Figured I'd post an update about this. After weeks of dealing with MS support, they finally agreed to repair my Xbox for free. I really had to work for this though. Eventually, I was escalated to level 2 support and spoke to a guy who said that they did have some issues with the latest update and they would take care of me. I just got my repaired Xbox back and everything is working fine.

In addition, there is simply the odds that some hardware decided to fail on you at the same time as the update happened. Correlation does not imply causation, and all that.

I am guessing you are DJ and everyone here doesnt particularly care for you? Didnt seem like an A-hole comment to me, kind of the same thing I was thinking LoL, and the power cycling during update.

Good to hear Microsoft is going to replace it. Their customer service is a PITA but enough time and you will get something out of it.

I would have been pretty upset to buy a brand new xbox when the nextbox is right around the corner (Depending on what you believe)

I'll keep this thread updated with info on how MS handles this. I guess there's a small chance that the whole thing was a coincidence, but the timing is just crazy. The xbox literally crapped the bed minutes after installing the update. Has anyone (non RROD) ever had their Xbox fixed by MS for free this far out of warranty?

microsoft should pay for new sheets, too.

things I've learned here:
"the sound of a power cord" is BS.
turn your center speaker 90 degrees.
avoid women who require WAF in a HT.
