changed tiers. On the off chance that I visited Comcast.net on Sunday night, I saw that there was a deal for $40 for "performance internet" + basic TV service (w/free SD box) and 1 year of HBO for free.
I thought it was weird so I decided to signup knowing that they were going to cancel it (like they did last time). I was already paying $40 for 3mb speed anyways. For the same price, I get much improved internet and free HBO to boot? Sold!
I get a call on Monday AM confirming so I get home Monday PM and the speed was there after a modem reboot (this is the old surfboard motorola)
What I thought was strange though was I had to set my router to only b/g instead of b/g/n to take advantage of the huge speed boost.
Straight cable I was getting 25/12 off a macbook pro and a dell laptop
wireless from computers I was getting 19/8
ipad speed tests were giving me 17/7
I'm really not sure why this is but It's much better than 3/1 speeds that I've been on for the longest time.
I mean I would struggle mightily to get a 1:1 ratio except last night, things were different. I was able to go 3/4/5:1 in TDM games. Not since MW2 days have I been able to do this. It felt good. I'm going to try on the 360 tomorrow to see how much better is it now. It was a lag fest every time!
I was playing last night while the wife was watching Netflix on the iPad without any interruptions on both sides. It was very nice and good for Comcast for offering and honoring the price.
