Haven't seen a thread for this game, comes out Dec 4th. I am very excited about it. It seems they took a lot of feedback from forums about Far Cry 2 and mitigated those issues (re-spawning enemy camps, malaria, gun deterioration.....). All the videos I have seen look incredible. Here is a rather long video but very informative:

Here is a gameplay video as well:

Ubisoft has made three episodes called the Far Cry experience, with the main antagonist in Far Cry 3, Vaas, being invloved and Mclovin:

I was rather hesitant to watch at first, but they are pretty well made and entertaining. Episode 4 comes out next week I think.

Just watched the multiplayer trailer and I'm sold! Was just going to be a rental but now will most likely be a day 1 purchase. Love the idea of deciding the fate of the losing teams best player smile.gif

Good to hear lordxar, glad to know I am not the only one on the hype train. I have been PUMPED for this game for a while..... It comes out December 4th and the review embargo was lifted today (game went gold about a week ago):

http://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-360/far-cry-3

Nothing below 90 so far, IGN also gave it a 90: http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/11/21/far-cry-3-review.

Multiplayer trailer:

Not sure if you all know, but this game also comes with a multiplayer map editor...... that could be LOTS of FUN......also has 4-player co-op that includes a whole separate storyline from the main story:

Also, here is the latest featurette trailer for singleplayer:

Anyways hope to see some of you Battlefield buddies on, it is a day one purchase for me

10 out of 10 from Eurogamer!@!!@!@! Isn't that site typically pretty harsh?

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-11-21-far-cry-3-review

Anyways, I will stop, I swear I don't work for Ubisoft.

Oh one more thing, here is a video showing off the xbox map editor, the video really gets interesting around minute 12 and 13...... so many possibilities:

Map editor on console would be awesome. I suck at map making but just having that ability on consoles means a lot longer multiplayer lifecycle.

The only question for me is whether to buy it for myself so I can start playing right away or ask for it as a Christmas gift. But this game is perhaps my most anticipated of the year, even more so than Black Ops II. Both the single player and multiplayer look great to me.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

May just Gamefly it. Campaign is getting great reviews but multiplayer and coop getting horrible reviews. Games not even out and it made Gamespies list of great single player with crappy multi though I did think some of their list was off.

Multi wasn't a big deal in FC2 either. I wouldn't worry about it. Just a typical tacked-on extra.

With a potentially very lengthy singleplayer campaign (30-40hrs), renting is just as expensive as a purchase.

maybe on the 360, but on pc fc2's mp map creation scene was huge and some awesome stuff was made.

Maybe...Id buy it for multi day one but can wait on single player till GF has it cheap. The map maker part had me intrigued but if its so so multi I can wait. Just got Max Payne 3, Crysis 2 on the way and BF3 maps next week so another big SP can wait for me.

I'm glad this is getting great reviews. I loved the original far cry, but I couldn't get into FC2. There was too much travel time, and no real checkpoints. You'd die with no warning and had to cover all this ground again...ugh.

I'm sure FC2 was a great game underneath that all, but I don't really have the time or patience for that anymore. Does FC3 handle it better? Checkpoints, fast travel, etc?

From everything I have read and seen in videos, the Ubisoft Montreal team took a lot of advice from fan feedback from Far Cry 2. Far Cry 3 no longer has the following:

Malaria
Jamming and deteriorating guns
Re-spawning enemy camps

There are about 40 enemy camps in Far Cry 3 spread over two main islands, once you take over one of those camps, it is yours to keep and it opens up some side missions and a gun store. You can also fast travel between enemy camps. Below are a few good reviews:

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-11-21-far-cry-3-review

Also, the Ubisoft released a "Reveal Trailer" a few days ago that is 10-minutes long and goes over a lot of SP and MP components, without any spoilers:

Looks to me like all the good ideas from the Assassin's Creed series went into Far Cry 3 instead of into Assassin's Creed 3. wink.gif

Very different games. The first Far Cry is more like a prequel to the Crysis games (all by Crytek). In contrast, Far Cry 2 and Far Cry 3 are made by an Ubi Montreal studio and have more in common with open-world games like GTA, Assassin's Creed, and whatnot.

I'm going to second your comments - game is incredible. Really suprised there isn't more talk about it.

I have it on PC and it looks gorgeous - great setting, ton of wildlife, lot of random events, and so far there seems to be a lot to do. The wildlife really is amazing and hunting actually adds value to the game unlike RDR. Hate to call it Skyrim with guns, but I can't really think of anything else to compare it to.

Had my first great "encounter" with wildlife last night.

I entered a new, unexplored area. Came across loud gunfire. I crouched low over a grassy hill and approached what I expected to be a firefight between two rival groups of people. Instead, I saw a jeep pulled to the side of the road with one man shooting toward the ground.

"Hmm," I thought. "He must have shot some dinner for himself. Deer, perhaps?"

I kill the guy, and go take a look. As I suspected, a dead deer. I loot the guy's body and go to "harvest" the deer. That's when the leopard attacks. I fend him off from his initial leap. But to no avail. I die.

It wasn't the deer the guy was shooting at.

I love this game.

Played another ridiculously long session last night............. I absolutely love climbing the radio towers, very well done first person platforming.

A few tips:

Don't buy any guns, just unlock radio towers, you will eventually get all the guns for free this way
Recurve Bow is BOSS
Flamethrower is great for taking out packs of fast animals (i.e. deer)

Come on AVSers, get this game, it is truly amazing.

The MP is also pretty fun...

Anyone done the mission "Kick the Hornets Nest"? WOW, so much fun....

I finally got around to playing. Played for about an hour and I was amazed. The opening scene sucked me in. I recorded it and sent it to a buddy and 30 minutes later he sends me a picture of the game. I told him it would make him purchase it. I didnt make it very far but I plan on playing a lot this weekend. Not sure if I will be playing the multiplayer aspect of it but who knows.

I assume you got this on 360? I am pretty sure I have you on my friends list from the BF3 thread. Maybe we can knock out co-op one of these days. The MP is fun, a nice change of pace from BF3.

Unless you enjoy traveling around an island with no enemies, do not take over every enemy base, leave a few on each island to keep it interesting.

Yes I do have it for the 360 and yes I am on your friends list. I would be down for some co-op. I guess that means I have to use my code.

When you take a photo in-game, is there somewhere it's stored where you can see it?

Just did "Kick the Hornet's Nest" last night, and yeah, it is crazy fun. The game is incredible. Top ten all-time for me, and rising.

I love it.

Might pick this up for xmas time off. Only if the MP is good though. Already am busy with BLOPS2. I bet this is off most people's radar because Halo and BLOPS2 just came out, pushing lots of good games to the wayside.
