I have a single Xbox wireless receiver and I am planning on getting a Xbox Wireless receiver for the HTPC. I wanted to know if I can switch between the Xbox and HTPC receiver with minimum effort.

Would it involve only synchronizing the controller and the intended receiver every single time or is there some trick to avoid that as well?

Or would I need to get another controller?

You have to sync every time. Get a second controller of a different color.

MS sells a package with a separate controller and a wireless receiver for PC. Just get that. It's much easier than re-synching every time.
