I wanna get my TV at costco for better warranty and ease of returning/exchange if I don't like the TV for whatever reason. I wanna upgrade my old Sony KDF-50E2000 to something nicer and thinner while I have the money before I move outa state. I wanna do 60" if at all possible because, well, bigger is just always better. 90% of the usage is gonna be XBOX 360 and upcoming PS4 or XBOX 720. The rest will be Netflix streaming and Blu Ray.

CNETS review on the updated LE650U Sharp is pretty good. No reviews on the newer Samsungs yet.

Seems to be a fight between Sharp and Samsung LED LCD TV's atm. I've played on my Sony 50E2000 and whatever lag that hat, it has NEVER bothered or hindered my faction action game like Halo. I don't play that crap COD series. That being said, any input for buying a combo TV from what my local Costco is carrying atm?

If you can live without 3d, go with the 70 inch Vizio -

http://www.costco.com/VIZIO-70%22-Class-1080p-120Hz-Razor-LED-Smart-TV-E701i-A3.product.100015771.html

$1550 for a 70 inch panel is a pretty good price. Bigger is better. Going from a 50 inch rear projection set to a 55 or 60 inch LED is not that much of a difference in size other than depth. You won't have to worry anymore about changing bulbs..:)Where you will see a difference is going from 720p to 1080p on a larger (70 inch) display. Especially if you are a gamer. Go big or go home. How far away from your current set do you sit? CNET gave the Vizio a glowing review:

http://reviews.cnet.com/flat-panel-tvs/vizio-e701i-a3/4505-6482_7-35477664.html

Sharp and Samsung have better quality panels, but the Vizio offers good bang for the buck.

70" won't physically fit in my living area and even I know better then to stoop low enough to buy a Vizio. I'm also only able to sit about 7 feet away from the TV area, 70 would simply be too big.

If you want to blindly hate on Vizio, that's fine, but they do make decent sets for the money. Their new M series that's coming out is supposedly going to be very competitive. Sams/Costco also has the 60" E601 that's very good. In fact, from what I've read, the Vizio's use Sharp panels.

If you're really just going to be stubborn about it, I would say get the Samsung. The Sharp sets have horrible input lag across the board, where the Samsung sets range from good to okay. check http://www.displaylag.com/display-database/ to see if the sets you're interested in have been rated yet. I know he's behind on rating new 2013 sets so they may not be. If not, at least search by manufacturer to get an idea of their history with it.

Read. Think. Post. In that order, preferably

Thanks for that link. I am looking at getting a new TV hopefully later this year and the input lag is something I would like to avoid as much as possible. I'll have to bookmark that and look at it as it gets closer to when I have funds to buy a new TV. On the flipside as much as I would like a newer TV, I could take said funds and build a gaming desktop and really enjoy Battlefield 4 smile.gif
