Maybe. It is subjective, but this gen I've played numerous open world games that were a heck of a lot better than GTAIV IMO. The game was just too stale and played it way to safe.

Here's hoping Rockstar found a way to impress again. RDR didn't even do it for me, even if I did appreciate the awesome mini-southwest sandbox they gave us. One can only do so many chase and clear the sub-map of enemies missions over and over. They really need to find ways to change up the missions and find new gameplay opportunities in the awesome worlds they build.

That's why I am looking forward to GTA V. The idea of doing side missions where I am getting the things I need for the really big heists in the games, and the meta-game of deciding which AI crew members I want to buy and how it can affect my mission sounds awesome.

Still going to be rendered at 720p or less and won't have the draw distance of newer systems, so I don't agree that it will look next-gen.

Just watched the new trailer on IGN. Really glad they showed actual gameplay and it is shaping up nicely! Hopefully the game will run well installed on a USB stick to reduce the load times. Would love to see this on next-gen hardware but it still looks pretty impressive and don't think I want to wait any longer to play this game than I have to. I have a feeling this game will tide me over nicely through the end of the year and until the new consoles launch smile.gif

I really can't wait for this game. It will be one of the determining factors on how long I wait for next gen consoles. I usually get lost in a GTA game for a least 3-4 months, and it may help me wait out the launch storm and see what everything looks like once the dust settles on the XB1/PS4.

Here's a direct 720P30 feed. Throw it on you 360 or media server and enjoy it on your HDTV!

http://www.gamersyde.com/download_grand_theft_auto_v_gameplay_trailer_1-30390_en.html

Still think well see next gen releases though. Nov 13 is about 2 month before the rumored launch dates of next gen. Plenty of time to announce and market the next gen versions! As for the vid, it does look noticeably more this gen than earlier bullshots/vids. Good to see it running in a this gen dev environment. Really, really hope this meta-game of planning crazy missions works out well. They need more of GTA4's bank robbery, utilizing all the uniqueness of the city and vehicles. A lot less clear the empty construction site, drive people A to B, chase that guy for the 25th time.

The GTA V Online reveal was today. I have to say, it looks pretty amazing.

I thought that it was interesting that they are referring to it as it's own game. People who purchase GTAV will have access to it a week after GTAV release, but they eventually envision it being a standalone title.

It does look awesome. I can see myself getting lost in the online component for a long time, especially with all my friends. This may be one of the main reasons why I hold off on next gen consoles.

The last GTA game I played was Vice City... damn, they have come a long way! Actually looks pretty fun and enough to do between campaign/missions/etc. and MP to keep me busy until xbone.

It's been getting tremendous reviews all around. Based on this, I just ordered my first 360 game of 2013, and will probably be my last.

btw, I just read a warning not to install the 360's "Play" disc. Maybe I should have ordered the PS3 version? rolleyes.gif

Grand Theft Auto V comes on two 8GB discs on Xbox 360; the first is a mandatory "install" disc, while the second is the "play" disc. While you'll have to install the former (as you might have guessed), the studio has warned against trying to do the same for the latter as it'll negatively impact how the game runs.

I'm guessing it's designed to read from both the install disc on the HDD and the play disc in the DVD drive at the same time, to boost overall read speed.

If you install the play disc, then it's reading both from the same HDD at the same time, forcing the drive head to constantly swing back and forth between the two images...that's definitely very bad news for performance.

It'll prob be fine if you install the play disc to a USB stick.

There are 2 discs. Install the one and don't install the second. It runs better that way. No big deal if you ask me. Maybe it pulls info from the HDD and disc at the same time?

It can be a big deal when you think of all the hours people will be putting into it in their old machines.

That sucks. I have an older 360, one where the drive sounds like a jet engine, and I always install my games just so it is not so noisy while playing.

My 360 Just has to make it through GTA V, lol. My disc drive has very little use since I Have ripped every game to the HDD. I do feel Sorry for those with noisy 360s.

Trust me, install the play disc to a USB stick. It doesn't perform as well as a HDD, but it can def outperform the DVD. It'll keep the disc from spinning without degrading performance.

That seems weird? what would cause that? Streaming the data from the hard drive should be much faster than streaming from a disc. A disc shouldn't come close to the speed of a hard drive.

I plan on installing it to the hard drive. I can't stand the loud noise when it reads from a disc.

I'm wondering if there is a digital download version of GTAV on the Xbox 360? If BestBuy screws me on my reward zone dollars I'm supposed to get for pre-ordering GTAV then I might just cancel it and order a digital download version if it is available.

It's streaming from both the HDD and DVD at the same time. Pretty clever way to increase transfer rate, it's the first 360 game that I know of that does this.

It's why I've always said next gen, unless you've got an SSD, the disc versions might be the ones to get when it comes to load times.

As bd2003 already mentioned installed to a USB drive is the best way to play this game on the 360.

Ok Thanks. I'll try that then.

So the first disc is installed to the hard drive and the second disc is installed to a USB flash drive?

Correct. Just make sure the USB drive can sustain at least 15MB/sec reads.

The IGN review that seems to be portraying GTA as some sort of high brow entertainment that provides a satirical commentary on contemporary America life was a laugh.

Anyone read a good review that focuses more on the gameplay, the technical side, how the two platforms match up, and so on instead of trying to make GTA out to be something it isn't?
