That's what I thought as well (even Xbox One developers use it) From AV Notice infraction I just received "it's either Xbox One, X1 or XB1. Xbone seems to be considered derogatory."

If that's true its a new low for this place. Everywhere I go its called Xbone, and its not used negatively either.

There are about a hundred people on this thread that I have on ignore for constantly using the derogatory term for The One. I say "bravo" to the mods.

Here's an honest question then: do you call the Xbox 360 the XB360? If not, why not? It's the same type of shorthand so it should be natural to call the 360 the XB360. No one ever does though. It's always 360. Always. Why should this be any different for the One? Come on, you know damn good and well Xbone denotes a negative connotation. What's so hard with just saying the One and being done with it?

Good job dragging a pedantic argument back from May.

Edit: After all these months this remains the only place where I've found people whose feelings get hurt over something so petty. It's a non-existent issue everywhere else.

It does seem a bit silly to use a seemingly messianic term to describe video game hardware.

So it appears that MS has officially ended the LIVE GOLD FAMILY package . So if you had 4 people in your home (each with a console) the plan was about $100 they will now be requiring individual accounts so now it would cost $240.

I have 3 360 consoles in my home , everyone wants to play something different. But I guess when MS changes their mind someone needs to pay .

I was hoping this would be the way the One would work when you had multiple consoles in the home but it looks like they want full price for each console

You can still renew the FAM plan so anyone who has it can get another year now before its gone for good

Not everyone is going to have this issue with multiple systems. I have three 360s now and will have three One's this Fall. My kids are not going to be in my bedroom using my console and the primary system is going to be the one in the living room. The third is in my computer room which my wife and I use and she will have a gold member ship which we find for 30-40 dollars that comes out the same as one full price membership.

http://www.gamespot.com/news/microsoft-promises-exciting-news-at-gamescom-next-week-6412877

Microsoft will be giving away an Xbox One every hour during the German trade show.

Microsoft has publicly detailed its plans for Gamescom next week, with the Xbox One maker promising "exciting news" from the company.

As confirmed yesterday, Microsoft Studios boss Phil Spencer will open the German gaming trade show on August 21 with a keynote talk on next-generation gaming. He'll be joined by Cologne mayor Jürgen Roters and German federal minister for economy and technology Philipp Rösler.

Ahead of the event's formal opening, Microsoft adds that it will run its own showcase event on Tuesday 20. "We’re placing our focus on the games," said Microsoft in a statement. GameSpot will be in attendance.

"More people than ever before will have the opportunity to play Xbox One games and the team will be welcoming them with open arms," added Microsoft.

Games confirmed to be at Microsoft's booth include Forza Motorsport 5, Dead Rising 3, Ryse: Son of Rome, Project Spark, Killer Instinct, and Zoo Tycoon.

Additionally, Microsoft adds that it will be running a competition at its public Xbox booth, giving away an Xbox One console every hour.

Microsoft is returning to Gamescom this year after skipping the trade show in 2012.

Yes but there was only one master account with the family plan and you could monitor the use of the other consoles. I'm not ready to trust just yet... I'm paid up for another year and MS is giving a free 3 months because they are canceling . So This will likely be my last live payment for the 360 consoles anyway

Well I monitor the old fashion way as far as my kids go. They can't purchase anything and they have access to all the content they are allowed to play including DLC. They only get 2 hours on the weekend during the school year and an hour a day during the summer and holidays.

I do not know your circumstances, but unless you are getting three or more consoles I don't see an issue. Anyone on the "Home" console can play online with all the gold memberships. If you get a second console as long as one gold member is logged in anyone has gold. It would seem to me for most people they would go from 99 to 40-80 to cover the family.

Lol, I just figured out they came out on Monday with the news that the Kinect doesn't have to be plugged in for the console to work. Funny though, my posts from 12 hours ago still apply.

I assume that you've never used the current Kinect. It works perfectly well for me as long as there's not a huge amount of background noise. I understand that strong regional accents can throw it off--I've heard that Australians have had there problems with it.

I'm still amazed with the current Kinect. I recently play Forza Horizon which has the capability to use Voice commands with some things. The room was loud with noise from the game, and I would only need to talk in a lower than normal voice and Kinect would easily hear what I said. I used it a bunch of times and it always worked great. The same goes for the dashboard. And supposedly Kinect 2.0 has improved on that.

I'm feeling really burned by MS on this one. I have three teenagers at home, who all like to game and stream. When the family plan came out, I was thrilled with it for a dozen different reasons. Now they are going to jack me for $140 more, that's classy. This is purely motivated by money. I would be fine with maybe a bump to $160 etc, just to keep the convenient features it allows me. The thing that super irks me is that it looks like the points gifting feature will disappear, which will make another huge hassle for me.

They will be charging more for less. They are leaving people with less cash, and less motivation, to migrate to the X1. Their plan must not be very concerned with giving people incentive to migrate to the X1.

The best part about being in my 40's? I did all my stupid sh!t before the Internet.

The way it works now with the XB1 you may be able to get away with 3 consoles and 1 live account as long as you log onto the other two as guests . The question is can any sub account log in at another XB1 or does it have to be the master account holder ?

So it may turn out cheaper for the XB1 . This may be why they did away with the plan , kind of drives you to migrate.

No, not for voice. I own one but have only used the camera functionality. Most of my games have been PS3 this gen because I had a gap after getting RRODed a few times. My last XBox was purchased because of the Kinect but I found it to be less than what I had hoped for.

I suppose we can go with XB180, now. No wait, I suppose it should be XB360 with the Kinect business...... But that's taken. How about XB540? Maybe XB180^2?

Dude, are you made of leprechauns? Cause that was awesome!
