I don't foresee ever having a use for the BD drive of my XB1; if there had been a cheaper version sans BD I'd have gone for it.

Halo Anniversary 2 is interesting. I'd wanted to play Halo Anniversary but refused to buy a disc. Just as well if there's going to be an XB1 remake.

Yeah in all honesty MS is behind the curve when it comes to a digital games store. Sony kills them in day one digital, pre-order bonuses, download codes, shopping cart, just general ease of use with their digital store (not access to mind you. The 360 is worlds ahead of the PS3 in actually accessing the store to buy games). If MS can equalize in many areas that it nothing but good news for all of us. I want a healthy competitive digital store front. Trading in digital games needs to be a part of that though for it to be really successful. This isn't the PC, console players expect certain things when dealing with their games and if Sony and MS are smart they'll offer this in some form or fashion. I think whoever can figure out a way to offer digital trade-ins/resells will put a serious hurt on the competition.

No Kinect ain't happening - there's no way they'll remove the "next generation" portion of the "next generation console".

Really the only option is a USB drive, 500gb ain't going to cut it that's for certain.

It's just my opinion & it's worth exactly what you paid for it.

I think as long as they enable the external storage this shouldn't be an issue. I certainly plan on taking advantage of it.

Through March 2nd you can trade in a PS3 or 360 at a MS Store and get an XB1 for $399.

I wouldn't trade it in if you only have one but if you have a couple of them it seems like a good deal.

hmm... I do have a spare 360 lying around... but unless there are system link games, I don't see a need for multiple consoles. I wish more games supported system link.

if I have two spare 360s laying around, does that make it $299 for an XBOX One?

edit: never mind, I found the coupon

Valid January 23, 2014 until March 2, 2014, or while supplies last. Available in select Microsoft retail stores in US (including Puerto Rico) and Canada; not valid online. To be eligible for trade in, product must power on and be in fully functional, working condition without broken/missing components, cracked display/housing or liquid damage, cannot be password protected, and include original chargers/accessories. To receive maximum trade in value, you must purchase an Xbox One at the same time. Any appraised value will be determined at trade in and provided as store credit, subject to Microsoft’s discretion and approval. All trade ins are final. Not valid on prior orders or purchases; cannot be transferred or otherwise redeemed for cash or gift cards. Combinable with select Xbox One and Xbox Live offers. Discount does not include taxes, shipping or other fees. Void where prohibited or restricted by law. Microsoft reserves the right to modify or discontinue offers at any time. Limit 1 per trade in/purchase.

still, $399 is not bad, I'll just donate my old stuff to my bro-laws

Back in the day we had 3 Xbox's going, 65" and a 57" CRT RP and then a smaller tube all in my two bedroom condo. 4th group played via xbox-connect from another location All just for the multiplayer Halo: CE biggrin.gif I miss gaming like that, almost everybody together in person. Some 8 player Saturn Bomberman as well was a bit crazy.

With the original Xbox, we used to have Halo system link parties all the time. We'd lug our old-school CRT TVs over to one guy's house and set them up in four different rooms. It was great fun to yell trash talk across the house. Playing online doesn't quite match that experience.

Nope, not even close. It is a good alternative for those of us that can't live that life style anymore.

I'm currently engaged and attempting to get my future wife to be more of a gamer. I have made some progress, we completed Diablo 3 together on the 360! As for all the LAN gaming, I continue to try and do exactly that! After sometime next week, I'll have 6 Xbox 360's at my disposal.... biggrin.gif If anyone is in the Maryland Area and would be interested in participating in some LAN gaming, hit me up with a message or something..

Indeed. I spent many a night when I worked at a local high end audio shop while in college playing Halo 1 with the guys at our store at night. We'd close the store, order pizza and drinks, and set our Xbox's up across the store and run a 8 port switch to link them all together. It'd be 3 or 4 in the morning before we were done. All night we'd play, trash talking and having a good time. Such good gaming memories. Alas that was a long time ago and while I would prefer they at least give us that option with MP games I doubt I'd take advantage of it anymore. Still it'd be good for those that otherwise would to have the ability to. It makes for great times and you can meet some great friends that pure online just doesn't afford you.

Used to love those old lan parties for Halo and Halo 2.

We would even play the original Halo online via xbconnect, so we had the best of both worlds. Good times.

Did you guys ever turn off (go to sleep) with the TV app running? I booted up my Xbox and the TV was running front and center on my home screen. Might be a 'workaround" for those that want the Xbox to boot directly to TV. Of course, you need to press A or give the voice command to go fullscreen but it's better than having to launch the app.

Day one for me also. If you run your cable/sat through the One as I'd imagine most here do, it'd seem likely that watching tv would be your last "activity" when you turn it off so when you shout out "Xbox On" the tv app is what's front and center.

Mine turns the DirecTV box off when I tell it to "turn off". When I turn it back on, DirecTV comes back on and is in the center position if it was the last app that was there. I have yet to fall asleep while gaming or watching tv with the One on, but it is set to go off after an hour of inactivity(if I remember correctly). Not sure what happen when I eventually do that.

I just have the xbox one a button mapped on my "Watch TV" activity on my harmony. If it's the last thing I did on the XB1, i can just hit the button, otherwise I just say Watch TV.
