X-Com: Enemy Unknown

Looks fantastic, including pretty much all the elements of the original. To me, this is worlds better than that bland FPS they're also coming out with:

I'm excited for this. But the Civ Revolution styling is a turn off for me.

I don't think it looks that much like Civ-Rev. I'm not big on how much they've simplified it though - managing one base isn't too bad, but would certainly like a squad larger than 6. However, this does give them room to grow if there's ever a sequel.

I have been waiting over 10 years for a QUALITY offering in the XCOM series, and this looks like it is going to be everything I have been Praying for. This may be my first dual purchase of a game, EVER! I have a love affair with it on PC, so top priority is securing it for the PC, but the XBOX version of is not a slouch whatsoever! CAN'T WAIT!

The actual footage that showed up last week sealed the deal for me. The Orginal was one of my all-time faves (probably only bested by MULE).

Can't wait-- preordered it already.

I agree. I will probably get a copy for my PC first, but I think I will get an Xbox version as well. The original was my favorite!!!biggrin.gif

That email from Amazon saying it's shipped is just sitting there in my Inbox, taunting me.

There are few quality turn based strategy games out there. I'm so glad this is getting solid reviews.

Didn't get to play for very long, but liked what I've seen so far. Demo is also up on Live.

The demo is just a little taste, basically two tutorial missions. Probably could have used one more because it barely scratches the surface. Seems like a great strategy game though, very tempted to pick it up.

I quite enjoyed the demo. But I can tell the decision making at the strategic level is going to give me an anxiety attack. I could barely choose where to build my base.

Loving it, the mission objectives really add a new feel to missions - not the same old bughunt missions ad infinitum.

Only having one base isn't really too limiting compared to the originals - you can launch satellites and station interceptors throughout the globe.

Hi Everybody. I'm Mark and I have a problem. I am an X-Com-aholic.

Seriously folks. I love, love, love these games, and this new one is uber-cool. The original X-Com's are probably the most awesomely-infuriating PC game series I've ever played. In fact, I think its the only game I've ever thrown my keyboard in rage before because some BS little ninja alien takes out my surviving squadmates in the last moments of a long, challenging level and I have to start over again.

Man, I'm having trouble getting my Snipers to level up. Word on the street is that once Snipers become high level, they own, but they are currently not carrying their own weight early game. Still no Sniper casualty. "Vasily Zaytsev II" is still ticking and once he unlocks the uber-awesome 'Opportunist' ability, the aliens are gonna feel the burn!!!!

My fav class so far is my Canadian support. Saved my squadmates bacon more than once with smoke nades and medpacks. He is actually taking out some Aliens to boot, and is currently my highest level soldier.

Heavy is the most fun however. Nothing like saving your rocket for the last poor sectoid and blowing his nuts off with it, cover and all.

I'm having the most trouble keeping my Assaults alive. Admittedly, I'm new and I suck, but man the aliens zero in on them every time even when advancing slowly. Guess, I'll live and learn, but shoving shotguns up alien asses is jolly good fun and worth the effort.

Great, great, great game. Firaxis don't ever change! You're the Rockstar Games of the serious strategy game world!!!!

Is it as difficult as I've heard? I'm down for a challenge but seeing how you can actually lose the single player...that might be somewhat of a turnoff.

There are 4 difficulties. Easy, Normal, Classic (based on the original difficulty, pretty dang hard), and Impossible. For those that want even more of a challenge, they can do those on a hardcore setting with autosaves.

I'm going through it on Normal first.
