I'm so confused....
My kid has played with a local profile on the XBOX for years now, but we felt he was now old enough (and has enough friends that play) that we got him a Live subscription for his birthday. So I had an existing Windows Live ID I wanted to use. I went through the hassle of setting it up for him and everything, which apparently I had to do on a pc/web browser for the whole "parental consent" thing due to his age. So I got it all set up, put in the Live Code from the card we bought for the 12 month subscription and then another code for 1600 points for him.
So now I seem to have a Live Account set up for him, but I can't figure out how to associate the local profile on the XBOX with the Live Account. When I try to "join XBOX Live" from his profile, it tells me the email address is already associated with a different Live profile.
Did I mess up something by setting it up on a PC rather than the XBOX? The XBOX was giving me issues because of his age and having to set up a parental account separately, so I just did it on the PC since I can't stand having to type in thing on the XBOX "keyboard."
I can't seem to find any settings anywhere to associate the local profile with a Live ID, and I doubt he wants to lose his gamerscore. So what should I do now? I'm beginning to think I should have just lied about his age and bypassed the whole parental account thing. It's a huge pain in the ass.
EDIT: Did some more online reading, and I guess I apparently did screw up by not doing it from the XBOX so now I have two accounts and no way to merge them
Is that right? Looks like I'll have to recover the Live gamertag and he'll lose his gamerpoints. He'll be thrilled.
