I finally got around to watching the rest of the main Microsoft presentation... is it just me, or is anyone else getting a "Full Spectrum Warrior" vibe from "The Division"? Not a bad thing, because that was a great game. Just wondering if I'm maybe seeing stuff that isn't there.

I think it was just a really well staged demo. No way some random group is going to be that tactical.

I think it's a safe assumption though, since Titanfall running at 792p is pretty solid evidence that they can run any arbitrary resolution.

I get what you're saying though, it's definitely possible they settled on 900p because it's familiar.

Another possibility is there's more to the story than "10% GPU time", and the kinect stuff sucked up a chunk of the edram. Getting a few MB of that back might make a bigger resolution jump more viable.

On a side note, the console seems to be getting better, but the Kinect has gotten worse for me. It's to the point where I don't want to use it anymore. Xbox on never works anymore and yes I've calibrated the console. It's fair to say Kinect just wasn't ready. There's are a few who swear by it, but if it worked so well there wouldn't be so many people complaining about it non stop all over the net.

Anyone else have their console immediately open up Netflix only to be told that you can't connect to live? I've done a full restart on my machine.

Sorry to hear it doesn't work for you but "complaining about it non stop all over the net" is an utterly rubbish metric. We'll just start with for every one who makes noise there are hundreds or thousands who are happy & don't make a sound. We're a nation of complainers

Love it or hate it, it will be interesting to see how it goes now that MS is down to "but wait! there's more......why buy that when you can have a crappier spec'd machine for the same price".

  • Snap Mode for Achievements. As we showed at our E3 Green Carpet event before the show, we’re offering an easier way to track and view your achievements in the moment. With Achievement Snap, you can track your achievement progress in real time without ever leaving the game. You can also ‘Get Help’ on any Achievements you’re struggling with. Xbox will scan the web for you and deliver relevant tips and strategy content right to your TV. You can view a video about this feature

  • Double-tap to Snap. Double-tap the button on you controller to bring up Snap Center, where you can launch Achievements or any other snap-able app, without leaving your game. Already have an app snapped? Double-tap quickly switches between your game and the snapped app.
  • Choice of Spoken Language. Folks in New Zealand, Ireland and Austria can now enable voice control using the English or German voice models from other countries. And if you're an expat in an English-speaking country, you, too, can choose any of the other English language models that fit you.
  • Future Digital Bundles and Compilation Discs. We’re doing some work now so that publishers will have options for great digital bundle and disc compilation offerings in the future. As we test this feature, we’ll be seeing more flexible combinations of game titles and game content.
  • ‘Like’ Game DVR clips. We’re are adding the ability to ‘Like’ all your favorite Game DVR clips as well as activity feed items in SmartGlass.

I'm hoping they finally fix the surround output from the HDMI in and Apps. But at this point I'm not holding my breath. Until they fix it I can't seriously use my XBOnes for apps or the HDMI input. Since the rear audio erroneously comes out of the rear surrounds in a 7.1 setup. Of course game audio and BD audio comes out of the proper channels. But why they can't fix this, i don't know.

I've noticed Kinect getting worse for me too. Ever since I've been in the preview program. Also the console keeps defaulting back to 2 channel uncompressed for some reason. I have to change it nearly every time I turn the Xbox on. Not sure if anyone else has had this issue.

What was the percentage of the GPU devoted to graphics? Freeing up 8% of total GPU time for graphics is more than 10% depending on how much was originally allocated for graphics.

I was under the impression that 10% was always dedicated. With this change, they are only reserving 2% GPU. I could be wrong in my interpretation of the information.

I don't know where that 2% comes from. From what I've read the entire 10% Kinect/Snap-render reserve is now available to game devs.

The new "double-tap-to-snap" feature seems directly aimed at support of Kinect-less machines. They need to add a similar shortcut for launching games and apps. My favorite use of Kinect is the voice command "Xbox, go to [game-or-app]"; being able to quickly launch what you want without navigating through menus to select it is brilliant.

I hope Kinect-sucks minded people don't get screwed and gimp it for the rest of us long term at the same time. Even as of today....

$429 = X1+Kinect+Forza
$399 = X1+thank you for purchasing

There is nothing better than walking into a room and having instant and multiple media channels (snap features) on demand by just saying a few words...definitely worth $30. Forget the great free game.

I'm going to be point blank honest, all things being equal, if a person passes up that deal for a kinect-less X1 that person is a fool. There, I said it. Even if you don't plan to use it you could sell it for much more than the 30 AND you get a free game. Like I said though all things being equal. If there is some incentive beyond that to get it from one place over the other then I can understand.

Agreed.

The only incentive is one less point of access for the NSA, it's cool, I get that part.

But if what happens on your couch or bedroom is that epic, it should be saved for prosperity or shared.

It could be worse....

Just watch playstation live for hints at the end of humanity. Bong hits with kittens, twerking practice, Germany...enough said...

It's still working great here with both of my XBOnes. Although if my dehumidifier is in the room I will sometimes need to say it a second time.
