There's a new version of the ESPN app so redownload it to ensure that you have the new copy. Disclaimer: I don't know if the new version is being pushed out to the general public yet. I'm in the beta program.

Here's the new ESPN app in action:

alright, just got around to playing with it. it's much better in terms of functionality than the last ESPN app. but the ESPN team should still be slapped around. the interface is totally inconsistent to the metro interface. the kinect functionality is much better but some of it was trying to get the kinect to do controller type movements which doesn't make sense. like holding your hand over a button to scroll down??? they should just redo the interface for touch interactivity.

the first time I loaded the new app, it took forever and a day to launch. on subsequent launches, it was faster. but maybe the slowness is because it's beta and still being rolled out? who knows.

the IHeartRadio app is out!

Disclaimer: I don't know if the new version is being pushed out to the general public yet. I'm in the beta program.

also works great! very slick interface and very metro. netflix, you should be like this!!!!!

the kinect controls are great and has more functionality than with the Youtube app. You can save your favorite stations, sort by stations in your area, etc.

The installation process is just like Youtube or Netflix. You launch the app and get an activation code. Then you go to your web browser and URL. then you enter the activation code and your IHeartRadio account is tagged to your 360.

Negative on non-beta. I'm really looking forward to this, as I enjoy Clear Chanel's terrestrial stations in DFW.

probably. but what AVSer can't afford $1-5/month? and for what you get with XBL Gold, it's definitely worth it. the party chat alone is a godsend.

I remember seeing or reading somewhere it should be around early 2012.

Movies must be OAR, sports and movies must also have 5.1 audio, No EE or NO SALE!

I think that the "Coming Soon 1" batch are due to be out by the end of the month and the "Coming Soon 2" batch are supposed to gradually appear in early 2012.

EDIT: From MS' press release--Crackle, Dailymotion, iHeartRadio, MSNBC, TMZ, UFC on Xbox Live, Verizon FiOS TV, VEVO, VUDU and YouTube are listed as coming "later in December". CinemaNow, HBO GO, MLB TV and Xfinity On Demand arre listed as coming "early 2012".

Can you have the iHeart Radio app running in the background while you play games? I'd love to use that rather than streaming from my desktop while I play NHL 12.

unfortunately, no, as far as I can tell. if you want that, I guess you have to go ghetto and have your laptop or phone near you.

the iheartradio app is really slick though. besides being able to hear the stations I normally listen to in my area, I can go to any market I want. Clear Channel is a beast with so many radio stations in the country.

Unfortunately none of the streaming audio apps can be played in the background other than the old "Music Player" that you can get to through the guide (and it's not allowing me to play my Zune playlists recently; thankfully it will still play albums). Even the Zune player can't play in the background.

TMZ is up! so is MSN/MSNBC!

the TMZ app has the metro look but you can definitely tell it's TMZ's style (kind of gaudy).

But the MSN/MSNBC app looks beautiful. the colors are peaceful and it's just well put together. If the MSN and MSNBC websites could look this clean!

Logged in just now and Netflix had an update. Hopefully this corrects the black level issue. Watching Dora the Explorer with my little guy, and it looks better (placebo effect maybe?). I'll test it with Mad Men in a bit.

The black level issue doesn't seem like its Netflix specific. A fix will likely require a dashboard update.

I can't see any change in the Netflix app with this update except now if you try and launch the old app through quickplay it says to insert disc.

I saw an IGN video on YouTube. They did a review of the YouTube app and said it will be out today (the 13th).

Can anyone confirm?

Quick question I launched the new ESPN app and saw the score ticker and box scores on the right hand side of the app but I saw no NHL score......any ideas on this? I can't imagine that ESPN app wouldn't have NHL scores but I saw none and saw no way to add them.

Were you able to switch to specific sports besides the NHL? I thought I saw the NHL in the list, but I was mostly watching a game.

I think it is safe to assume that if Major Nelson or Microsoft have not put out a press release/tweet that every new app that comes up is only for the Preview members.

Hey guys, for those that blocked those ads, does this mean then that when you turn on the xbox all you get is a blank square? If so, I am wondering if it is worth it to have a big blank square or the ad. Do you notice the dashboard performance increasing any without those ads? Since it would not have to load them and some of them are live action in them. Just curious.

Hmm, I know i had to manually change the scores so they would switch to a different sport. By chance did you add the NHL to one of your My Sport's selections?
