Don't know if it was posted before but NBA Live is available in the EA Access vault to try the full version for free. Dragon Age is available for pre download and members with EA Access get 10 percent discount. Deluxe edition is 62.99 from 69.99.

The 5.0 is here

Only reason I bought a PS4 for is to play the Last of Us & Uncharted 4 when it comes out. Last of Us is a badass game, can be tough at times.

It is nice to have both consoles. Forza 2 Horizon and The Last of Us make them both worth while.

Now that they're getting pretty cheap I'm starting to consider buying one again. Been a while since I've had one, how far has it come on the media front? Does it have Amazon and hbo go yet?

I know it has Amazon. but the surround audio is still borked in a 7.1 and higher system. I checked last night with the latest preview software and the surround audio was still erroneously coming out of the rear surrounds with the apps and HDMI input. Fortunately BD playback and games have the audio mapped correctly. But it's coming up on close to a year and this issue still hasn't been fixed. Kind of hard for me to do any serious video watching when audio that should be coming from the sides is coming from behind me. It is very annoying.

Hmm, well I don't have anything beyond 5.1 so that wouldn't be an issue.

So if you search through bing or whatever for a movie or show that you have on Amazon or Netflix, does it bring that up in the results, or does it just search the microsoft stuff?

I haven't used Amazon but I do know I can Bing search stuff on Netflix. Also gives an option to go to the latest episode of the show. Works well.

If a Bing search matches a movie or TV show and you select that, there'll be a "Get It Now" option which will state how many options there are; select it and it will list them for you to choose from. It might list that it's available from VUDU, Netflix and Amazon and if from Amazon whether it's Prime or not.

But there's nothing like a unified content browser that brings all this stuff together in one interface though right? You have to specifically search for stuff to get the multiple service options?

Also, can I pin a show on Netflix or whatever to the dash?

No and yes. Do you know of some other device with a unified media browser? I know of multiple devices with unified searches but nothing like that.

I have a Yamaha RX-V473 receiver. I use this with my full hd optima projector. I have a HD tv box(1080p) and an apple tv(2nd gen)(720p) and sony Blu Ray player(1080p) all working fine with RX-V473 and outputs are all fine. Now before i upgraded my xbox 360 that also worked at 1080p with no issues. I have now upgraded to the xbox one and i can only get 720p output to work via the receiver. As soon as i upscale via xbox one the signal keeps dropping and will not output in 1080p. I have upgraded to the latest firmware on the RX-V473, and still no joy. The xbox one when i hook up to my samsung es8000 will work no prob at 1080p. Please can any body help as I'm going mad here.

Something I've been wondering inside the console settings.

There is a section for "Preferred Video Provider". There is nothing in there and hasn't been since launch. Anybody know what it is?

Yes you can, at least I think you can with Netflix. I know you can with Amazon Instant Video. I got a show pinned now that seems like it might be a waste of time though. Watched an episode of "The After" at the beginning of this year and been waiting ever since for the series to start. However I'm getting the feeling it's not going to start at all.

Not that I know of, but it would be an instabuy if there was.

Problem I'm having now is that the collection of boxes under my living room tv is growing out of hand. First came the Apple TV, which does Netflix, iTunes, HBO and AirPlay....but not Amazon or DLNA. So then came the fireTV, which has Amazon well integrated and also does Netflix...but doesn't do itunes, HBO or AirPlay, does DLNA poorly and requires a proprietary RF remote that doesn't work with my harmony. So I put the Xbox 360 up there too, which supports everything and works with a remote....but it's loud, slow, power hungry and low quality 720p.

I basically realized I can sell all that stuff and buy an Xbox one. It's much faster than the 360 when it comes to starting up and launching media apps, right?

I just checked Netflix and VUDU and couldn't see any way to do it in either. If I pressed the Menu key with a title selected in either app it just gave me the option of unpinning the app from the dashboard.

Ahh ok. I know with Amazon you can. Kinda dumb that these apps don't have more uniformity in features.

I couldn't see how to do it in Amazon, either. I selected an episode of a series and hit MENU and one of the options was "Pin this item to home"; I selected it and it pinned the Amazon app to home.

Hmm maybe you're doing something wrong then. I do know I have The After pinned on my home. I click on it every now and then just to see if there's more than just the two episodes (Pilot and the Director Notes or whatever). Let me check on Netflix. Maybe they removed it since I last used it. That was in February or so.

Those are Amazon pins. I can try Netflix and see if it's supported as well. Can you name a series?

EDIT: Done!
Pinned "The Walking Dead" from Netflix

Media app startup, yes. Booting up depends on whether you leave it in "Instant-On" mode or not. It consumes 15W continuously in Instant-On, but takes a relatively long time to boot up from Power-Saver mode, longer than my 360 S w/Kinect. I just timed it and the 360 takes 48 seconds to boot to dashboard fully up, the Xbox One in Power-Saver takes 1 minute 45 seconds; in Instant-On mode it takes 10 seconds and some paused games will start up where you left them (Destiny will dump you but it's a shared world game that cannot be paused as such).

If you buy it sans Kinect it's possible that Instant-On might not consume as much; I don't know. If you buy Kinect and want to use calling out "Xbox On" to start the system you have to use Instant-On mode.

I timed some app starts on both. (Can you tell that I'm bored )? Amazon took 27 seconds to start on 360, 8 seconds on the One; Netflix took 34 seconds to start on 360, 28 seconds on the One; VUDU took 24 seconds to start on 360, 10 seconds on the One. Netflix, written primarily in JavaScript, dynamically downloads a lot of code on startup (Roku and Netflix optimized that for Roku 3 and the Roku HDMI Stick so that after the first start after boot it takes 2 seconds flat to start up, bringing you back to precisely the place where you exited).
