I set up my X360 as a Windows Media Extender.
I can't seem to find an inexpensive RF remote (i.e. that doesn't need line of sight as the X360 is in an adjacent room)?
Any suggestions?

X360 uses IR based remote. So, yes line of sight is required. There are two types of remotes made for X360, older one that used to be bundled with HD DVD drive and Windows Media Center remote that usually comes with Windows Media Center optimized PC. My HP laptop came out two WMC remotes, one is tiny credit card size and other full sized. You do need to enable in X360 configuration to appear both types of remotes. If none of your IR remotes are compatible with your X360, check Gamestop. I remember they sell WMC remotes in the past.

Both X360 and WMC remotes lacked some DVD movies functions such as no button for subtitle, audio track, etc. You have to go to the pop-up menu to control them. I think Sony did a better job with PS3 remote because it has buttons for every function in the movie including some that are rarely supported in movies. Since PS3 remote is using Bluetooth, line of sight is not required. I can control my PS3 from outside the house. PS3 remote is also registered to one PS3 console at a time. This can be good or bad depending if you want to share your remote control among multiple PS3 consoles. If most of how PS3 remote works are important to you, maybe you consider getting a PS3 as your movie player. PS3 has the ability to like Media Extender but I don't use it much. Maybe someone else can help answer this part.

I think he's looking for a Media Center remote that works with the 360's wireless tech. I haven't come across such a beast. He's stuck with the limited functions of the controller, or being tied to line of sight with IR.
