Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate coming to the Xbox One.
Quote:
The hack-and-slash action of Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate is now in development for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Tecmo Koei announced today.

Warriors Orochi 3 was originally released in 2012 and combined the worlds of Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors into one battle for the survival of humanity. Warrirors Orochi 3 Ultimate not only has enhanced graphics for the PS4 and Xbox One, but also includes a new main storyline and new side stories.

Very nice. Absolutely loved Warriors Orochi 3 on PS3. If you love the DW/SW games, this is the one to play, IMO.

i know some people were saying how "only people complaining about kinect were people who wouldn't but anyways, etc.."

http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/05/23/gamestop-seeing-stronger-demand-for-xbox-one-following-price-cut

GameStop has seen increased interest in the Xbox One following Microsoft's announcement of a price cut for the console, the retailer's president said on a financial earnings call yesterday.

"I definitely think we're already seeing in our stores [that] there's a stronger demand as a result of the price drop," GameStop president Tony Bartel said. "The good news for us is... we'll sell a lot more units.

"And that means there will be more [Xbox One] units out there to put software on."

Microsoft announced it will begin shipping the Xbox One without Kinect nine days ago. The console's alternate price point brings it down to the PlayStation 4's, at $399 USD, £349, 399 Euros and $499 AUD starting June 9, and comes as a result of user feedback. But the company plans on continuing to promote the accessory as usual.

"Kinect remains an important part of our vision," head of Xbox Phil Spencer said following the announcement. "We will continue to innovate on Kinect. I think it's an important differentiator for us."

I thought about buying the fastest USB 3 powered portable drive but apparently that won't work. Sad--that would be perfect for people who wanted to grab their drive, plop it into their pockets and take it to a friend's. Of course you could still do it through a powered hub but not a lot of advantage there.

Anyone know how to clear out the "Ready to Start" flag on an app?" Since the May update it's been showing on Netflix, Uplay, Upload Studio, Xbox Fitness, and Kinect Sports Rivals, even though I've run all of these games and apps since then. If I press the menu button, it also still for some reason has "Pause installation" in the menus. Do I really need to uninstall and then reinstall them for it to properly go away or something?

I see them but they don't bother me to worry about it. As long as the games and apps launch like they always have it is all good.

Well it sits at #231 on Amazon's games list, so the interest seems to be localized to Gamestop, which is believable if you have ever shopped there.

Well correcton on the max size:

External drives must be USB 3.0 powered or USB powered.
Two external drives are supported at the same time plus the internal drive with a maximum of 32.5TB max!

Plus:

The June update preview is coming soon, so get that external storage ready!

Level X

Posted 05-23-2014 1:52 PM
Hi all! We know since Wednesday's announcement of the June update that you are all very excited to get to see these new features in action, and we're working hard to deliver! While I can't say a specific time, I can tell you we will have this update ready for you to preview *very soon*.

With that in mind, we thought you might like to get ready for one of the coolest features of the June update: External Storage. If you've been holding off to pick up a drive, don't delay! Just make sure you pick up a hard drive that meets the following requirements:

Must be USB 3.0
At least 256GB in size
Some other notes to keep in mind:

You can connect up to two external hard drives at once, and we encourage those of you who want to try this and have two hard drives to do so!
Your external hard drive can be powered by either an AC Adapter or straight from USB
That's it! Hopefully you'll be ready to plug in a drive as soon as the update is released for preview, and start installing ALL the things! We'll let you know the moment we are ready to kick off this preview for you, but until then - Game on! smile.gif

I got my SSDs today. Now I just need to order the USB 3.0 enclosures. Hopefully I won't have any issues since I expect the USB 3.0 port to power the enclosures and SSDs.

Posted where? Maybe I will buy that "fastest USB 3.0 powered drive" (2TB Seagate Backup Plus Slim; apparently the 4TB has some reliability issues).

When I got in it was by invitation and there was a mechanism to get them to invite your friends, since that first update had friends-related enhancements. There may still be some mechanism, but I don't know what it is. I know that they removed the original one, which was to post your friends' gamertags into a thread in their forum.

I just picked up a 4TB external drive. Will the USB drive power the HDD? If not, do I have to manually turn the external drive on or leave it on all the time?

In that update preview forum post that mboojigga quoted above, they say that you can use USB 3.0 powered drives. Not all USB drives are made to run on USB power, though, so maybe not the one that you bought. If it was called a "portable" drive, it will almost certainly be able to run on USB power.

I should hope that it spins the drive down when you turn the console off or put it into standby state. When you attach a drive, it puts stuff there first, overflowing into the built-in drive, so you'll always need the attached drive once you start using one.

USB only supplies so much power. A 4TB drive sounds like a 3.5 inch drive. Aren't the 2.5 inch drives typically powered by USB? Every external 3.5" drive I've ownned had it's own power. Is this not the case any more?

The Seagate Backup Plus Fast 4 TB is two 2 TB drives in a Raid 0 and its USB 3.0 powered (it's also a bit pricey, so I probably won't get that). I believe that all of the drives which call themselves "portable" can be USB powered; it's my preference since I have a gazillion things plugged in already.

USB 3.0 can supply a ton of power, something like 100W. At least 10-20 3.5 drives can run off of that, so I think it's no longer a concern.

I thought that spec came out recently? I haven't heard of any device using it yet. I know non of my 3.0 devices do. It had issues with a 2TB USB 3.0 drive using more power than USB 3.0 ports I tried would supply.

EDIT: I just looked at Wiki. That 100watt spec is the newer version of USB 3.0 which I think is called USB 3.1. Which also doubles the transfer rates to 10Gbps.

EDIT: I see products aren't supposed to appear with the USB 3.1 chips until late 2014.
But the article is from 2013.

So does anyone know if these devices are available yet?

Does the XBOne have USB ports that can have these faster speeds and can supply the high wattage?

Yeah, you're right. So USB 3.0 is either .15 amp or .9 amp per port...which translates to .75W or 4.5W. As long as it's the .9 amp port it should still be able to handle a 5400rpm 3.5 inch drive, but it's cutting it super close. Probably best to buy a powered enclosure.

In any case, MS invites us to use USB 3.0 powered drives. One should think that those drives will be designed to use original spec power. We'll soon see what limitations if any there are.

I can easily wait to see how it goes before buying a drive; I'm only 30% full on the system drive smile.gif.

That was the problem with the first SSD I had picked out to use. It was a PNY XLR8 Pro 480GB SSD. But in reviews it said it used up to a whopping 5watts. Which just seemed crazy for an SSD. But every review I looked at mentioned an extremely high power usage. Luckily I was able to cancel the order before it shipped. Otherwise I would have had to pay Newegg a 15% restocking fee.

So I went with Crucial 480GB SSDs. For only $220 on sale it seemed like a good deal. Especially since the PNY drives had also required a rebate to get down to that price. But these prices are half as much as when I bought my Intel SSDs for a couple of my Desktop PCs and Netbook. So I'm hoping these two SSDs will last a while in USB 3.0 enclosures with my XBOnes. So by the time I need more storage I hope prices will be down at least half as much again.

They'll prob last the life of the system...I dont think anything you can do to them with a console could wear them out. I dunno what's going on with SSDs right now, but prices are crashing hard. We're down to less than .50 cents a GB.

The preview beta for the Xbox One June software update is now being rolled out to those that have applied for testing, and Microsoft released the detailed patch notes on the private preview forums:

___________

Welcome to the Xbox One June update preview! The 1406 wave contains many exciting features- many of them specifically requested by you! Now you don’t have to worry about running out of space, or who that one Gamertag on your Friends list really is. You can sign in automatically without needing Kinect, and you might find the Xbox Store a little bit brighter on the Home page.

We’ll be rolling out this update for the preview audience over the next few days in waves beginning on 5/24, and the rest following shortly after. Read on for the quick notes:

Features in the June update preview:

External Storage for your Games and Apps. This has been a much requested feature, and it’s here! With the June update preview, you can connect up to two external hard drives to use as extra storage for your Xbox One console. We have a detailed list of how to use this feature here, and you can discuss everything external storage related in the External Storage on Xbox One forums. Don’t forget to check out the FAQ!

Real Name Sharing: Now you can share your real name with your friends, and even with your friends-of-friends. Don’t worry though, you’re in total control – share your name with your entire friends list, or just a few. The next time you open the Friends app, you’ll receive a setup prompt. If you don’t receive the prompt, you can also access the setup by selecting My profile and Share real name.

Auto Sign-In. You requested this, and now you have it! With Auto-Sign In, you can now select an account to sign in automatically when you turn on your Xbox One. To enable this option, navigate to Settings > Preferences > Instant sign-in, and choose the account you wish to sign in automatically. The next time you turn on the system, you’ll be signed-in from the get-go!

Updated Store for Home. The Xbox Store has been redesigned and now includes featured content front and center with Game, Movie, Music, and App categories to the right. The search bar has also been moved, and it’s now an icon under the categories at the far right.

Please note we’ve added a new widget next to the forums to keep you updated on what the current update OS number should be, and when you should expect it. You can click on the version number to go to the post for more information. As always, for the latest news on updates, new additions, known issues, and fixes, please visit the Announcements forum.

In addition to the patch notes, Microsoft also posted an official FAQ for the widely anticipated external storage feature that will allow Xbox One users to easily extend the capacity of their console without opening it and voiding the warranty:

___________

Q: What can I install on my external storage device?
A: You can install games, downloadable content, and apps on your storage device.

Q: Can I store game saves on the external storage device?
A: No. Game saves are automatically stored in the cloud and synced to the Xbox One console.

Q: Can I use the external storage device for music and video playback?
A: No. For the initial release of the external storage feature, media files, including music and videos, are not supported. We are considering this for a future release.

Q: Can I copy or move a game from my internal hard drive to my external storage device?
A: Yes. Check out the content management features by going the Manage page for the game or app.

Q: Can I use my external storage device with my PC as well as my Xbox One?
A: No. The external storage device will be formatted for use by the Xbox One console only. PCs won’t recognize the drive partition created by the Xbox One.

Q: Can I re-format my storage device from my Xbox One console?
A: If you’d like to remove all content from your storage device and start over, you can re-format your storage device on the Xbox One. To do this, go to Settings>System>Manage Storage, choose the external drive you want to format, and select Format. After this is done, the Xbox One will treat it as a brand new drive.

◾Note: Formatting causes the storage device to wipe all data.

Q: Do I need to bring my game disc while roaming with my storage device?
A: Yes. The external storage device does not change the licensing for games, so if the game was installed from a disc, the disc is required to play the game.

___________

If you’re part of the beta preview, you may want to check if you’re Xbox One has the update available (it normally happens in multiple waves). If you want to participate but you’re not in the program yet, you can ask someone that has already been accepted for an invite.

Of course you should keep in mind that despite the definition of “preview,” you’ll be taking part to the beta testing of a critical part of the operating system of your console, and that means that you’re going to experience bugs and problems that can very well impact your gaming experience.

As an appetizer, below you can see a picture of the new layout of the store, courtesy of Twitter user Rhys Weir.

I saw this posted in reddit so I thought I would share it here. This is coming in the June update.

I just noticed a setting that allows you to choose what signal Kinect sends to the TV/cable-box when you turn the Xbox One on or off.

Before it was just a "Toggle" signal, which meant if your TV happened to be on, the Xbox would actually turn it off. And if the TV was off, and you turned your Xbox off, it would turn your TV off.

Now you can choose "On/Toggle/Nothing" and "Off/Toggle/Nothing":

Power & Startup -> TV & A/V Power Options

Microsoft also redesigned the store
