Not a DLC. An Arcade game. I've read May 1st is the release date. Looks interesting, as long as the cost isn't to high I'll purchase it. If not I will wait for a sale.

"Here's to hoping this goes on sale soon, I can't wait to give it a shot!"

Because fifteen whole dollars is just too much to spend on a vidya game!

I meant sale as in "the act of selling", not sale as in "reduced price". smile.gif My grammar threw you, since I said "on" instead of "for".

My hope was it'd be available at midnight PST. It's for sale (you can purchase it) now! Looking forward to hopefully giving it a shot tonight.

Ah, makes sense. Sorry for unjustly ribbing you on this one. smile.gif

I just started up Witcher 2, but Blood Dragon is next in the queue. It looks like ridiculous fun, which is a nice break from the super-serious games that are so common now.

No problem on the ribbing. I'll just get you back in the future, they say revenge is a dish best served cold, right? wink.gif

I totally agree, Blood Dragon looks totally ridiculous - which is awesome! I'm enjoying Max Payne 3, but it'll be fun to jump into a neon lit laser driven game!!!

It's out for Xbox also. Picked it up yesterday. It's fun, but I find the dialogue hilarious. It's a nice change of pace.

From all the game play I have seen, it literally looks like they just changed the color palette on everything, added a retro 80s look to stuff, and called it a new game, keeping all of the Far Cry 3 gameplay mechanics. Is there anything new they implemented, or is it basically Far Cry 3 with a funny 80s vibe?

An accurate statement. But it does have a lot more action since its not a free roam. So far what I played has been fun and I am not upset about the purchase. We will see when I am done and how long it took.

Almost everything is basically rebadged, but to such a level that it does feel like a fresh game. I've only played a few missions, but this might help out.

Graphics - totally revised color palette with a neon/Tron feeling.
Buildings - new structures unlike ones in FC3, so you're talking new skins, new builds, etc.
Vehicles - reskinned vehicles with same elements. ie - jeep is the same body, with a gun on the back, but reskinned with different guns
Character models - same base character models and styles (heavies, etc.) with same animations. Totally reskinned to look completely different than characters in FC3
Weapons - all new weapons, with all new equipping/reloading animations
Audio - all new sound track, new audio cues, new voices
Controls - same
Movement/ladders/ziplines - same (reskinned)
Combat/stealth/take downs - same animations and style

They did a great job at changing a few things that again make it feel markedly different than FC3. Leveling and skills are different than FC3, so you don't have the tree system. You don't have binoculars, instead you have your cyber-eye (which is awesome) which allows you to tag enemies.

So far this feels like an amazingly mod (if this was a PC game) that was really well thought out and executed. The voices and lines are ridiculous (and wonderful), as are the cut scenes. Even the menu screen was overhauled and looks very 80's. Phil LaMarr absolutely RULES as "Spider". His quotes are fantastic and get me chuckling.

I have to say that Blood Dragon is pretty awesome. It actually is free roam once you get into it. Much like Far Cry 3, there are outposts to liberate, side quests to do and collectibles to find. On a smaller scale, mind you.

I've been seeing you online a few nights now playing Blood Dragon. I'm still not that deep into it, but am really enjoying it. Having two little ones keeps me from gaming as much as I'd like to!

I've noticed that the animals seem more aggressive than FC3. Not sure if this is just me or they upped it a bit for the game. No complaint, but it seems that animals come after me more than in FC3, and quite often I see them attacking enemies (and taking them down!).

Yeah, the animals do tend to attack you more in Blood Dragon, but I'd usually just run past them. I've actually beat the game, found all the collectibles and reached maximum level and I still want more.

Speaking of seeing each other online, did you ever finish the co-op stuff in Far Cry 3? I played it with a friend who insisted on playing on the hardest difficulty. I never made it past the second mission as we kept dying.

I'm still very early in the game, but am loving it so far.

I never did finish the co-op, ran the first mission (Here we come), but that's as far as we got and haven't been able to connect since. Happy to go through the rest of them with you. I've got to preface by saying that with my kids I sometimes have to jump off in the middle of a game without much warning!

Sounds good! Saw you online last night, but our wee one (one month old) was having a rough time sleeping so I was off and on and didn't reach out to you. Shoot me a message anytime, I'll respond with a thumbs up/thumbs down! smile.gif

I checked out the demo for Blood Dragon, and while it was funny something just didn't click for me. I loved Far Cry 3, so I have no idea why I didn't care for this game. I am going to just pass on it.

It was fun and worth the $15. I'd love to see more big-budget games do more experimenting with their assets like this. Too many feel beholden to the worlds they've created. This was more like a really polished fan-created mod. Worth buying just to support the effort.
