I wish I could trade my Day One Kinect for an Elite Controller.

Sadly, my Day One controller has just started experiencing right stick drift. And the Elite Controller isn't available 'til end of Oct.

It can't be much. SSHDs typically only have 8GB of flash. Maybe 16GB at most.

I've seen them range anywhere from 4-128GB. The most recent seagate and WD hybrids are 8GB.

I'd say it would need to be at least 32-64gb for it to have a sustained effect on game load speeds, but 8gb is still useful.

I would think it would mostly affect the OS load from a cold boot. Otherwise I would think most games are too large for the SSHD flash to have an affect.

At first I thought is said SSD and I was all psyched. But then when I realized it was just an SSHD the excitement went away. I already ran my XBOnes with external SSDs last year. Before finally opting to use the USB 3.0 powered 4TB Seagate Fast Plus drives, earlier this year.

Cold boot, and OS boot speed aside, would the dashboard apps benefit from adding the FLASH section? Anything that would speed up bringing up the FL, and snapped apps would be a huge plus. (think: the speed of bringing up the FL on the 360...it's soooo sloooooww on the One...) It would also be great if they would offer a way for us early adopters to add our own, and upgrade to the new Elite features.

Anything that uses the hard drive could theoretically benefit, so probably? Depends on their implementation. If it's purely a hardware implementation and the OS isn't hinting at what to store in flash, then it's going to have a mix of frequent and recently used data.

Is FL friends list? If not what is it? The friends list comes up quick for me. In a second or less. And the snapped apps come up in a few seconds.

Yeah...Friends List. I'm not sure we're talking about the same way to bring up the FL...or snap. I am talking about while playing a game, you see a friend jump on and you want to message, or invte them. With the 360, it was instantaneous...punch the guide button and you were immediately in their profile...another quick button press, and an invite was sent.

Now, with the system as is...you have to go to the app...( either snapped or via the dash) and three more menu items later you have to type the message...then you have to unsnap. All while trying to play. It's tedious...and maybe my system is glitched....(I doubt it, as my friends all have the same complaint. ) but it takes forever to bring up the snap menu, select the app, launch the app...select the person...yadda yadda.

I don't use the controller to bring that stuff up during a game. I use Kinect and can just say "Xbox, snap friends" and the Friends List usually comes up within a second.

And using Kinect you can also get to the point of sending a message. Of course then you still need to type in the message. But getting there is quick with Kinect. With no need to use the controller for it until entering the message.

The problem though is not everyone has a kinnect now. Having the kinnect does make it easier though.

Don't they have a revamped UI coming out later this year? i would think those issues would be addressed then. Especially since they no longer push Kinect, and most systems sold don't have Kinect anymore.

Well, I do have the Kinect, but I have to scream at the thing because it's in my rack...15-20 feet away (as the crow flies), and MS blew the whole extension thing by not offering a solution with their proprietary connector. I tried to use "Snap Friends" last week, and ended up in "TWITCH"...so there's that.

I'll try it...but I think I have in the past...and although it seemed a bit faster, it's still not as quick/easy as the 360 was.

I really think most of the problems will go away when the win 10 ui comes out. I'm hoping it gets released soon for preview members.

thats a Tivo limitation.

if they can get auto refresh rate switching to work like it does for blurays and implement libdcadec on the server (the new open source DTS-MA decoder) then they would really have something on their hands.

Yeah auto refresh rate switching would be fantastic, AFAIK there is no plex client that supports that on any platform though.

I just ordered a new Xbox One controller* (the one with the 3.5" jack) because I've been experiencing stick drift with my Day One controller, particularly the right stick.

Probably too soon to tell, but has anyone read or experienced any drifting issues with the new model of controller?

Honestly.. less clutter, just find it a PITA. I would rather just put a 2TB HDD or a 1TB SSD but I probaly have to settle for an External SSD

My left stick on my original One controller has drift, and it won't respond when I have to push/click it downward. What a piece...my 360 version didn't start doing that til after 6-7years.

Same here. My click won't "click". It'll do whatever I need it to do but I don't get that feedback that I clicked it. And my left stick also has some drift, slight. But has a lot of play in it. Not stiff as before.
