No, no, you should definitely make me feel bad. Coming at it from the completely wrong perspective. Now I'm better. Still though... I am an idiot.

I'm up to 60 7/8 on my New Game +, and I take it back, two of the anti-cubes are just like waiting on that cloud.

I'm now loving this game. Looking back at my reaction posts, it's starting to look like Fez screws with you deliberately. Getting your fez is just the beginning of how it effs with you.

I've now got two artifacts and a good handful of anti-cubes (and most of the regular cubes, natch). Still doing fine without a guide/faq, but I'm not sure how far my stubbornness will take me. Some of this stuff makes me feel smart in a way that Braid or Portal never did.

Ok, I don't care how clever a developer thinks it is to make the player wait what looks to be maybe a week to solve something, it's not.

Seriously, as much as I like the game, screw this gray clock.

There's a much easier solution to that, you know.

The final puzzle was solved by the community in the most anti-climactic way possible - they teamed up to brute force it.

For future players, it'd be really cool if someone put together a hint guide. Not a solution guide, but something to nudge you in the right direction if you hit a wall. It's frankly something that should have been built into the game. Everyone will inevitably hit a wall, and all you really find on the Internet are answers and solutions that spoil the fun of figuring it out yourself. If just a few modern design considerations were made, this could have been an incredible experience for everyone. Instead, you've probably got a large number, possibly majority of people who never really get what the game is about. Another huge portion who were assisted in great measure by outside sources. I'd wager very, very few people actually got a pure experience. And now that the cat is out of the bag on the final puzzle, the community coming together aspect is dead and irrelevant.

Yeah, if I had found the room in the second video faster, I think I'd have been able to figure that whole thing out on my own without any hints.

Looks like these are good for anyone not wanting to find out the whole answer for each major puzzle though.

I've (kind of) changed my mind again. I really love some aspects of this game, and I respect the challenge. Other recent indie puzzle games have been too easy, so I like that someone is willing to make us work a little harder.

Unfortunately, I think some of these puzzles cheat. For example, with the counting system:

I kept banging my head against a wall trying to figure out how there could be 15 different numbers. The first four (plus zero) were easy. The rest, not so much. I tried calculating it based on a modified base-5 system. I thought for a while that some numbers might not actually be additional numbers, but simply the same numbers at different angles. And so on. I spent hours going from place to place with different numbers, collected every item I could. And still there weren't enough clues.

Eventually, I caved and did something I never do: I checked online. Needless to say, I I think it's cheap that certain numbers can be written in multiple ways. That's the worst kind of answer to a puzzle. To me, that's simply a bad puzzle. Not because I couldn't figure it out, but because there were multiple answers. Stupid.

I managed to figure out the tetris shape code (just a matter of finding the right room), but I'm not even going to assume that figuring out the language code is easy. And since they cheated on the number system, I'm going to assume they also cheated on the alphabet.

The numbering system follows a very simple logic...there are multiple ways to represent some numbers, but it's not arbitrary.

Never said it was arbitrary, just unfair.

Well, regardless, there's not really the sort of thing you describe in the alphabet anyway.

There's two uncommon letters that share the same thing, but that's it.

That being said, I'm not sure I'd describe the numbering thing as unfair because there is a classroom that shows that there are multiple ways to do the same number.

Well, you were kinda over thinking it. But you have zero guidance as to how hard any given puzzle is, so that's to be expected.

The alphabet is pretty straightforward. A cryptographer could probably decode it on its own, but there is a rosetta stone of sorts out there.

Not really.

It gives you the first four values (0-3), and the maps give you the fifth (4). But there's no indication anywhere that one of those is a multiple. And nothing in that classroom gives you any suggestion what's going on. You might be able to extrapolate a few more from some of the directional code puzzles, but definitely not just using the numbers in that classroom on its own.

If you were able to figure that out on your own, great. But I'm skeptical.

The numbers I did get on my own, letters I did not.

As for the room demonstrating that two symbols were the same number (just quickly pulled from one of the hint videos linked above):

But, again, that hits yet another snag since even the "equals" sign doubles as a number in the system. I can respect that you were able to make sense of this, but I don't respect the designer for his messy logic.
