Since this is now the opposite of what it was like in 2006. When the PS3, at $500, cost half as much as a stand alone BD player(which were around $1k). But now you can buy excellent BD players with 3D for much, much less than the cost of a game console.
I think this has been mentioned several times before, but in my case it comes down to rackspace. The 3D HDTV currently has 4 hdmi devices hooked up to it. An X1, PS4, Apple TV & cable box. I've held on to the ps3 as a 3d Br player but have held out in purchasing a standalone player in the hopes that at least one of the new BR consoles would have 3D support eventually. There haven't been many new 3D releases that the kid just had to watch in the interim so I just asked her to be patient and we 'd get 3D eventually without having to hook up the PS3 or buy a standalone player. Just my particular circumstance.

I can't consider doing that with my XBOnes because of the borked surround audio. With the apps and the HDMI input, the surround audio from 5.1, erroneously comes out of the rear surrounds in a 7.1 system when 5.1 or 7.1 output is selected. Which screws up the way things are supposed to sound.

I use several auto switching HDMi switches to deal with a lack of HDMI ports on my DVDO DUO video processor.

Not ports Worm...rackspace & real estate. Wall mounted plasma and the shelfspace for components is crammed already. No sense in modifying the entertainment center since 3D support for 2 of the components that are already there is imminent. Just had to wait a while

I've got a few hdmi switches and splitters. One is taking the HDMI out from the cablebox and sending it to both the XBone and a separate HDMI input so the wife/kid dont have to bother with a controller or kinect to watch TV.

I just noticed that the Destiny beta is now open to all XBL Gold members, as of yesterday afternoon, originally only open to pre-orders. Not particularly excited about the game (seems like a strange, Halo-flavored RPG) but might as check it out for free .

I'll post this question here. Does anyone have any issues where the volume display for the Denon receivers quit showing up? I have my Xbox Once connected to my Denon 3808 and it used to show the volume display when I turned it up, now it only shows on the receiver. I can not figure out what I changed, or if I did something else. Any Denon people on here know what the setting is on the GUI?

Known issue with the 3808 I think. Turn your receiver all the way off (small power button) then back on and it should return unless you actually turned it off in the menu. If the power cycle doesn't work try turning everything off then unplugging the receiver completely for a few minutes

Powering it all the way off did the trick (did not have to unplug it). Thanks for the tip! Much easier to to do that then go into the menu and search for to the option. It is so much easier to read on the TV Screen then the small screen on the receiver

Still no 3D as of today.
I was hoping for a weekend surprise, I keep launching the app in anticipation.

I just added several more 3D Blu-rays to my collection in preparation today (many on sale at best buy).

Hurry up MS! We are waiting...

My Astro A50's stopped working after the latest preview (August) update was released - standard optical out. I've tried everything. No sound. Any ideas?

Just tried mine out and they worked fine. Did you go to the settings to make sure something didn't get changed? Have you tried the A50's with another device to make sure it isn't the headset?

They are working ok on the PS4 and I've reset all of the various audio settings. I haven't tried the bedroom X1 but thanks to you, it just occurred to me to do that. Thanks!

I was just messing around in the menus and there was a new system update available. This would be August update preview version 2. Installed it but don't notice anything different except for the friend feed actually working and updating as quickly as it should but still no 3D.

I'd be shocked if they don't push out the app update tomorrow. Sony announced they'll have theirs out sometime this week, so I'm sure Microsoft wants to be first. Since they can update the app again whenever necessary, it's not going to matter much if it's unfinished.

Problem is Sony's appears to be a finished version where MS will only be for the preview members, so not going to be first.

If you do your validation with the other XB1 and verify you audio settings are correct (I'm assuming the A50 are related to the optical audio out settings being set for DD) & you still have the issue, try a soft reset by holding the power button.

I had a no-audio glitch with the TV app after the 1407 preview update and the reset fixed it.

Any available table on Xbox One that was previously purchased for Xbox 360 can be imported to the new version free of charge. However, as this process will take a bit more development time for the game, Pinball FX2 version of Xbox One will see a slight delay from its original release date this week to next month. We apologize to any fans affected by this delay, but we pledge to make it up to you by incorporating this highly desired feature.

Yes that does sound interesting. $5 a month to get unlimited access to some of the EA games sounds like a good deal if those are the games you want to play. Plus you will get 10% off EA titles you purchase from the XBOne game store.

I don't think it's a game changer when all they're offering is old versions. Madden 25 and FIFA 14 are both last year's version. Madden 15 comes out in a month. FIFA 15 comes out in September. Battlefield 4 is similarly old, and Peggle is great, but it's not like that's expensive anyway.

I mean, there's no way whatsoever that EA is going to give you their new content right away. Madden alone is far too much of a cash cow for it to be included in this until the season is over anyway. In my opinion, this is mostly a double-dip just like their previous 'Early Access' program. You get a 5 day early trial of games like Madden, and they throw in a few small bonuses just to sweeten the offer.

I'd just be shocked if they include new enough titles for it to be anywhere close to a game changer.

For $30 a year, this sounds like a good deal. I'm waiting to see what other titles they open up when they are out of beta.

This sounds like a good deal to me. I already own Battlefield 4 which is the most compelling gaming offer so far for me. However, as they will be adding more games on as time passes the value of playing full games will only go up. My only question is if there is a sale for Games with Gold do I get an additional 10% on top of advertised deal.

I doubt there's ever going to be that large of a library.

Today we're writing to let you know about EA Access announced today by EA. EA Access is a subscription product created by the teams at Microsoft and EA, and it's exclusive to Xbox One!

EA Access members receive the following benefits:
  • Access to The Vault, a collection of EA’s best games ready for you to download and play. During the beta, gamers will have unlimited access to four great EA games: Madden NFL 25, FIFA 14, Peggle 2 and Battlefield 4, with more to be added soon.
  • Play upcoming EA titles five days before the release date through exclusive trials.
  • Enjoy discounts on EA titles and DLC.
As a member of the Xbox One Preview, you are getting a first look at EA Access. You'll receive an Xbox Live message on your console with a code to download the EA Access Hub app, and there'll be some quests and surveys available in the Xbox Preview Dashboard app. (Note: While you can download and browse the EA Access Hub app for free, you'll need to purchase a EA Access subscription to enjoy all the benefits.)

Doesn't sound much different from Games with Gold or the PS counterpart.
They are responding this way on twitter.

We have no plans to remove any game from The Vault. If one does leave you'll be notified and can opt to purchase with your discount.
