When I turn on my system I am asked to select a profile. When i do, I am signed into that profile and automatically signed into XBOX Live. What do i have to do for that not to happen? I don't want to automatically be signed on for various reasons, the main one being that my modem and router are old and sometimes, albeit rarely, having a device connect to the internet boots another device off. This happened to me today during a download on my PC.

If you just want to not automatically login to your Gamertag, then go to Settings, Profile, Sign-in Preferences and set it to off.

But if your Gamertag is already configured with Live, there is no way to set it not to auto login to Live everytime you login to your Gamertag. Only way I know to get around this is unplug your X360 from the Ethernet cable. If it connected wireless, then you have remove the network configuration which isn't practical to do everytime.

Microsoft loves you to be connected to Live even you don't want.

With the new dashboard you can also set it to require a password each time before it logs in.

Hmm, that sucks. Is there a way to sign out of live and remain signed into your gamertag?

Wait, tell me if this would work. I think it should. If i go Account Management, then Your information and the Password Sign In and select "Require password here" would that work? It would be annoying having to put in a password every-time, but that should do the trick, shouldn't it?

Hit the B button. You go to the Home page without being signed in...
