I just did the Grass Roots freaks mission. Hilarious.

And I stole my first plane. For a kid from the streets Franklin is one helluva pilot. I got a huge kick out of flying as high as I could and then jumping out with no chute.

I don't like this, if it's true. Hopefully it has no effect on game play. It would suck if people could spend real money to get benefits online.

Its all good...let some obsessive type spend $400 real-life cash on a car....

Then become a victim of Grand Theft Auto...poetic justice.

Major cash will only attract criminals in a game about criminals.....problem solved.

If it effects gameplay then I just lost all interest in GTA Online.

Is anyone having problems with a mission with the triathlon lady? I am doing a downhill bike ride with Trevor where you go by the Vinewood sign. The problem I am having is that when I finish the race and win she just stands there and the nothing happens in the game. If I lose and ride away it say mission failed because I lost, but when I win I cannot get it to continue. Anyone else having this type of issue?

edit: never mind, found it - http://gtaforums.com/topic/600287-glich-with-trevor-mary-ann-bike-mission/

Walk backwards and keep shooting. The gun won't overheat and has unlimited ammo. By walking backwards away from the starting point I was able to keep more space away from them to get past it.

If installing the main disc to USB flash, what read speeds are recommended for best performance?

I played online about 5 or so hours this morning. At first the servers where unavailable. There was only maybe a couple of others for awhile, so I just messed around (Running from cops) and stuff like that, but after a few hours lots of people where online and stuff just opened up to play (Game types/Jobs). I did a few races with peeps and some jobs. Got shoot and killed a bunch. Good times. I got up to level 7 before the servers went down. I just started playing single player this weekend and I love the game. I wasn't sure if I really would like playing online, but I was having a blast and see my self playing a bunch now.

Since you've played online, I have a question. How are the controls set? Is aim assist on or off and does the host have the ability to change it?

I didn't do any deathmatchs, so not sure on the options you can change for the match. I think aim assist was on just in general, but I wasn't auto locking on to people or anything like that. I only hosted a couple of jobs and there wasn't much I could change for them.

http://www.joystiq.com/2013/10/01/gta-5-players-report-glitches-save-file-issues-after-gta-online/

Rockstar Games rolled out its Grand Theft Auto Online update for Grand Theft Auto 5 earlier today, but you might want to back up your save file before diving in, as some users are reporting lost progress after installing a required patch.

A Joystiq tipster writes in with word that their single-player campaign save file was erased following patch installation, ending a playthrough at around 70 percent completion. NeoGAF and Rockstar Support users confirm similar glitches, reporting missing weapons, unresponsive character switching, and an inability to progress in story mode.

While many players have installed the update without issue, others report hard-lock freezes and character creation difficulties within the game's GTA Online component, and for some, the single-player mode is effectively unplayable. Rockstar has posted a list of known multiplayer issues, but has not yet commented on reported single-player glitches.

"The GTAV Title Update to enable Grand Theft Auto Online access has been rolling out this morning on PSN and Xbox LIVE across territories worldwide," Rockstar explained in a comment here. "As mentioned last week, you should expect that there will be some technical teething issues in the early days of a new online experience especially one as massive as GTA Online – you can stay apprised at the Rockstar Support site here. Thank you all for your patience, understanding and support!"

I thought I saw it under the online options, but never got a chance to try it out. Was going to try it with a friend but we kept on getting booted from online at bad times and gave up trying.

Yes, there is a private party setting. I read that you pause from the single player session and use the menus to change the settings for your online session.

I never could play last night. I spent a half an hour trying. Finally got the intro to load, then I couldn't start a race. Just sat there spinning forever.

Gave up and tried to play the bf4 beta and couldn't connect to a game. Went back to playing hockey.

Yeah, I got past the intro in a solo session, then even that crashed on me.

I never really expected it to work though, nothing ever does on day one. Hopefully it'll work by the weekend.

I tried today and kept getting a message saying the Rockstar cloud servers were down (or something to that effect). Hopefully they make some progress by tonight.

I tried last night three times between 9 and 11PM central and I couldn't get to the first race. On my first try, I saw the opening cinematic and got to the parking lot. I hung out there in a group of about 5 people with a guy entering and leaving every so often for about 15 minutes, then I started playing some single player. About an hour later, I made another attempt and again, I was in the parking lot and I walked into the circle, but then instead of standing with some other players I saw this short cinematic of a guy driving up to me and getting out of a sports car. That cinematic played twice, then the screen went blurry and it was looking for other players. I had this same experience an hour later when I tried for the third time. Why couldn't the race just be against NPCs if the lobby doesn't fill up quickly enough? Is that supposed to be what happens, but the mission is glitchy or the servers are overloaded? I really want to try it, and I hope they get this ironed out.

I DO NOT like the character creation. That is one of the worst character creators I've used in a while. I can't choose my build, height, or weight, and the system to determine your ethnicity and face is terrible. Also, why can't I just choose what stats I want to put points into? Instead I have to fool around with some more goofy sliders until I get the bars to where I like them. Then, I cannot choose my first outfit either. That last one may be picky, but I may not want to wear board shorts and a t-shirt or that three piece suit with sun glasses.

I finished the single player last night, and I loved it. This game was much more fun that GTA IV. I didn't feel like any of the missions were a big chore as I've felt in previous GTAs. There was some tedium at times, where you had to do the same thing multiple times or had to drive for way too long, but I never felt like I wished a mission wasn't in the game. Also, unlike previous GTAs there weren't huge difficulty spikes during some missions. Maybe that's due to the new health system or the special abilities. I never ran into a spot where I was just stumped.

I really enjoyed this game and I hope Rockstar gets the online situated. I have A LOT to complete still with the single player so I can wait.

This is what is so confusing to me about some of their design decisions. That first race you are trying to get into is just you racing agains lamar (an NPC). Why on earth it throws you into a screen waiting for other players confuses the hell out of me.

Just as a tip, I cleared my 360's cache and was able to jump right in. I had tried about 15 times before that. May be a coincidence, but it's worth a shot.

Patches going live today

http://www.polygon.com/2013/10/4/4802078/gta-online-patch-now-live-on-ps3-coming-to-xbox-360-as-soon-as
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
A title update for Grand Theft Auto Online is now live on PlayStation 3, with a patch for Xbox 360 slated to launch later today, Rockstar announced in a press statement.

The Xbox 360 update will be available "as soon as possible" sometime today, Rockstar said. The company also pointed to its dedicated support page listing all currently known problems and bugs with Grand Theft Auto Online and asked that players keep an eye on it for future updates. The last update hit at 5:30 p.m. ET yesterday, in which Rockstar announced it was working on the PS3 and Xbox 360 patches.

According to the statement, issues on PS3 stemmed from PlayStation Network server issues that were limiting the number of concurrent GTA Online users. This prevented most players from accessing the service altogether. Rockstar said these issues has been resolved with the update.

Both platforms are experience problems preventing some players from completing the first tutorial mission. Some have completed it after repeatedly retrying. Users have also experienced instability in content past the tutorial missions. Rockstar is currently working to fix these issues for all users.

Until GTA Online is stable, Rockstar has disabled the ability to purchase GTA cash packs. The company made the decision to cease the game's microtransactions on Wednesday. However, players can still earn money by completing Jobs and other activities within the open-world service.

"Thank you everyone for continuing to bear with us since Tuesday's initial roll out of Grand Theft Auto Online — we're aware that a variety of technical difficulties have made it difficult to get access and that the experience has been a bit less than smooth for many of you who jumped in straight away," reads the statement.

"All of these initial technical issues will be ironed out as soon as we can," Rockstar wrote. "Please know that the entire team here at Rockstar and all of our relevant partners are and will continue to be working around the clock to get the experience to be as smooth as possible, as soon as possible."

Grand Theft Auto Online launched on Tuesday to server issues, freezing and a handful of bugs that prevented many players from accessing the service. Rockstar has been working to solve these issues throughout the week.
