Happy New Year everyone,

I received an Xbox 360 (4GB) for Christmas, and I'm wondering about the benefits of connecting a hard drive? If I connect a hard drive, can I use my existing NAS which has plenty of space available, or do I need to purchase a proprietary hard drive from microsoft?

I'm not looking to stream movies, play music, etc. Just looking to install purchased games on the drive so I don't have to use the disc each time.

One other question - When adjusting the Kinect, do I just click it to the position we'd like, or is there a motor or something to break.

Thanks in advance from an Xbox noob.

I'm confused too.

You have to use the proprietary drives.

You can try to use a non-branded drives (http://digiex.net/guides-reviews/console-guides/xbox-360-guides/3152-how-hack-250gb-320gb-sata-drive-work-xbox-360-xbox-360-slim.html), but your mileage may vary if MSFT decided to shut it down.

Also with the Kinect, the head will pivot to see you.

Salminella has become legend (or something like that): PSN

You can also use memory cards in the USB ports, but only up to 32gb I believe. That's only enough for 5 or so games.

Sorry but your best bet is just to bite the bullet and get a hard drive.

each flash drive can be 32 GB for a total of 64 GB.

but flash drives are treated as flash drive storage so anything that requires hard drive storage will not accept it even if you have enough space.
