Just a warning to those in the beta, you are not supposed to talk about the dash in forums or online boards. MS can ban you if you do. Read the beta TOS.

I'm sure many of the Xbox bought (after an undisclosed date) will be pre-loaded with the new dash.

How would that work? The holiday bundles are being sold now, and have likely been packaged months ahead. We'd be hearing about this by now, no?

Look for this in a future Dashboard update.

Microsoft picked up VideoSurf today with an eye of integrating their service into Xbox Live.

Here is the About information for VideoSurf.

Quote:

Using a unique combination of new computer vision and fast computation methods, VideoSurf has taught computers to “see” inside videos to find content in a fast, efficient, and scalable way. Basing its search on visual identification, rather than text only, VideoSurf’s computer vision video search engine provides more relevant results and a better experience to let users find and discover the videos they really want to watch.

With over 50 billion (and rapidly growing!) visual moments indexed from videos found across the web, VideoSurf allows consumers to visually navigate through their results to easily find the specific scenes, people or moments they most want to see. Users can now spend less time searching and more time being entertained!

Here is what Microsoft has to say.

Quote:

"VideoSurf's content analytics technology will enhance the search and discovery of entertainment content across our platform," said Alex Garden, director of Xbox LIVE for the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft. "This holiday we will launch voice search across our entertainment partners on Xbox LIVE. Over time, as we integrate VideoSurf's technology into our system, we are excited about the potential to have content tagged in real time to increase the speed and relevance of the search results." "Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Division is at the leading edge of connected entertainment," said Lior Delgo, CEO and co-founder of VideoSurf. "We are incredibly excited to be working together on our mutual passion for creating amazing consumer experiences and reinventing how consumers search, discover and enjoy content on their televisions."

http://www.cnbc.com/id/45401172/Micr..._for_Xbox_LIVE

Essentially this deal would seem to allow you to describe a scene, and VideoSurf will check all the video platform holders to show you the episode or movie.

I read those "jumpings" as reminders/warnings to the beta people that they could be banned from Xbox Live for breaking the legal contract of the NDA.

You seemed to read it as some pithy a-holes trying to tell people what to do.

i think the general details of the cloud storage have already been covered in a blog so it may or may not be a no-no to talk about it.

but cloud storage is separate from your gamertag.

your gamertag is in the cloud but is not taking up storage space. recover gamertag will forever be gone AFAIK. just log in. I think that's the extent that people can say since that part has been in the active media.

Talking details (like how big the storage is) is a no-no because those features are still up in the air.

I realize this may not be able to be answered until the dashboard rolls out, and perhaps at that point we'll be flooded with information from various websites, but is everyone's Gamertag going to be automatically moved to the cloud, or does this require one's consent and opt-in in some fashion? How do they effectively secure your Gamertag if you can login to it from any console? I can't imagine that less tech-savvy gamers are going to want to have to go to the Xbox.com website to manage their authorized consoles.

Does the privacy agreement expire today. I noticed Engaget posted their review at 12:01am. If so can you guys in the pilot tell us your impressions. (not that it makes much difference I guess since its mandatory but I am curious).

Your gamertag is already in the cloud right now.
What you're going to get with the new dashboard is the ability for your game saves to be in the cloud also.
