget about it. Well thats my advice anyways.

I own both LCD and plasma. I play dead center on both. IDK. I guess I have some tweaking to do.
