More people are using Xbox to watch stuff than to play stuff...

http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2...-xbox-live.ars

This is something Microsoft was driving for for a long time. You can bet that NexBox will be even more entertainment friendly.

Strange thing to brag about. If Sony came out and bragged about people watching Netflix and BD you would hear all kinds of jokes. Next gen all these apps will be in every set top box, TV and console, so don't lean on them to sell a $400 console. They should probably start thinking about games again, those things that people bought a 360 for a couple of years back.

Now playing: Madden, Diablo 3, First Light, PvZ: GW
Recently Finished: Watch Dogs
PSN & XBL: Scuzzlebutt33

That's true, because Xbox didn't need to be a great BluRay player to be sold. If Sony was promoting something like this, it would be because their gaming is not doing so hot. Xbox is doing fine in games, but it is expanding rapidly into other areas.

And who said NexBox is going to be $400?

I think the writer nailed it: Apple will tout all it's copied features in commercials that sound like they're only available with apple, despite already being available for a while on non-apple.

that's what pisses me off the most about those annoying iPhone commercials. Same approach talking about stuff I've been doing on my droid for 2 years.

The problem with the Xbox is the hoops you have to jump through. Everything is behind multiple layers of subscriptions. To watch Netflix, I need XBL gold and netflix sub. To watch Hulu, I need gold + Hulu plus sub. I need ISP support + gold to watch ESPN. For HBO, I need HBO sub, cable sub and XBL gold. Or pay a la carte for *some* shows with MS points. (Never in a million years will I consider this) It's so walled up it just seems kinda silly to me.

The "winner" will be the one that makes finding and watching what you want to watch as hassle free as possible. That certainly doesn't describe apple ATM....but I don't think MS is doing a particularly good job replacing cable either. And until it can do that, none of these streamers really seem all that great to me.

Xbox needs to fix the problem of streamed 1080 videos being played back at 720. This has been a problem since that last major update.

Movies must be OAR, sports and movies must also have 5.1 audio, No EE or NO SALE!

I am not really sure they consider that an issue, and most people would not be able to tell the difference between the two anyway.

It used to work before the update. So what your saying is...it's ok now that it no longer works because some people can't see the difference?

That's false advertising.

When I pull up a Youtube video that's 1080p (such as a movie trailer or any other 1080p video) I expect it to play back at 1080p, not 720p.

Xbox is advertised to play 1080p videos.

Microsoft needs to fix that problem.

Some things have been fixed such as the black levels (however only with some of the apps.)

I'll continue to use my $100 Pany BD210 for nf, amazon VOD, Vudu, etc. I have zero interest in using the 360 for things my BD player and TV can do better with a more convenient remote and interface. If I could pay less for a xbox that was stripped of these other apps and features I'd do it in a heartbeat.
