Gameplay seems decent, the menus are complete and utter ****. Have the developers ever played a multiplayer game before designing one??

I played probably half of the story last night. One thing that bugs me about a lot of shooters, and this one was horrible with it, is why give me AI squad mates is they aren't going to kill anything. Not only that, but it seems like the enemies don't even know they are there and only want to shoot at me. If I am going to be lone wolfing it in the campaign, then please don't give me squad mates.

That is annoying and a bit worse on this game. The scripted squad movements are a little annoying at times as well. Single player campaigns are becoming a complete afterthought though for pretty much every franchise. The multiplayer has become the golden target.

I would say every franchise except Halo. Reach had a great campaign, and what I have seen on 4 looks pretty good too. I think that the military shooters are just so alike in their story telling that it has really just been over done.

How many anti terror movies and games have there been recently? Its just saturated over all. Halo is kind of off on its own. BF, COD, MOH, etc are all war shooters. Halo is space. I know its all FPS but I dont think of Halo in the same light. Crysis or Killzone would be a better match.

The impression I'm getting from the hour I played and the reviews is that they basically tried to bring books like "no easy day" (the bin laden raid) and "american sniper" to life. It didnt seem very bro to me at all. Its a solid concept to work with, it's too bad they didn't let it cook for another few months so they could do it right.

I see that for single player. I just dont think they had a chance. If the date slid everyone would have balked and said its junk. They did a beta and patched a bunch of things and still got slammed for it

From some research I guess MOH 2010 barely sold over the limit to do a sequel. So this one almost didn't happen. Looks like BF got the major dollars and MOH was kept short but on a deadline. Its too bad EA didn't pony up more dough and staff. That or Danger Close isn't good at managing resources.

The SP on this isn't the best but its the single biggest knock on the game. Reviewers seem to gloss over the multi. MW3 had what I thought was unacceptablely crappy AI and a flat to the point of boring campaign, but 9.5 it is with little regard to the campaign.

I dont see how the reviewers dont have fun in some fashion playing this game. I kind of think they want it done and gone because their review copy of Halo or BLOPS is on the way or there. Maybe this game is pure garbage like they say and I'm delusional but it's a fun delusion!

Finished the campaign. It all does come together in the end. The whole thing reminded me of Act of Valor. Overall the story was really good. Wasn't WW3 getting stopped by a few people. Just a day in the life kind of.

This game would be a good platform for what I'd describe as TV show campaign DLC. 4 or 5 hour based on real life operations.

If I had to change the campaign any I'd have played the warfighter angle more. Like making missions more about the other soldier groups like a Canadian op or GROM op and not all Voodoo and Preacher.

Campaign could use some polish but most people ignore those anyway and go right into multi.

Battlelog explains platoon reputation.

"Reputation is the score accumulated while being a member of the platoon."

THIS! It just baffles me. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if the Big Boys on the Block (rhymes with Mall of Booty) paid review sites to pan this game. Actually, I'd be surprised if they didn't.

no one paid me anything, but the beta sucked, this game is nowhere near other FPS... i mean this game is not even in the same ballpark as BF3

No one's arguing that it's not as good as the "big guys", just that it's not so bad that it warrants such crappy reviews.

Especially when it's criticized for being "the same old thing" when CoD has been exactly that for several iterations, and still garnering 9's. That's all we're saying.

I'm with you on MoH not deserving 5s from what I've played, but CoD earns that 9 every year. Even if its similar every year, for its particular style of FPS, it's still the class leader. No one is even close. Critics can't help but recognize that.

Generally critics are looking for either a great concept or great execution. If the concept is overdone, and the execution isn't great, I can see where the poor scores are coming from....but I still feel like they're venting onto MoH an extra bit of frustration with the stagnation of the genre in general. I mean, it's basically on par with duke nukem forever on metacritic, which was just a horrible game. Even homefront is 20 points higher. That's ridiculous.

I've thought about these reviews for awhile obviously and I think I'm starting to get it, dont agree but it is what it is.

When BF3 came out it had a new engine and new Battlelog. MOH used the same two things and didn't have to do more than add content but failed with all the issues that reviewers point out.

Didn't read it all yet but here is an actual level headed review:

That's the best and most honost review I've seen yet.

Multi takes a bit to get used to. This is a lot slower paced and more methodical than other shooters but yet more intense. Have to get used to the firing mechanics since bullet drop and reload are a bit more than you see in other titles. Plus when you first start multi there's a 1000 different pieces of info coming at you and its a bit overwhelming overall. After a couple hours it starts coming together. Just that initial flood of wtf is going on?

Got my Apache up! I think you have the option to pilot or gun (left vs right action) I wasn't so excited this time and actually paid attention to the choices.

Hmm...58 MB title update + 400 MB patch = no DLC. Evidently have to grab it seperatly. New menus look good, though I didn't mind the old ones.

OK, so bottom line:

Should I get it or not? I love shooters, particularly first person military shooters. I don't care much about the MP aspect. I loved 2010's MOH. If it's as good, then I'm getting it. Is it?

I didn't enjoy BF3's single player experience all that much. Sure, cool locations every now and then, nice automatic and high caliber toys to play around with, but not really a full-blown experience like the COD games.

Sooo... to buy or not to buy...zaat ...eez zee question..

SP was OK, pre patch was kind of buggy in places not sure now. MP is where its at but if that's not your thing I'd wait till its cheap or rent it.
